The Flanders colour scheme is amazing and must make you at least 1 mph faster.

CT is a charge on a property to contribute to the public services in your area. It’s paid by the owner or occupier of a property. OP owns or occupies 2 properties so pays twice. Its another cost to factor in. It’s expensive yes. But it’s not unfair.

I’d say British sea power might have something to say about having their image nicked too.

I have to say I didn’t realise kaiser cheifs were still going until I saw this ( or sturmey archer)

The north (of England) hasn’t flooded?

Tell that to the people of blyth, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Whitby…

    Have people forgotten December already?

Seriously no good has come of these floods.

I guess pure race frames aren’t a big market. I’ve jammed up with both chain stay and non-chain stay bridge frames in different races but without jammed later, so it’s not scientific but I’d try and find a frame I liked without bridges if possible.

That bridge is only there so they can flog it as a commuter. For racing that screams mud trap. If you are stybar and get a new crux every lap it’s not an issue but if I was buying a race bike I’d want to give myself a fighting chance with as much clearance as possible.

Don’t know. I was down for the sportive -type one on the Sunday but they’ve moved it to the sat which I can’t do so peed off at the minute. Only the enduro one is on the Sunday but all that stopping for timed runs just spoils a good ride for me.

Sorry that’s no help to you.

I read an article about jaywalking the other day and how in America the 20’s the car lobby shifted blame for accidents to pedestrians and the answer was to make crossing the road illegal outside of set crossings. It was a coordjnated strategey over years. Astonishing. I sometimes wonder if there is implicit sympathy with this blokes view somewhere in government. If we make it hard enough and punsishmenta lax enough cyclist wl go away, or at least go to off road paths and velodromes and some of the better ones can win us some medals every four years.

how did rivers manage before they had people around to dredge them :?

    eddie11
    Free Member

Evis is an idiot. He’s upstream of the levels, his farming practices are contributing to this water in the levels not that he seems able to see it.

No one is against spending money to solve problems, the point is dredging wont work so its a waste of money.

However, faced with 25 sq miles of flooding and the wettest january since records began there isn’t actually much you can spend money on to fix this. Thats why climate change is a bitch.

Judder is VERY common in cx forks but normally from cantis, mini vs are meant to be one of the solutions to judder. But sorry that’s no help to you. Look at play in brake posts? toe in? different compound pads? Slipping star nut? Could just be a flexy fork?

When originally conceived council housing was for anybody who wanted a good quality home and a fair landlord. The prevailing view for much of the last century until the 80s was private landlords were a bad thing and state provided renting was the answer. It wasn’t (only) about means. With right to buy and the general ideological shift to home ownership council housing or whats left is now often the safety net or tenure of last resort. Because of this and a general shortage of council homes it’s a bit of a straw man as there won’t be many people with 60k who want to live in council house anymore or would ever get to the top of the waiting
List. Exception might be in affluent rural areas where even an income of 60k might not get you on the property ladder and you might need to rent. The continued existence of good qualiry council housing also also provides a degree of rent control on the bottom end of the private market which ultimately benefits us all by cooling rent inflation.

99% of this country is managed by man. Only tiny parts if Scotland is true wilderness. Habitats can be improved by paying for better management that helps wildlife e.g. Blocking up moorland ditches so the peat bogs come back. A hypothecated tax on a developer could pay for that.

Current situation: build on (say) woodland you’ve lost it. Hard luck.

Biodiversity offsetting: build on woodland, get a new or improved habitat of sorts elsewhere to replace it.

Is it perfect? No. Is it better than we have at the minute? Yes

haven’t seen that fork in the flesh but have had this with other cx forks and my guess would be:

basically cheap mini vs have the pad behind the arm which catches on some cross forks. Doesnt seem to be an issue on the back of most frames.

posh cx mini vs (and normal cantis) have the pad mounted further forward ‘in’ the arm e.g trp cx 8.4s and don’t catch. why this is the case i don’t know but its a bitch and you have to either spend ££ on new forks or posh brakes.

Its a great event, lovely place, friendly locals, decent food, drivers wave. People come out and cheer you on like a real race. non of this new forest aggro carp.

i’d recommend taking the mountian bike up too and make a weekend of it. Theres a great hotel/camping barn in Achnasheen.

What kcal said – the bealach is long and steep but only like a very big dales climb. But its the sawtooth profile of the next bit that gets you, often with gusty winds.

google beleach more and bbc adventure show scotland they did a programme on this years which aired about a month ago.

size up in every direction. IME experience castelli are a bit smaller than UK sizing but the gabba ss is definately a full size smaller.

Its a lovely thing, even in fluro yellow. I’ve tried them on repeatedly in shops but can’t justify it.

Yes. About 3 quid on top of entry. But allow time for extra form filling. Yes but purgatories will be so much slower than a cross tyre.
