Chipps’ weighs in at 32 lbs. Not bad at all and would be lighter with an air rather than coil fork.

…or a Koxxs 26″ wheeled hardtail, with steep head angle and worn out flat pedals for the fastest DH time. I think it may have lots to do with the rider.

After double pinch flatting on his race run and therefore getting a DNF. My boy Nial had another run on the DH (just to see) and he got a 1.48.

He just wanted you all to know 🙂

Did anyone get any pics of the Police falling off their mountain bikes? If so can we have a copy.

And have you got contact details for them Tony so I can get them to come and do some skills training?

He bust open his CS gas canister and broke his handcuffs. Classic.

I might have to have a spin on one this weekend if theres any knocking about Brant?

You’ll be able to have a go on my bike at the weekend. No problem.

It’s generally grippy in the wet and you will be fine. The xc course will be grippy in the wet. The dh has a section with plenty of rocks on and some of them are slate (which is not so grippy when wet). Decent front tyre that you trust would be my recommendation with a fast roller on the back.

Anyone know if you can fit CX knobblies? I take it you can in terms of it being 700c, just want to be sure that you can clearance wise?

I’ve had a 29er wheel with big 2.3? WTB Stout in the front. Don’t know about the back, there looks to be plenty of clearance, I guess it’s down to it being rim brake at the back.

The Ute is a good way in to the long bike thing. I just use mine for carrying kids on and enabling family rides. They are relatively cheap and much fun to ride.

Last chance for a guided pre-ride of the xc, dh and trials courses tomorrow night from 7pm.

Sounds like the Froggy would fit the bill then. Blood is a hooligan, it just depends how much rear cush you want.

It’s lots of fun. Feels like a big big. Great to play on.

I’ve got them (2.35) as rear tyres on 2 of my bikes. Good fast rollers in hardpack / loose / wet grass. As above they do let go in a controlled way. Sidewalls seem pretty robust as Maxxis usually are. OK as a front if you want a fast xc experience.

Size wise they are like other Maxxix 2.35s. Different profile to Vert Pros, so you’re OK there!

White is not a slimming colour but the Kona Stab Supreme don’t give…

It likes big, fast open tracks which is all white really.

I do and I’ve got little fingers. One finger braking is more powerfull and allows the best grip on the bars with your other three fingers. That is if you’ve still got all your fingers.

Middle finger braking gives a weaker hold on the bars. Just try gripping your other wrist, waggle your arm and see which combo gives best grip.

Me on The Ginnel, which will be part of the DH course.

Nial on one of the berms which will be part of the XC course

Emily not quite on the see saw which may very well be part of the Trials course.

Everything is compact and intense at Lee Quarry. It won’t take much practice to get the lie of the land.

The trails have originality and pack plenty of variety in a small space so I think it’s worth the trip up for you. I’m yet to talk to anyone who has not been impressed.

Brant will be commentating and you wouldn’t want to miss that would you?

22/36 is good. Quite a jump when you go to the granny but you quickly adapt with a shift at the back to compensate.

Both are good forks, I’ve got a pair of each. You can get Revs cheaper.

If you’re going to singlespeed a Blue Pig I’d use a Blackspire Stinger, bb mounted chain tensioner.

Put your money into the fork, it can be done. Singlespeeding it will save a bunch of money.

The Ragley bikes will take a big fork. The mmBop prototype is being ridden in Calderdale at the moment with a pair of Marzochhi 66s.

Brechfa trails are some of the best I’ve ridden. Had a 5 hour berm fest there last Sunday. WOOP!

I rode the Blue Pig down “The Blue Pig” if that’s any help. I rode it down Pecket Well B as well.

You’ll be fine. Just remember not to hang too far off the back, and make sure you send it…..preferably to Jesus.

DaveyBoyWonder – YGM and sorry for the delay. See you tomorrow night. If you do go up there earlier than 7pm, let me know (email / phone) then I won’t wait for you at the car park.

The pre-ride will go from the car park (behind the Kingfisher Centre on Futures Way) at 7pm for anyone else interested.

I was happy to beat Ed-O on the same bike!(pending re-released results)

Maybe, but I’ve got the best beard – no re-released results pending on that one.

Been out on the Mojo tonight. I swapped the Fox 36 for a Magura Thor for more of a trail build. Such a good bike – singletrack, rocks, drops, whatever.

No reason not to run singlespeed, especially with calves like yours 🙂

See this is the thing, I can well believe that slacker is better for steep, Calderdale down hills and doesn’t make much difference to the slow slog back up, but what I can’t quite fathom is how it is going to work slicing through woodland singletrack?

I’ve been riding my Ragley Ti a lot at Lee Quarry where there’s some great flowing singletrack as well as berms. Short stem / wide bars and aggressive riding style is where this bike is at and that combination means sharp handling fun and the option of hitting rock sections and way steep stuff as well.

Nice pics Dave. Glad there’s one of me riding a bike and not just being naughty.

Ed-O: are you willing to talk about the BluePig and Mmmbop or has Brant sworn you to secrecy?

I’ve only really ridden the Ti.

    Rossett Ghyll yes.

Lopes Link does stiffen the rear. It is a noticeable difference.

Great weekend, cheers to the organisers. Nice there was a proper kids race too.

Nial is very happy about winning the Singular frame. Cheers Sam for putting it up as the prize for the Under 15s!

If you’re going to bash into stuff get a Bob. If you’re just on wider tracks go Extrawheel. The review on the homepage is from 2007 and I think that model is now changed.
