MTBR geeked out on this a few years ago. Previous generation 2.4 racing ralphs were the biggest i understand. 2.4 is big anyway but schwalbe got the ruler very wrong. I have one and its massive, sadly the new ones are the right size as you say above. NOS Old ones come up on ebay. Double sadly its still a racing ralph so its got thin sidewalls and no grip. Big carcass mind 🙂

i wondered about this but in 650b front 26″ rear on an old five. Not for any performance benefit but just for easing the future availbility of stuff for at least one end of the bike. didnt bother in the end.

Isofix seems very expensive and bulky for a feature you don’t really need. It’s not hard to put a seat in safely using a seat belt. I’m not aware of some dark secret about it though.

velocity duallys seem good so far. very wide but like normal rims so no silly cut outs and they go tubeless well.

All these people who are getting their drives parked in front of, are these gravelled over front garden setups where there MAY be some confusion or proper drives with dropped kerbs, little Posts and a garage at the end of it.

I cannot fathom parking across a drive. It does not compute. Road outside a house fair game but across a drive?? It’s a drive! What’s going through people’s heads when they park over a drive?

Good luck to all. I’m not in this year as I haven’t entered and it’s such a pleasure to be missing this bit, the fight with the Internet.

I know nothing of them other than they backed Chris akrigg in the early years if I remember right. For that reason alone this is a shame

12st and 28psi* is as far as i go. Tried low twenties once and it was horrible.

if doing it properly FMB supermud, challenge limus or dugast rhino tubs at 20 psi and swap your bike every lap. 😀

although some say new challenge baby limus are possibly better as though they are less agressive the tread clears better.

can we do what tyres for sand next?

people are missing the point here. It’s not that they avoid tax its that in doing so the don’t get off scot free they instead replace one burden of tax with the burden of hoops and hurdles and work arounds linked to offshore money which don’t seem to benefit them too much either.

But it doesn’t seem to be any use to them. It just sums up how nuts modern business is. They can’t get at it without paying tax somewhere so borrow against it to pay shareholders or some such they were saying on radio. Shareholders aren’t happy, countries don’t get tax so aren’t happy, they aren’t using it in the business or for staff or it wouldn’t be there so what’s the point? It may as well not exist for all the good it’s doing anyone. They are just making everyone in the world £200bn poorer at the moment.

I have a large and it seems well made seems water proof. Its like a small bikepacking bag size rather than a normal saddle bag. Just right size for a (ahem) audax. i plan to actually use it on a mountainbike this year.

    possibly

i have a frakenbike disc front mini v rear and the winter has killed a front mech and one of the mini v pivots and many v pads but front disc is fine (touches wood)

despite cotton being a terrible performance fabric cotton caps do seem to just somehow work.

Also, its worth checking the labels of what is meant by ‘cotton’. Ive got santini and cinelli caps with only 30% cotton in anyway so depsite the name they are pretty much acrylic.

my facebook started the year with a teaser from Pace about big things in 2014.

I thought at the time that either has to be an anodised square tubed bike or they can just shut up and go home.

the irish film institute is a good place to hang out. if weathers nice take a trip on the dart to dalkey which is a very poncy Georgian seaside resort with cafes and wander down the coast and cliff path to killiney. wander over the bridges and temple bar. find any small pokey backstreet pub and have a (very expensive) Guinness. or easier to find is the porterhouse which is comercial but still good. wander the southern grand canal. university is nice. if you like football you’ll find irish football hilarious. its awful.

i love dublin. i dont think there are any wow must see sights but its a nice place just to mooch about.

The business acumen of the Tories?! Seriously…

Anyway on topic. This is the saddest thread I’ve seen in a while. In the last 2-3 years ukip have gone from a rightwing joke to the mainstream.

Being racist, sexist, homophobic is now a ligimate point of view we have to entertain in a plural society? Really? **** that.

They hate cyclists too you know.

If all the footballers who don’t know what literally means he was my favourite.

Euro match probably 10 years ago someone was being Heavily man marked. After a while it caused Townsend to say “look how close he is Clive! He’s literally up his backside…” 😀

as been said above there is some good stuff on this thread but ive just totted up my hours and im a bit shocked how little i do. are you folks managing 10+ hours p/w in season? or is this offseason training?

allowing for real life i can fit a couple of commutes, a mtb ride, a run and some strength work around racing (cx) in season, its 5-6 hours at best with 2 hours (at most) on race day and i wouldn’t want to fit anything more in.

my rambling anecdote – for me racing gets fun when 2 things align 1) you are fit enough to ride hard but have some in the tank for attacks and 2) you luck out on a group of people are the same fitness as you, even if you are racing for 1st or 17th place its fun to ride in a group and you attack, they bring you back, they attack, they bring you back and so on. Judging the good spot to go where you’re strong, getting traffic between them and you. Ive had many races where ive finished higher and had less fun as ive been stranded on my own timetrialing home for 2-3 laps.

I await flaming but I struggled to put together a loop like that around hawes. If it doesn’t have to be hawes but just around there I’d suggest reeth, settle or sedbergh as bases for a better loop.

I would’ve said 36/30 was a bailout gear for penygent, at 3:30 I don’t think it slowed you up much. But for road riding you want bigger rings on the chainset. I’d swop the 46 out for a 50 or 52.
