yep theres no real science to it. just done it on a new fork but everytime i do it i think there must be a more advanced way of doing this, it really is the most primitive thing to be done on a mountain bike: man buy expensive product, man bring expensive product back to cave and cut it in half so it will fit. :-)

what neilsonwheels said. they are $%$%£ awful. ive had this, you’ll not get anyone to take your problem on and they’ll just say someones coming out next day to get you off the phone. even in the average world of couriers they are a cut below.

    my two cents

having gone a few times i now quite like the from the zig zag climb and the wooden bit home again. The wooden bit makes for a change. BUT it takes far far too long of iritatingly surfaced trail and fireroad to get there.

deadwater trail is better but getting a bit heavily used at the bottom.

    try

    http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/

and ring the planning dept at the council and explain what you’ve just said and they will advise you. It’ll be couple of hundred for fees for planning and a couple of hundred for building regs (if needed but probably will).

You will need plans to pass planning and so your mate knows what to build and a spec. That’ll be another couple of hundred. If your builder mate can’t do plans i would hope he must know of someone who does.

edit – as creamegg said, the links for england.

I never thought this would happen. It really shouldn’t. It will murder the legacy even more than reading. So why do i still want tickets.

    nice poster though.

you are watching the slow death of someones marriage. shes only been nagging him to score points. he only did it that way to score points back, shes just annoyed cos hes 1 nil up. Express no opinion in favour of either party and slowly back away.

If you are replacing an existing one – I used a replacement/upgrade bearing kit from Betd which uses the old cups. it was relatively cheap and its been great. but… ive had a quick look around their website and i cant see it anymore :/. might b worth giving them a ring.

are they not an old model?

    try sidicafe.com

ive found sidi are more ‘right’ in their sizing than shimano, i’d go down to a 46 or possbily 45.5

this is for road or commuting isn’t it? Any oversock will last two minutes on the mountainbike.

prendas ciclismo do them for about 8 quid and discounts for 3.

very good player. only guy England have had since thorpe until trott and the reborne cook who can dig in and score runs during a collapse. not just cardiff – england got a draw in india because of his batting with the tail.

ive seen him get two centuries for england in real life and hes a good player, and a real all rounder, dont care what anyone says.

surprising – schable have good puncture protection ime. Perhaps the ultremos were OEMs where some corners were cut? luganos are a bit tougher than ultremos but i’d think what you want before you go down the full gatorskin route – they are not a like for like replacement – you’ll never get a puncture but they are heavy, slow and slippy on breaking and corners and no fun as anything other than an urban commuting tyre.

it’ll be to soften the VAT hike next year, its the only reason i can see for all these sales across the place.

sizing is between shimano and specialized ime

they are lovely things but budget for some aftermarket insoles if you have anything other than perfect feet. the stock insoles are basic at best.

sidicafe have a good range and good sizing advice.

its great in IMO, emulsions are a pleasure to use and coverage is very good, one coat only for the darker shades. The spirit based, planet killing glosses used to be good but they’ve gone all waterbased eco and they dont seem to be as good as a) they used to be b) other peoples water based gloss

does no-one talk to each other when they are out on a bike? then such missunderstandings such as are we racing are we not, are you overtaking me or looking to take a turn on the front? been out far mate or just going 2 miles home from work? etc. can all be avoided. it even allows you to exchange conversation with someone who has a shared interest. :|

just done something very similar this weekend – how about from ambleside up great langdale, down little langdale, through coniston, hawkshead, a nice little ferryride and back up through bowness?

its a bit hillier but less than a 1000m in 30 miles. only bad hills are probably the climb out of coniston for a newbie and the climb out of great langdale for anyone – its a bl**dy wall, but its only a short walk…

antiques shops, lots of antiques shops

theres also a great transport/bikers cafe at the top end of town near the park in front of the castle. think formica, fryups for about 14p and pictures of rally cars on the wall.

    oh and theres a castle.

middleton in teesdale is nice enough and theres a waterfall to look at.

Biking wise its just down the road from the always contentious hamsterley which is either an underrated gem or muddy forest road hell depending who you listen to, there seems to be no middle ground. Its also just north of reeth and the northern yorkshire dales which is possibly a safer bet.

apparently its now coming out from the new york times that the plasticizers were found in urine the day before the rest day and blood transfusing then would very much make sense.

i so wanted to believe him as well as he seems genuine – small skinny guy is a good at climbing therefore wins grand tours but couldn’t ever hope to win a classic – seems to add up. However i have always thought his 2009 tdf time trial looked surprising, ok it was a hilly course but still, now it looks suspicious.

What's the basis of people saying there is a problem with running a business from home?

Because in simple terms whilst there is nothing wrong with a home office, if you are running something from your house that becomes big, noisy or popular enough then it can be seen as a change of use from a 'dwelling house' to a business use and that requires planning permission.

Hence council will look into it seriously if miserable next door neighbour complains that you are running a mountain bike business.

One of the tests of whether its become too big etc. is whether it harms residential amenity of your next door neighbours. So unfortunately you can't tell her to p!33 off or own her with bombers as that only harms your case.

However, having said all that from the way the OP described his business set up at the moment it doesn't sound like he's in running enough of a business form his home for the planners to be interested yet.

as a sidi owner sidis are lovely shoes. budget for some extra insoles though, the ones that they come with are rubbish.
