@captainflasheart..Cheers. You confirm my point exactly (but not in the way, I’m going to guess, that you think I mean). :D

    Cheers for the respones.

Had my first attempt lst night. Not as hard as I thought it would be to get it sharper. However, I can see there is a skill to be learned to getting it really sharp.

How important is a leather strop?

Bigdean’s video really good. Few useful tips e.g. listening to hear if keeping the same angle.

its far worse than that. Pretty much our entire countries press is owned by foreign tax-avoiders who hold an unhealthy grip over those in power, or in the case of the Tory Right very much share their self-interested agenda. As this cartel have what is almost a monopoly, and independent news organisations like the BBC have effectively been neutered, what they’re publishing at the moment is little short of propaganda.

The fact that the present Labour leadership, or the pathetic, spineless PLP seems to have singularly failed to grasp this, while they squabble with each other, is a gross dereliction of duty that will lead their descent into irrelevance at the exact point when they’ve never been needed more

Interesting you write the above Binners. You’ve spent the past year choosing to attack Corbyn instead of opposing the Tories. As I see it, you are one of the people the Tories love since you have helped them attack the opposition.

When the Tories are re-elected you have been a part of helping them make that happen.

FWIW – I do not overly support Corbyn but I would never, ever, choose to attack him over the Tories. I’d rather Corbyn in power than the Tories.

We knocked on our neighbours doors (to see what they were like), before buying our current house. I’d do the same with the flag person. Make a judgement after meeting him/her.

Make the healthy choice the easy choice – that’s my idea of health promotion.

Right now the healthy option is definitely not the easiest choice.

This tax would be making a positive step towards that – but it should never been seen in isolation. It should be along with other fast food taxes, education, reducing price of healthier food, promoting exercise, reducing stress in society etc etc.

Nothing had been made obsolete? yet has it?

One can still buy new or second hand parts for the bike. Whilst the new products of the ‘older’ sizes is shrinking it’s still possible to get.

Just let the marketeers get on with it, ignore them and ride your bike. That’s what it’s about isn’t it? Riding.

Why give the death penalty to the perpetrators? Let’s kill the potential trigger points/instigators e.g. alcohol sellers, gun manufacturers, politicians creating uneuqal societies that lead to murders and so forth. Yep, let’s clean up this planet with some good killing. :D

Oh no, hang on. Isn’t murder wrong? So why would the law/moral enforcers do to others what they’re saying is wrong in the first place?

It’s too confusing my head hurts. I best go get my gun to let off steam..

I like having them – have a small one on my keyring, a bigger Mora knife for other duties and a couple of multi tools.

However, it’s interesting that in this thread the person who uses knifes alot (Welshfarmer) for skinning lambs etc uses cheaper ones and the part-time knife users have expensive knifes. Some even admitting they’re too expensive to lose so don’t carry them every where.

    Guess that’s like most fashions.

@jambayla…ER you appear incorrect. He is not here because he is banned and not, as you imply, because he has too much work to do.

You know jambayla, it is ok in life to admit your wrong. No one will think worse of you.

    Slight hijack.

How do you sharpen yours? I have a Mora of Sweden Mora knife and last weekend used it to cut the turf when i was laying it in our garden. Did a great job but now needs a sharpen.

I’ve tried to do it myself with a block and oil in the past and never really mastered it.

PS Mora knife is a great bushcraft knife – just not for your pocket.

@mikesmith – the person IS the belief system. It’s basic sociology (not meaning that to come across as patronising).

Another way of looking at it. People also know how to integrate. Your friends will undoubtedly act one way in front of you (with them knowing your beliefs) and another in the comfort of their own value driven circle of friends.

Do you tell everyone you know all of your values? I bet you don’t. You adapt to your social surroundings to fit in an be accepted.

Do people believe that a person can seperate their values from their language and behaviours?

Everything we do, say and think is related to our values – why should an MP be any different? If Farron holds strong beliefs about homesexuality, I believe these values will play out in his working life.

Edit: Seen post above. Just voting for a policy is one part – how about all the parts leading up to new policies being introduced e.g. the priority he puts upon the bits of work he wants to spend time on.

@cranberyy..Your right . Giving money to people to allow them to live when they cannot work is just daft. I mean, just because they’re disabled doesn’t mean anything. They really must try harder mustn’t those lazy feckelss disabled people..

    edenvalleyboy

@cranberry …Would you advocate working 12 hours days?

Are you aware that the UK is internationally known for it’s poor work efficiency?

E.g What the UK outputs in five days , France does in three and a half days.

So they work less and are just as efficient.

So work less under Labour is not necessarily a bad thing if you define what that statement actually means. :D

A few years back I bought the x-tools kit (it’s now about £50 i think). Most of it still going strong and I’m tinkering on the bike constantly. Sure, you’ll have to buy other tools as you go along, but as a starting point it was great for me.

I wonder how May will react when school teachers go on strike before the General election due to the cuts in school funding

Not well i expect. She clearly doesn’t have the confidence of a strong leader. If she wins the GE I predict she will not stay PM until 2020 – she’s simply not a strong enough leader to deal with it. I think Brexit negotiations will break her.

@jambayla…Your kidding. The Tory party can be held partly responsible for a murdered MP and directly responsible for an intern suicide, along with policies that drive the marganalised in our society to commit suicide/die of poor health as a result of poverty their policies have created.

Get a grip with your jibes of nastiness pointed at the Labour party.

Actually , the Tories don’t outwardly blame the poor.

What they do is only ever talk about the working population. If you listen to any of their speeches you’ll rarely hear them talk about people who cannot work. They might talk about getting people into work but not about the people who cannot e.g. disabled.

They have no concern for people who cannot work (edit: they do in that they want to cut benefits of those who cannot work) – which is why imo i think they’re a bunch of *****.

I hope this is a troll thread. If not, OP, sorry to say, but your attitude to work and the dole is appalling.

If you can work , work. Might not be what you want/expect but don’t expect
me to be happy for you to sponge off the system because the jobs you do get offered you feel are beneath you.

Edit: just read the dates and fact you did take job. Maybe i should have read whole thread. Oops.. :D

Hardly strong leadership if you feel afraid to stand up and debate why you should be leader of the country.

Nevertheless, her participating in the debating or not, the mindless sheeep will still vote for her.

As someone said to me today “may as well vote Tory since they’re going to win anyway”. WTF!! 8O

If you vote Tory and are unhappy who would you vote for? Unhappy Tory voters will still vote Tory.

How depressing…The June election result will remind me yet again of the mindset of this country.

At least between elections i can kid myself there is a more empathetic mentality out there than the reality that the election results deliver. :D

If the Brexiteers are fed up with the Remainers moaning, why don’t you give the Remainers something to be happy about?

Problem is you can’t can you. Brexit is just a big shitty mess so all you can do is tell the Remainers to stop whining whilst keeping your heads in the sand and denying to yourselves that you made a bit of a cock up on voting day.

Forget his age and what your friends may have done with their children (these two points often seem to determine when to get a child out of nappies). Do it when it feels right. We tried a few times, clearly wasnt right, went back to nappies and waited. When they were ready no issue at all.

Also, I know two children punished by parents in this process and they now have, at age six and eight, bed wetting issues. Imo punishing a three year old is not going to provide a positive outcome.

Halfords do a 500ml water bottle with full size kneck so getting tools in/out easy and therefore works great as a tool bottle. Less than a fiver if i remember correctly.

Using some of the logic in this thread, I suggest if you don’t ride in the mountains you’re not a mountain biker.
