Sorry finners I didnt read your thread properly and thought you were going from double to triple not the other way round.

It was on eurosport, although as a race it was a waste of time as they refused to race the riders stating it was too dangerous, so gc just rolled around. Truly awesome lead out for Cav though, they were taking no chances the green jersey in the tour has got to be a cert, best lead out train and fastest sprinter= green jersey.

I am no workshop guru but as I understand it .If shimano you need new sti triple lever and new front mech ( I think a double may work but may struggle if your middle ring is a lot smaller than your big ring) you will also need long cage rear mech if you haven’t already got one.

Yep Leeds in the past were hated because of gamesmanship and being a dirty side( and yes I’m just old enough to remember watching them)
Now they are hated for their arrogance and chip on the shoulder attitude.
eg disrupting the minutes silence for Sir Matt Busby because they felt Don Revie hadn’t received the same respect.( no I’m no Utd lover but bit sick imo)
Thinking that the docking of points was some personal vendetta against them whipped up by that w***** Ken Bates.
The arrogance that because they take 2000 away fans they are too big to be in Div 1( It may be a suprise to many Leeds fans but your league position is on results on the field rather than attendance figures).
The utter contempt the fans often show to other Div 1 teams for not being as “big” as them.

To win a tour you need strong riders around you, just ask Cadel Evans. Astana have that probably riding under another sponsers name by the tour, but still a strong experienced team.
Contador – where would he fit in?
Kloden- as many questions about valverde last year and he rode.
Leipheimer- looks good in giro at present
Popo- always seems to ride well for Johan
Look Im no lover of Armstrong or Astana but to say Lance wont win the tour because of a weak team seems nonesense to me

njee20- nor has he got the team he had before?

    No Astana have only got
Kloden, Leiphiemer,Contador,Horner,Popovych,Zubeldia amongst others, I would have thought you could argue one of the strongest grand tour teams.
No he wont win the tour but its not due to a weak team.

Another good tyre for wet and poor road conditions are vittoria open pave ( best tyre I have ever used for these conditions),you often see them used on Paris Roubaix. These are clinchers and will fit on your ksyriums.

If it was track cycling it would be on there, they just don’t like him.

I think it’s sad thats all, we got a big winner and he gets no credit.

What a load of cock, if it was track cycling he would be part of the GB team run by British cycling hence immediately the on the BC site!

It needs exorcising, no really. I had a similar problem with my gears last year could not find the problem I kept tinkering and tinkering. I ended up stripping the whole thing down and washing in holy water, put everything back relubed and worked perfect.

Agree with Rambo, Isla bikes are excellent for kids. Good resale value too when they have grown out of them.

We have V70 and my advice would be avoid main dealers like the plague their servicing costs are truly astronomical, they seem to work on the principal of work out how much the job costs then double it and if you enter wearing a suit treble it! ( I took ours for its first service and I thought she was having a laugh when she told me the price no………..really). However find yourself a good independent garage and your laughing.

Jackass I am not saying don’t put an 80mm stem on. Im just pointing out that going from 100mm to 80mm is quite a big jump ( why not try 90mm first? ) and it will make your steering faster ( i.e tiny movements will be magnified), which may well have a negative effect on your bikes handling and feel, particularly if your’e not confident at speed on a road bike in the first place. You may notice nothing or it could scare you shitless the first downhill you do at speed on less than dry roads.

You can try but beware 80mm stem may well make for a rather twitchy nervous handling bike which could be far less pleasent than the stretched out feeling you have at present.

If you can wait its just the type of bike which will be discounted at somewhere like evans or leisure lakes in Sept Oct. Although I bet your gonna say but I want it now, if so why not try something like the Ribble sportive.

Then I would seriously consider the synapse possibly 2-3 hundred more, but you get full carbon frame and same groupset.

I like dales I had a CAAD3 many moons ago, light n stiff. I’ve always been under the impression six’s are very good, they seemed quite popular at one time , however unless you are going to race a lot I would consider getting a synapse instead, great bike very comfortable I came very close to buying one a couple of years ago. I know teams such as liquigas have used synapse’s instead of sixes on races such as Paris Roubaix.

I would recommend you take a look at the Time speeder ( slightly crap name I know).I had a time edge first the predecessor to this bike and it was truly excellent, a really great frame. Time make brilliant frames which have a great pedigree and are really well finished. Apparently it was also very highly rated by cycling plus last month. I think they are about £1600 with full veloce.

Ton personnally I would forget all the: I only needed, and I did it in this time, as firstly they are not you and secondly you get far too many Walter Mitty characters on here. Remember it is not an ego trip its going to be fun,and it will be.IMO You want a compact or triple with a big cassette on the back 26,27 or more. Pack lots of layers and remember to take lots of pics.

Over the years I have done quite a few including
    col du tourmalet
    Col d’Aubisque
    Alpe De Huez
    mont Ventoux
    Col du Galibier
    Croix de Fer
    col de Peyresourde
They are just big not steep but long, relax your not in a race, get into a comfortable gear and cadence and just ride.

No! someone on here will be happy to diagnose you and sort you out.( They are good like that on here , all ex GP’s just taking a rest from the medical life stacking shelves at ASDA so they can hit the trails and chat on here more often ).

Never ridden in June I’ve always gone later but what I would say is it can still be very cold at the top of the cols. The temperature difference can be quite marked from the bottom of the valley to the top of a big col. It’s alright going up, but can be F***** freezing when you stop and coming down.

    built in China

along with most manfacturers who now build some or all of their frames in the far east. IMO this, it comes from europe so it must be good, its built in the far east so it must be inferior quality, xenophobic nonesense. Having said that I do believe their was a recall on some of the forks recently.

The bargin of cervelo range has got be the S1 they have been making it for years , it used to be the soloist team. Its probably one of the very best aluminium frames being made today. With decent groupset it will build to a very light, stiff bike which I regularly see at races. If you have plenty of cash and you want a more relaxed ride, aimed at sportive type rider, go for R3.Cervelo make incredibly good frames, which are very highly thought of, they are up there with the best; colnago, pinarello, look, time etc.

I did the same 2 years ago but stuck it for a whopping 8 months. Can’t imagine ever going back unless I was actually struggling to find money to buy food.

Bedmaker please don’t! As you clearly realised neither schools, kids or parents want teachers who dont care about the job.

Be careful you don’t train only to find there are no jobs. Certainly in Primary there just aren’t the jobs around anymore, with lots of people chasing a few temporary or maternity leaves. Also sad to say but I suspect your age will count against you, if you are up against a 20 year old with similar qualifications they will probably go for the 20 year old.Sorry to sound so negative.
