Paris roubaix? I enjoyed the riding more in roubaix but the craic is better at rvv

Well that was brilliant. The beach riding was great fun and the on shore stuff was a nice mix of cyclocross fields and some nice trail blue level type stuff, bit of cheeky elevation gain too. Went off far too hard as i was having too much fun and have never bonked so hard, ate ALL the food in the cafe, but it was still great.

Started off a bit nippy. A lovely day in land but a bit of cloud at the coast but that burnt off by the start. Roughly even split of cross bikes, racy 29ers and fat bikes. Real mix of bikes in the top ten so it showed it was the legs that mattered most.

It’s a slightly different course. They take some of the harder features out compared to sat.

Hawes is not great for uber tech mountain biking. Take a rigid 29er and a full day and you’ll have great fun. But as said above hawes is not the best hub for short rides.

agree with mark90, i think he puts on some of his fear of big stuff of the youtube chanel as its nothing he hasn’t done on a bmx but the minute he hits mud, roots rocks he is genuinely all over the shop. its heartening. He’s good a swearing too, not everyone can do that, i like it.

drew bezanson has also tried this journey too from amazing bmx rider to mtb. Albeit at crankworx. Seemed to face pretty genuine struggles with bigger wheels and bigger jumps

hardistys were the most miserable bunch ever. yes i know they were a historic shop, big supporters of the race scene, yes i know they supported jason mccoy, but its still the the most miserable bike shop I’ve ever been in.

There’s red and black graded trail centre stuff. It’s not steep and techy off piste. The Calvert trust do great school diner food. I had double pudding last time

Possibly. I’m wondering how traily the trails are to help answer the inevitable ‘what tyre for…’ question

You’ve all got old and you’ve all found perspective. Embrace it. There’s very little spectator sport I don’t get twitchy watching now thinking I could be using this time to ride my bike.

I struggle with Lombardy. In March I’m all over every belgium semi classic but come October I always feel all raced out, Worlds is about my limit. Plus cyclocross has started.

Is Birkside the one that ends at a car park by Thirlmere, possibly Wythburn – splits off to the right as you head from the summit towards Dollywagon?

yes. Id seen a few sections in photos over the years that looked great, and they are, but theres also a lot of steps and it looses height very quickly.

patterdale is brilliant, sticks and seldom seen very very good, birkside I’m undecided on.

the royal family have a pretty good rep in spain. that said the way no-one at the national level seems to be acknowledging that lots of people got their heads kicked in, legal/illegal referendum aside, this weekend seems ill judged.

If most people don’t want to vote Yes then why not let it go ahead?

I think there’s some nervousness about the accuracy of opinion polls these days

    eddie11

Why don’t the Spanish government let it go ahead but say it’s irrelevant and anybody who wants to stay part of Spain shouldn’t vote in it. That way it would be a 100% Yes on a <50% turnout and the government could say fine, do that every weekend, we don’t care, most people don’t want to vote Yes.

Exactly. Like they did in 2014. National government seem to have gone from nothing to nuclear option in a fortnight this time.

considering the mess that was the spanish civil war, considering its really not that long ago franco died, considering the mess the the national right wing government has made of this since the summer its amazing this referendum dispute is so civil.
