I enjoyed Bizet and baswotsit runs the best they went from looking like 100/100 winners to completely out of their depth chancers in an instant but what could’ve been…. Both looked as if they broke their bones/joints on heavy landings. Ouch

Edit cam zinks run really stood up on repeated viewing, the winning run got worse with every viewing.

I really don’t know. I think brand managers have ADHD these days. The race to have the next new thing is so quick that the last new thing becomes obselete before they’ve moved into mass production. [/old man mode]
I’m yet to see a proper 27.5+ tho. They all seem to be running wtb 2.8 tyres which the Internet seems to think is nothing more than every other mftrs 2.4.

I always pronounced it as juddy and in the isolated world of 90’s mountain biking I think all our enclave did.

I’d need to check strava but as part of the opening publicity someone did it in one but I *think* it was supported and missed a tiny bit of the route but balance that against fannying around for photos etc. That was maybe 12 or 13.

Definitely up for this. Been meaning to attempt this in a day and haven’t got my finger out this is the incentive I need. The route is 120 but looks doable in one but then it is 120 ooooo… That’s the attraction

I think travers do a custom ti 29+ that should save a bit of weight.

But I think to paraphrase bontrager 29+/lightweight pick one.

band4 is the normal league standard that happens around the country every sunday throughout the winter. you need to hold a bronze license or pay for a day license to race.

Rapha tends to attract guys from across a few leagues so there will be some pretty handy riders at the front but overall the atmosphere is pretty chilled. The field is normally very big so the race is a bit of a lottery anyway.

You have to compress it to get it back in its box. You did keep the box didn’t you?

The gabba is particularly clingy and not too stretchy so id say large. You’d be very top end of a medium and if you are not grimpeur build I think it would be tight on shoulders and neck. But why not order both and send one back? The big

So by Christmas you’ve already had 24 Lego men? That rather ups the ante from a picture or crap chocolate. How does Santa top that?

powerline schemes are enormous, last for ever and are much bigger than the houses they happen to pass by so don’t expect many concessions to you mr. Home owner vs. The greater good. It’ll be at least 5 years planning and another couple in building, if it’s not undergrounded then it’s next to your house for 50 years buzzing when it’s wet. I would make your decision on the worst case.

Done the 300 but can’t make the 200. I used a 29er with very summer tyres pumped to a million psi and it worked for me. No way would I choose a cross bike. I’ve done the 3 peaks and I can’t imagine 200k or 300k of that.

you dont need to go anywhere near kendal, get the os up on bing maps and you’ll see where route 68 goes. Theres nothing much above 300 except the the A686 and thats really easily graded as it’s an old stagecoach road

ok, lets start from horwich: through limbrick and west of chorley, pick up route 91, use that or any combination of small roads to get round preston or just go through the middle and up the a6 to garstand if you are a big boy. Pick up route 6 at about Garstang then aim for B6254 kirkby Lonsdale, A683 Sedbergh, pick up route 68 to orton then b6260 then generally aim for langwathby, over A686 (stopping at hartside for grub), B6305 into hexham then route 72 to newcastle (bit rough between wylam and newburn). after that he’s on his own.

No no no all wrong. Go up the west coast past Lancaster, Penrith over to Hexham tyne valley to Whitley bay. It’s about 160miles. Some lovely roads in the middle. The bit at the Whitley bay end can be cycle path or road. Bit at the beginning is a6 until garstang.

that alpinestars is to avoid chainsuck. a whole frame engineered to avoid chainsuck but made weaker and heavier and flexier in the process. that’s all we had back then. simple times.

they are very good. one pair has run through grit and salt of one winter on a commuter with no maintenance on odessy bmx cables. Same weather ate a bottom bracket and rear hub. Another pair has run through a cross season and been consistent and strong. Cross has eaten a few pads but had the problem with pulling to the bars.

One fitting tip i have is fit cables as tight as possible. yank the life out of the lever all the way to the bars, release. with cable stretch/housing seating there is 2/3mm of slack to take up at the caliper. retighten and modulation and lever throw are fine.

Two great days. two great winners. Men’s u23 was a good race too but I’ve no idea who any of them were so hard to get too involved once doul fell off. What a great course.

But one thing I still don’t know is why is Virginia for lovers?

Carriage driving? Will highway robbers return?

maybe we could reach a compromise? mountain bikes and horse are allowed but we’ll stop short of carriage driving, dandy horses, ordinaries and london steam carriages?

that’s a nice response from the CA. early claim for the centre ground. good cloaking of absurd reasoning in moderate language. good use of the straw man. 7/10, maybe even 8/10

OP to be honest if you’ve done all that it will be fine.

Start is fast, everyone lies about their finishing times so get there early if you are going for a time and want to be near the front. don’t dress too warm it’s a fast race and you are only up high briefly. It’s quicker to fell run through parts of the bog coming down ingleborough than it is to get stuck in a queue riding round it. marginal gains and all that. Watch the driving between ribblehead and penyghent its nuts. dont race the belgium singlespeeders on the road they will still beat you. if you figure out how to ride the steps off whernside let me know. breath in the atmosphere going up penyghent lane its amazing.

Is this based on the autobiography of the os? Just s word of warning, I am a massive massive map fan but the early story of the os is incredibly dull at least it is based on that book.
