@dai3015 – wouldn’t gorilla tape pull the paint off when removed? If it doesn’t, it sounds like a great way of doing it.

    Cheers for the suggestions.

@nickc…some tape to protect from cable rub and also webbing rubbing when using my top tube bag.

I used some Lizzard skins last time so curious to try something different this time. Not looking for loads of it. Just a few bits.

@phunkmaster – bought a CX bike only a few weeks ago and already it’s my go to bike. Can’t see myself on the mtb for a while.

@jekly – any chance of more details on those suggestions? I’m stil pretty new to Cheshire.

@AlexSimon…happy for it to be 50/50 road and offroad – no need to be techinal but can be – my aim is to ride from centre of Macc and get some good fitness. Length wise – anything up to 100km roues. Cheers for any routes.

I guess if it gets too techinal I just think I may as well be riding my MTB.

@Jekyl – ridden there alot and hoping to explore other areas that I wouldn’t go with my MTB.

I guess the parents want to be able to live the rest of their lives knowing/believing they did everything possible to give him life.

Edit. I know very little about the case and have no opinion on their actions. :D

Few years back I had a dislocating shoulder. Key hole surgery to sew up the tearing that had occurred inside shoulder. Lots of physio and back to full strength within 6 months iirc. No issues since.

@jamba…you are the ‘loadsamoney’ character in the Harry Enfield show back in the day.

I wonder if you even realised it was comedy. You probably thought the character was someone to be admired.

    I’m with you Op.

I mean how dare they take away our property! A sign of a thriving neo-liberal capatalist society is protecting the winners right?

Poor people need to try harder don’t they. For example, even if they’re poor because they’re disabled and the state hasn’t provided enough for them so they’ve ended up in sub-standard properties – doesn’t mean I should feel sorry for them.

Why should I, who have worked hard and had luck bestowed upon me by my parents, let some poor famlies live in my empty home. 79 people dead in a tower block fire – not our problem is it.

This country really needs to stop thinking about others. Choices right. That’s why I vote Tory and read the Daily Mail like you. They undertsand us.

The actions of one driver do not give other drivers a bad reputation. The actions of one black/gay/Muslim person do not give other black/gay/Muslim people a bad reputation.
Please stop with the collective responsibility crap.

Incorrect. The above example is how many stereotypes are created.

Ever since the GE was called May has been acting light a rabbit caught in headlights and her erractic, indescive and impulsive behaviour has increasingly worsened.

Someone needs to put her out of her misery and put a halt to her chaotic ( and resulting dangerous) behaviour. It will only get worse the longer she stays as PM.

Further. Amazes me the support for Corbyn now. Until the election was called, Corbyn was consistently critised for his values, policies and persona.

Do you not think it’s odd that’s changed? As I see it, his political party have a wiff of power and are reigning it in because they are thinking about their own jobs.

The whole things a bit mucky and I don’t trust Labour one bit to behave themselves under Corbyn after the election. I’d never vote for Corbyn based on the bahaviour of his political party pre-election. I’m not Tory if that’s of any interest.

2 facts everyone forgets in election fever.

    1) The polls are never accurate

    2) It’s rare for the public to admit they will be voting Tory.

    Comical.

The person who was home secretary is now telling us that we’ve been too soft regards our way of doing things and that she’ll be the person to sort it out. She never sorted it as home secretary (which is the perfect position to do it) so why would we believe her now?

May is really quite stupid regards her way of dealing with the public. Another example of poor leadership and of the poor advice around her.

You need to change the thread title. This thread appears to be about Muslim terrorists not simply terrorists.

Either you’ve succumbed to racism by implying terrorists means Muslims or you’ve chosen to discuss one aspect of terrorism but have written an incorrect thread title.

There are consistently acts of terrorism around the world that have nothing to do with Islam.

Very UKip to imply terrorists mean Muslims by default.

    How about this scenario?

One guy biking fast down a downhill track and the other biker pushing up on same track. They crash. Only one could be saved. Who would you save?

Your choice appears to be a big wage but your child is in boarding school or, pay cut and your child lives with you.

Imo you’re missing out on some amazing times being away from your kids. Be a horrible thing to regret when your older, especially if your child had a bad time in boarding school.

read something the other day and an illegal immigrant, who had overstayed a working visa by 6 years and was still living in the uk, raped a 16 yo girl.

And in another part of the world someone else is being brainwashed with hatred too.

As always, hypocrisy rears its head.

E.g. Thatcher was not just a terrorist sympathiser, she even called a dictator a ‘true friend’. Your minds must have forgotten this history as you try to sling shit at others.

If we replaced the current culture of sick care with health care, we’d start to see reductions in NHS costs. This sadly is not something the Tories will ever do so it’s no surprise that the NHS keeps struggling (and failing).

Re. @clovers post. Yet another example demonstrating how biased the media coverage is.

Similar to the bias around the local elections the other week. Did you know the northern power house had a Labour Mayor elected? Virtually zero coverage regards Labour winning the Manchester Mayoral position. Instead they created the view that nothing good happened for Labour in the local elections.

For us, daughter loved her balance bike but the first pedal bike we bought her (off eBay) didn’t fit right and she never felt confident with it and resisted.

Went to Evans, sized her up and bought a Pinnacle bike which was the right size and weight for her (she’s quite light) and she took to it instantly. Never looked back.

So imo, first pedal bike should be light enough to give them confidence.

[/i]It’s a nice little tradition, people like it. What’s the Harm

I’ve always found it a bit strange we still give women away as if they’re objects owned by the males. Bit caveman isn’t it?

What else can people say in defence of the Tories? It’s not like you could ever argue (in the Tories defence) that they were a caring, equalitative, empathetic, anti-oppressive political party. So the only defence to being called nasty is to deflect the comments in other ways.

Best quip I heard lately (think it was Question Time on R4). Talking about the demise of UKip.

Someone said that it was really obvious – if your anti-immigration, xenophobic, anti-environmental and pro neo-liberalism, you don’t need UKip anymore , you’ve got the Tories now. They’re definitely moving to the right in a nasty way.

have we also talked about the potential for no VAT on bikes and cycling components in order to promote sustainable transport options?

Interesting Nifan, are you predicting the Tories are going to lose the GE then? :D

@nifan. Who doesn’t get the political predictions wrong?

    Good link @somafunk.

Also, far more simplistically. IMO they’re sticking to a strapline based on what happened in the Brexit vote. The leave campaign had a strong ‘take back control’ mantra. They’re copying that successful tactic.

    Toppeak Tyre Pressure Guage?

Not a tool in the sense you mean maybe, but I’ve had one years now and I’ve come to realise that tyre pressures make a really big difference to your ride. A digital guage is best way to know what the pressure is.

Making quotes about being a ‘bloody difficult woman’ doesn’t create a reality.

May does not even have the confidence to stand up in public and debate the GE with the other contending leaders.

Or maybe that’s what she means about being difficult , she’ll run away whenever it gets too tough for her. :D

I have recently got one of these. I’m chuffed to bits with it. Wanted a simple, no frills, unlikely to fail, system of having post up or down but better than a quick release.

Worth noting – it’s designed to work properly when the seatpost shaft is clamped in the bike. When I tried it in the shop (still in the packaging) I was a bit dubious of its quality. However, put it on the bike and give the stanchion a spray with silicone seal and it’s great. Post can stop at any part i.e. not just fully up or fully down. Exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommended so far.

Not sure it’d be good for trail centre riding (constantly having post up or down) but for riding in the hills when it’s either up for the grind up the peak or along the flat or slammed down for the descent it’s perfect. And it’s relatively light.
