    Hi int in getting a new lyrik fork I was looking at some of the 2021 models but if it’s a big change in 2022 model I might wait for that.

    ed-

    Yes I think it’s just the older airspring. Cheap upgrade if needed.
    I have a 2021 pike ultimate at the moment but kinda wishing I bought a lyrik instead. I’m debating on buying this and selling my pike. But is it worth the hassle?

    Great thanks, tempted.

    What’s the C2 airsprng?

    Don’t think it specifys the offet

    Fork offset: 37mm (27.5″), 42mm (29″), 46mm (27.5″), 51mm (29″

    It could be 42 or 51

    Is that right?

    ed-

    I saw that, what offset is it?

    I’m on a trail bike and I’m very happy with it but I do definitely think I might be be off with a bit more travel. But I guess I’ll always like the idea of something new and slightly different.

    Cheers chaps. A fun and helpful debate.

    I’m really having so much fun mountain biking at the moment. Doesn’t matter what bike I’m on. I’ve been snowboarding for Years and it’s the same buzz. Love it.
    An enjoying chatting with fellow people that enjoy the adrenaline and am striving to improve with a massive smile on my face!!

    Cheers guys 👊👊

    @stevextc

    Yes good point and that’s the big question every one has to make that decision.

    I’m new to biking but when I first started out (last year) I didn’t know what was around to ride.
    So I thought a trail bike was pretty perfect for me.
    But as I’m riding more of the fun stuff my mind was thinking about the am9 and one just popped up for a swop. So hence this debate.
    Think it’s easier to stick with the aether9a as I’m very happy with it but it’s that niggling thought of that am9.

    Lol coaching in general is the perfect way to improve. It is however very expensive. But it’s very helpful.
    I feel the pump track has really improved my riding too.

    My skills are still poor but improving. I’m a snowboarder at heart but because of covid and new family commitments mountain biking is my new go to. I’ve been looking it. I definitely enjoy the bike park and more adrenaline side of MTB. Pity I didn’t start it earlier. But the new breed of bikes are amazing and make you feel amazing 🤣🤣

    Lol it’s all good. Thanks for your time and advice much appreciated mate.

    I’m loving the bike. Plus am a big advocate for coaching in general. It just wasn’t really what I was asking about.

    I’m still tempted on swapping the frame. But it’s not the time , yet. I’ll see what next year brings. I think I’ve progressed a decent amount this year and reckon I’m going to improve a lot more next year. I’m feeling much more smooth on the bike now and am popping off the jumps smoothly. Still nothing very big. But it’s about having fun that’s why we do it right 👍

    @bikesandboots

    I got super deluxe not coil shock!
    Plus I’ve got pike not lyrik fork.
    The aether is so poppy. And that’s why I bought it. But it’s definitely very poppy. Maybe a bit too poppy 🤣.
    I definitely have played around with the settings so it feels great. Can still do some tweaks.

    Who said I wasn’t getting any coaching?

    The coaching wasn’t my question.

    Im very happy with the aether9a but maybe I should of gone with the am9 as my riding terrain and style is going more enduro than I originally thought.

    Let’s see but I’m loving my bike and biking in general and I’m progressing well.

    I might look for a frame at a later stage.

    @AlexSimon

    That’s exactly why I bought the aether9a in the first place.
    Cheers buddy

    @the00

    I’d just swop the frame and shock maybe the fork. But it seems like it’s not the best move. The other bike don’t think been ridden much at all. But neither has mine.

    ed-

    Haha ha it seems like we’ll always wondered. Definitely agree on coaching.
    Might look at megneg or coil later on.
    I Wouldn’t consider the change but its only because I saw someone wanting to swap the other way.

    I think you are right! But it’s tempting.
    At the moment I’m really riding 90% the bull track at the moment but that’s closing for winter very very soon. I’m definitely not at The limit of the bike,Yet. But I’m tempted. Don’t think the bike hasn’t been ridden very much. But I don’t know.
    Agreed regarding coaching!
    Thanks for your thoughts

    I was looking for a fun playful bike.
    I’ve got a bird aether 9 and I’m pretty happy with it.
    130/150.

    Think it sits around the reactor in terms of design but it’s probably more playful bike.
    Just another suggestion.

    Only heard good things about the scout but it’s more down country bike

    I’m loving this thread!

