    Any used hkt xxl simple life? I’m thinking about putting it on my Aether9 Al

    Id be interested in hearing reviews on the hope 35 carbon bar too.

    What are hopes 35 carbon bars like? Any one?

    Most people seem to get DT XM481 or EX511 rims with Hope hubs. Seems to be good value and top quality!

    I’m a heavier guy and tend to brake things. I’ve got EX511 and hope pro 4 hubs coming soon.

    5k sounds about rights. What do you reckon

    I’m getting a gloss raw and looking at getting HKT protection kit or Shack Wrap.
    Any other options? Invisiframe doesn’t have Aether9 Al yet.

    The issue isn’t getting the seatpost slammed. The issue about having too much post rise.

    Exactly. Not sure ideally I’d get a 213 and if it didn’t fit they’d swop it for me.

    @joebristol

    Thanks again mate. I suspect that you are right regarding oneup.

    I think the bikeyoke 213 will either be perfect fit or a bit too long. I’ve measured and think it would fit but it’ll be close.

    The 185 would fit for sure.

    It’s a tough call. Do I take the risk? :-)

    I’ve emailed bird regarding the 213 and 185. I’m 72 from BB to rails.

    Getting large Aether9 Al same seat length as large Am9.

    The oneup210 will fit. Not sure about the bikeyoke 213 but the 185 will.

    Am 42 done mostly snowboarding. I’m a covid mtber so been mtbing for about 9 months or so. Been riding and old 26 hardtail. I’ve got a great full suspension bike on the way in the next two weeks. Cant wait!

    Cotic is an iconic British brand. Very nice guys. Only heard good things about them. I have an old bfe hardtail and still going strong. Think there hardtails are one of the best. Have a look at the cotic solarismax more or an all rounder than a charger. They have long chainstays and long so will be pretty grounded. Have a look at Stanton bikes too. They have different styles of hardtails. Only heard great things as well.

    I’ve had the same debate.
    I went with ex511 and hope hubs, debated on dt240 but was more cash and it’s cool to have a bit of Hope Support local

    @chiefgrooveguru Totally understand with about the terrain you ride. Thanks for the point about the torso/legs, makes sense good point. Cheers

    Yes I guess I can cut it down. That’s what I thought.

    Hmm I’ve ordered a 20mm riser bar.
    Maybe I should get a 35mm one instead?

    Regarding handle bar width and riser am 6’2 on large Aether9 Al.

    Ive got Bird bar, 800mm and 20 riser, should I get it less wide?
    And 20 Vs 35 riser on this bike?

    Any thoughts?

    Much appreciated

    Just put an order for a Bird Aether9 Al 130 shock 150 fork. You’d get top specs for 3k. Great customer service and lifetime warranty on the frame.
    Or
    141 Privateer but you’d have to wait for 6 months. 😬

    @benpinnick

    That makes sense. I’ve a tendency to thrash things so I guess 511 rims are the safe option. But as you said it’s better to make a decision now vs down the line.
    I ride many Surrey hills but with trips to Wales and maybe an odd trip to France.
    And carbon rims I guess will feel more lively?

    Regarding wheel’s ATM I’ve specced
    Hope Pro4/DT Swiss EX511 but I could down grade my brakes put alloy bar and not but a couple of hope stuff on there and I’d save 350£ and that money could go towards the carbon rims? Any thoughts ben

    @joebristol

    Went for code RSC so could save 124 if I went for guide Re. Plus save from other bits.

    I wasn’t planning on carbon wheels. But if I save that cash (350) it’s 395£ upgrade for carbon wheels. So hense this discussion.

    From what I’ve heard that it’s the frame, suspension and wheels are number one importance

    I’ve ordered one.
    The raw one in the end size large.

    I hope to get it as soon as possible ;-)

    The only concern is the 200 dropper isn’t too big. But I’m sure bird will look after me.

    Thanks Ben I’ll have a rethink of my order :-) was set for the raw Finnish but the Tungsten just caught my eye.

    @benpinnick

    I’m a newbie, in same boat. I’ve just ordered a Aether9 A . Im now dithering with the raw Finnish or paint Tungsten (it looks great) but as I’ve got a tendency to o trash things. :-) What do you reckon Ben? Raw Vs Tungsten.
    I totally agree with the vibe, I snowboard a lot and when the stoke is high, I ride so much better. And plus having fun is what it’s about right! :-)

    @retrogirl I’ve never used it. But I’ve heard that when it’s plugged into the cigarette lighter the car should be running if you want more powder. Give it a go and let me know.

    Hi Ben. What are differences between the fox dpx2 shock and super deluxe ultimate?
    The rockshox seems cheaper and better?

    ed-

    Joe

    Yeah that’s what Ive heard. Not been overly impressed with guide or guide re been ok but I’d prefer something more solid. But on birds page the code RSC is a 153 extra than the g2r . That’s a bit extra. It all adds up.
    Am about 96 kg I’d prefer to stop quickly.

    Don’t have much experience with shimano breaks. But heard SRAM has more modulation which I like!

    Ben

    The super deluxe ultimate has a new tune coming out?
    Or just tuned to the bike?

    Thanks thanks so much. Much appreciated. Do you mind if chat with you tomorrow or any point? Should I call bird and ask for you?

    Thanks

    Ben

    I’m definitely looking at aether9 C or A
    On the subject of fox it looks like you’ve run out of fox dpx2 when are you going to get them back in stock?
    How come you guys don’t stock the rockshox super deluxe ultimate in 210*55 for the Aether9?

    A couple of things, deore over the slx? Just because it’s better value if you want to keep the price down? Only hear good things about slx ( but you’ve sold out of that as well)

    I’m a heavier dude, would you go for guide re, g2 rsc or code RSC or go for a shimano break.

    I’ve ideally got a budget of 3k ish but it keeps on changing.

    Cheers

    Ed
