Prescott wasn't really getting that this is a great constitutional moment that requires grave and earnest commentary and was being all party political.

but nevermind that, we've got no government at the moment so presumably that means the Queen is ruling the country at the moment. does that mean prince philip has a say in our defence policy?!

we had tiscali for years and never had a problem, they've been bought out by talk talk, its cheaper now but been interesting in terms of reliabilty these last few months :-/

mine at about 18. most of her mates were 14-18 months too although you got the odd smartarse ahead of the curve. When grading your child i think you've also got to account for the tendency for other proud parents to embellish progress of their little ones.

16 or even 18 months is the NHS decreed average i think with a margin of 4 months either way. Therefore health visitor wont be interested until 18+4 months.

from your description it appears to be internal work to a non listed building that is in the curtilage of a listed building but not in a conservation area. if that's the case then no permission will be required for internal works.

However, as hinted at by other posters i suggest you double check that the circumstances you describe are right, and i'd do it yourself not trust your solicitor, the planning dept should help as they will have time on their hands as no-ones building much at the moment. But don't panic as if its a conversion then internal changes have already been allowed so chances are you'll get whatever permission you need.

For any external works your permitted development rights will be reduced (again see your local planning dept) because of the listed building for a start so a pump track and radio mast will have no chance ;-).

On the question of value, it certainly won't add to it. In this country normal houses are largely valued on bedrooms rather than floorspace (the approach on much of the continent) which is a dumb approach but is the approach. However, yours sounds like an unusual or 'character' property so valuers may have had to take a different approach on it and actually done some research. My guess is hold price or drop 5-10%.

ask them what they are doing for cyclists.

You'll confuse them more than they've ever been confused before. Or you might get some useful information. win win either way.

yeah, citycentre is a black hole for bikeshops, they are all in a donut around the edge. Ride on is the closest, its new but seems decent. MJ Steels is good. Edinbugh bike coop at Byker (biker metro, head up hill on shields road). Theres an evans at the metrocentre which is always good for a browse. theres some great roadie shops in tyne valley but doesn't sound much good to you.

what a dull subject, yet i feel i have to contribute

I don't have a favourite but the nearest one to us (about a mile away) is actually in the council next door and it is covered in signs saying 'this tip is for X council residents only' (i.e. not me but i still use it) but the one that is meant to be 'ours' is all the way over the other side of our borough.

It seems daft to me. i dont care where the invisible council boundaries are.

    i think its great

its a very sophistcated way of making a point that might get through to joe average whilst in front of corrie. And its such a pleasant relief to see national media being used to present the real issues faced and not trot out the daily-mail-all-cyclists-are-pavement-destroying-tax-dodging-granny-mugging-child-eaters.

curtis do kind of what you want, although a bit more towards the bespoke end, and you can even get them in howies blue (sure to be an opinion divider :-) )

    Curtis Bikes

in terms of cost it looks like they struggle to get their uk made frames much below £700.

As a vinyl loving luddite can i first say dont do it.

However, its your choice, and if you really must http://www.gemm.com is like the ebay of old records (back when ebay was good).

i must admit i'm not sure whether it caters for private sellers or just commercial, but thats a slight aside if you just want rid. What i was thinking is it might give you an indication of sellers local to you who might take your stuff as a job lot. A lot of sellers dont have a physical shop so you wouldn't otherwise know they were local.

I have the exact same set up – pro2 and joystick. They aren't the cheapest but are two well made well designed components that work well together. The beams of the two complement each other – pro 2 gives a good flood whilst the joystick is more of a spot.

It seems nothing in Britain is designed to work at these temps. trains, roads, the post, central heating. bikes are not immune

Went a ride first thing this morning which required some pre ride fettle-ing. Tyres were fine (I run tubes) but all the grease and oils were like some sort of slow moving glue. wierd.

    nooo!

the hawthorn hedges on the macc canal. I'm sure they are some as yet unknown superbreed that hunts bike tyres.

A few years ago I just had to throw away some tyres in the end as i couldn't find all the little needles.

their bricks and mortar shop is great. I can spend hours in there and sometimes i even buy something…

they charge postage which is a bit of a shock compared to wiggle and crc but they carry some brands that the others don't so are useful.

I presume what you are looking for is not a full waterproof full-day-in-the-hills over trouser but more of a showerproof for an hour or so trouser that you can wear in public?

There seems to be quite a lot these days. If you can wait for charge bikes to get their finger out and release their surface clothing brand they have some black waterproof trousers/jeans (~£80). Alternatively swrve (~£80), alpkit (~£60) and for even more money than howies, rapha and outlier (both £150+) all do them.

can you tell ive been researching this same question as well?

it will be an improvement in traction on the mud and grassy fields that make up the average cross race with less drag.

mtbtomo is probably right about the thickness but for those who want to try it [PSA mode on] go to your chemist and ask for a 500g tub of aqueous cream. Non branded E45 for about £1.50.

Despite owning several mountain bikes over the years they have all been 'just fine'. Each one has been technically better and more suitable for the job than the last but i've never fallen in love with any of them.

The one that gives me most pleasure is a second-hand knackered steel audax ridgeback with original transmission that has received zero maintenance except more oil on top of the dirt, now has barely any brakepads, rusty forks and some strange handling characteristics that have required years of careful learning. But commuting to work on it breaks up the days and it has given me some great tours with mates. so its 'best' for what I've done with it rather than cos its any good as a bike.

saw this in the metro today. I got a bit annoyed as the only person they had a quote from was the AA's new 'road safety' person saying its a great shame and the 'road safety community' (what ever that is) needs to tackle this problem. Could they not get be bothered to ask the sustrans, CTC etc.. Dont ask the lobby group who represents the drivers doing the running over!

haha i used to have bigger tyre envy, nearest thing to thin is my stable is a 2.0 bonty mud which i'm nervous about. However, having done my first cross race at the weekend and trying to sail a fully clogged high roller 2.35 accross a sea of mud my faith is being tested…

Ok, i was presenting a bit too clear cut before. i know about the car derived van laws but the weird thing about the berlingo is that the van came first, so its van derived car.

What i was trying to say was theres at least some doubt – A quick google shows theres a doubt at the very least about their status. e.g. http://www.tilersforums.co.uk/tiling-forum/15400-van-speed-limits.html (non tiling forum links also available)

This issue came up on the (old?) forum as someone got done driving a van back from glentress and the thread meandered on to car derived van rules, van derived car rules etc.

    eddie11

just be aware berlingos are a van derived car so the speed limit for them is the same as a van, i.e. 50mph on a single carriageway road, not 60. The Citroen showroom wont tell you that.

Just gone through this ourselves, Abus seem to have the widest size range but go down to the smallest setting. They have a good one handed dial for adjustment a wriggly child and a nifty flashing light on the back to. However…

they had the wrong colour in our lbs and i couldn't wait as we needed one the day after so got one that looked like a panda from chainreaction
