WOODster the short answer should be by paying into society through general taxation. But that would be some kind of communist hell and Clearly beneath one of the richest countries in the world.

So given where we are the trusseltrust for food banks is a good place to start.

OP. If CDG means Charles de gaul as I think it does then I hope you get home ok. Seen the France has made that difficult journey home even harder as I assume that rio flight can’t happen now.

Every silver lining and all that eh?

It’s the best bit of lockdown but is it better than before, all things considered? No

Vittoria open paves are nice. Corsas are also lovely but can be variable quality.

Whilst it’s a brand new bike the frame is an 8 year old design and the groupset whilst very nice is 4-5 yr old design. It’s wheels and tyres are average and it’s all pinerellos own finishing kit. So 1500 is about right to be honest.

Does it still count as travel if you are on a bike and go round in a big circle and end up back where you started?
And I’ll be on my own. And it’s very necessary to me. Anyone? **** it’s going to be a long few months.

To be honest the British empire **** over most of Britain not just the globe. It’s a miricale it held together. Ireland, Scotland and much of the north and midlands and London itself had as little political representation in Westminster as our colonies and life chances for the average joe in the industrial Cities were just astonishingly bad. Worse than they had been pre industrial revolution.

hehe you’re new to this aren’t you?

I think BBC just took a UCI youtube feed. He’s been doing the same rotten job on there for years and years, never improves.

GCN have been better this year and redbull pretty good.

U23 and men’s great races today.

Classy rides from Tom and Anna to pick folk off after slow starts with good racing and pacing it well.

But 2-4 in the men’s: someone who hasn’t looked close to doing that all year And had been ill, a man who’s had broken ribs for a month and a man who tore has leg off 6 months ago. Funny old game.

There’s an Anna Kay watch party at pedalling squares cafe in Gateshead on Sunday if anyone wants to soak up the atmosphere and can’t stretch to Switzerland. Oh yeah and the men’s will be on too.

It was never going to work. It’s the franchise that picks up the dregs of everything. It’s got no winners. All the good stuff that could cross subsidise and maybe make it viable as a whole in its area is in east coast, transpennine, west coast etc etc. And The boundary it’s so big and random. It could only have been drawn in London by someone who’s never been.

Thought red bull would show all races that’s annoying. Looks very flat.

Lots of British interest in men’s u23s too. Thomas mein in with a shout.

Men’s elite Piddock has no chance in 3 from MVDP, wva, iiserbyt and toon.

Dutch 1-3 in women’s elite with maybe Richards as a curve ball. In u23 Anna looks to be struggling to hold form at the end of the season. A podium would be good now whereas a month ago top step was a possibility.

There’s some really bad casual sexism on this thread.

But on topic for the express, mail etc. And it’s royalist readership I can see why they are lashing out with rage, grief and confusion. To have just spent the last few years fighting, and winning tbf, the Brexit culture wars for sovereignty and to find out it’s all for nought as a key part of the institution go ‘actually it’s a load of bollocks mate we’re off’. It must be like when Dillon went electric or Campbell moved to Arsenal.

Google managing anxiety. There will be a lot of stuff similar to Simon_semtex above.

Sounds like he’s got a few legitimate reasons to be worried and anxious about riding at the moment. So whatever you do don’t tell him to relax or forget about it or not worry. Validate his worry but don’t feed it. See if you can help him narrow down the stuff that’s really getting to him in all that’s happened. Look out for yourself too.

Mallorca bike hire, pro cycle and bike island Mallorca have all been good to me over the years. I think most shops are pretty good out there. If it helps I met mallorca bike hire owner last year out riding and he was a really nice bloke so that swung it for me this year.

Sutton came across as a git. Again. Like all the other times he’s has come across as a git. In all the other enquiries and exposés we’ve had. In fact he’s so much of a git he can’t even keep a lid on it for a day when the spotlight wasn’t even meant to be on him. What a Git.

Those outlines assume no flood defences are in place but worth noting that the current picture isn’t too far removed
From that if any of the Thames barrier, Hull barrier, pumping fens etc. Ever failed.

Who said cream was the substitute for butter?

    Butter.
    Then jam.
    Then cream.
    Surely?

Jonba not a lot more you can do. Don’t warm up on course and start with spotlessesly clean seat Stays and chain stays. In race look for puddles, if there’s running try to clean the bike whilst it’s on your shoulder, run more than you might normally, don’t change gear as much and try to put the power down slowly out of corners to be ready for chain suck. But if it’s sticky clay mud and/or a flat course you’re knackered really.

He’s in the middle of a two year block aimed at the Tokyo olympics mtb. He’s had to work hard to beat schuter too. Seems pretty respectful of mtb to me.

Road riding is still only his hobby and I don’t think he confirmed for the road worlds until after amstel. He’s still finding out how good he is at it. It’s just that worlds course was tailor made for him (even though in bonked). He couldn’t really say no.

Edit: ^and yeah he was the favourite

Roads before and after buttertubs are under feet of water. Its not safe to travel never mind send a sporting event over there. It’s not just the descents a bit wet. I was shocked how bad cray was and that’s pretty low

I’m now wondering if the italians led the complaint. That would be a bitter irony.
