A lot of the bikes mentioned are nice bikes but they aren’t what I would suggest for “training” on or commuting, they are race bikes. You would be better of looking at a specific trainer/audax/light touring bike. I am not saying some of these aren’t nice bikes but buying one and then commuting on it is like buying a 6″ Full suss and then just riding canal towpaths and fire roads.

As aP says buying any bike without physically sitting on a bike and getting some good quality advice is a big mistake imo.

“he’s a vile and disgusting creature” My brother in law did an advert with him a few weeks ago and said what a really nice bloke he was, very unassuming and easy going, didn’t act the big star at all. I often wonder if our perception of these people through the media and the reality as real people are very different.

Shave your arse I guarantee you won’t even manage your current 80 mile limit . Simpler more effective ideas would be; ride more, change your saddle, get some shorts with a better insert. Personally I would go for the former and the latter as a start.

Will the bike make you go faster or longer?-no ( and anyone who tells you different is either trying to sell you a bike or has listened to too much marketing bulls***). If you really want to go faster and longer then spend a fraction of the money on a coach.

isla bikes are excellent and the good thing when they have grown out of the bike they have very good resale value. I sold our cnoc16 for £90 4 years and 2 kids later.

Munqe-chick, give him a break he’s 24 years old!! and would get absolutely F**** all out of the rest of the giro so why does it put a downer on his 3 stage wins,3stage wins!!!! , most riders don’t get that in their career let alone in 1 GT,which btw he completed last year!!!.I think he has already nearly 50 days of racing, which considering his age and number of years pro is a lot.

Exactly Joxter Cavendish like McEwan shows the ability to be versatile in the final stages of a sprint which you probably couldnt say of riders such as Cipo or say Pettachi, both great sprinters btw.

I chatted to him waiting for a set of lights to green last year does that mean I can call him Cav.

Cipo was without doubt a great sprinter and personality but he also relied heavily on a train leading him to the wins, Cav uses a train but also has the ability to win races without ala Robbie McEwan (another very exciting sprinter). At present for his age their are few if any past sprinters who had such an impressive palmares( it took cippollini almost his entire career to win milan san remo). Also there is this idea he needs to become a good climber he doesn’t! Most sprinters need to climb well enough to come in within the time limit and be able to contest future stages thats all as in gt’s stages are often clearly defined as to what type of rider will contend them. As for finishing GT he only turned in pro in 2006- 2007 ffs and left the tour last year to go to the olympics. Will he be the best , who knows, at present he is very very fast and crucially imo in a very very good team.

It may be of interest to you, there is a guy on veloriders selling a kurt kinetic pro ( v.good trainer) which you may be interested in. Trainers make good s/h buys as often people only use them a couple of times and give up.

If its a gift you pay no inheritance tax on it as long as she lives for 7 years. I think the tax reduces each year to 0 on 7th year. So she pays your mortgage off and as long as she lives 7 years your ok.
NB This is what I understand to be the rule but I am no tax expert or accountant.

Another win, friday should be good for him too as it will be another sprinters day and Florence is close to where he now lives. Apparently the mayor of his town is going to give him the freedom of the town if he wins in Florence.

Tubs can be quite expensive and to a certain extent like everything you get what you pay for however vittoria corsa cx are good value , veloflex crits are very good but also quite expensive. Conti make some okay ones too like their comps although they can be an arse to fit.Conti glue is very good and I would recommend highly.

Leggyblonde you get the points mainly for wins!35 TO BE EXACT and first few places, 30,26 etc ( 35 for 1st down to 1 for 25th on flat stages)and intermediates( 6,4,2 for 1st second and third) so coming in behind hushovd on a mountain stage will have COCK ALL to do with it as there are no points awarded for finisher after 15t or 20 th . Thats why they have a king of the mountains jersey too!!!.The points jersey is contested on flat stages not mountain stages..

Cipo didnt win green because he always slopped off after the flat stages untill they stopped inviting him.
Pozzato???-is a good classics rider but when has pozatto ever outsprinted Cav.
I think milan san remo shows Cav can climb, easily aswell as McEwan ( not noted as a good climber at all)
Cav would have finished last year if he hadn’t left to prepare for the olympics.
Both Hushovd and McEwan have both got their best years behind them.
I suspect his biggest threats if he rides will be Bennati or if he’s fit to ride or Friere ( not as fast but very consistent and last years green winner).