    Don’t do it!!! You can get a sausage and bean slice ;-)

    I’ll be tempted in an ebike in a few years, when I’m convinced of the reliability and hopefully the cost drops a bit!

    Let’s keep the banter going

    ed-

    An interesting subject. I’m following.
    I’ve been tempted but just bought a regular MTB. But in a couple of years I’ll be tempted. I tend to break things so I’ve been put off the ebike due to the cost and longevity

    ed-

    I was thinking in the same debate. I’ve got the bird aether 9 in the end. I’m happy with it. But I’m sure the 141 is just as good but different. Think the aether 9 is more poppy and playful bike and the 141 more for the charging.

    So it depends on if you want a more playful bike or more ground flying bike.
    Have a look at the am9 too and build it light. I probably should of done that as I’m riding more park now 🤣

    The aether 9 has a very short back end on the XL so I’d not be sure about that. I’m on a large at 6’2 which feels about right but at 6’3 I’d definitely go with a XL.

    Also it depends on when it is available. It could be months

    @whatyadoinsucka

    Yes obviously.
    I agree.

    But at bike parks most people are wearing full face helmet for a reason

    @nickc

    I totally get what you are saying. And you have a point.

    But 60% of my riding at the moment is in the bike park. I might not be going massive but still, getting bigger.
    The rest of my riding I’m looking for the fun stuff.

    As I said 90% of my riding.

    But you definitely have a point. But I’m 42 and got enough metal in me. (At least for the moment)

    How does the Endura MT500 compare to the proframe? Why the change?

    ed-
    Free Member

    @dave_robinson1

    Yes exactly what I’m looking for. Does it feel ok riding all day with it?
    I guess for mellower days a half shell is in order but most of my riding isn’t very mellow and I’m progressing (I’m still newbie) I’m not hitting anything big but definitely would appreciate a bit more safety. But wanna buy something that I can live with.

    Can’t comment on the Intense. I did look at the 141 but I got the Aether9 in the end because of the fantastic customer service and I’ve been very happy with it.
    The 141 does look good, think the frame is a fair bit heavier and probably rides a bit more like the am9. Between the two if want something more agressive get the 141 or something more fun and playful get the Aether9.
    Happy Searching

    I demoed the 9c and had a quiet a few peddle strikes. I’ve now bought a 9A but with the fork at 150 rather than 140. Don’t seem to have many pedal strikes. Maybe it’s because of the slightly raised BB or because I’ve got used to it, who knows probably a bit of both.

    @bikesandboots

    Ideally I’d demo the Aether9c and Al back to back but Reckon theyed feel different enough. But I guess it depends on how you build them up as it’s not just about the frame. Can’t wait to test my Aether9 Al on more rowdy terrain. Have fun with your decision

    @cany0n

    I’m 6’2 long torso short legs.im on a large.
    It fits ok XL probably be a bit too long plus the XL with such short chainstays isn’t what I’d want.

    The large is what you want at 6’1.

    I’ve got short legs but still managed to fit a 213 dropper on lol.

    I’m looking forward to seeing how it handles in more downhill terrain because today she was flying downhill.

    @wildfires3

    It’s a good comparison between those two bikes. I debated too. I’ve gone with the Bird Aether9 Al in the end. I could pick and choose what I wanted and what really did it was having birds customer service.

    I don’t have too much experience on different bikes. I’ve spec ed the Aether9 Al quite roudy super deluxe ultimate, 150 pike,etc..

    Only been out a few times on it. And it feels very similar to the Am9 but a bit more lively. It’s still poppy but don’t think it’s as poppy as the Aether9c, probably because I’ve put heavier components on it and the frames a little bit heavier.
    I debated on the Am9 or aether9 Al I’m glad went with the Aether9 Al.
    Don’t need any more travel.

    I would of liked to demo the XL Aether9 Al I when with the L Aether9. I feel Im in-between both sizes.

    Good luck with your choice

    I’m 6’2 41 never BMX. I’ve just got a new MTB bike. Don’t need a Porsche I’m happy with my D size ;-).

    I’ve been ridding my local pump track on my hardtail and been loving it. Plus been hitting (very badly) a couple of dirt jumps, so much fun.

    I’m also looking at getting a BMX. Maybe I’ll buy it and sell it on quickly but maybe not, it’s cheaper than going to the pub.

    Give it a go, I will. Let’s do it

    Great helpful advice 👍

    My garage/workshop has two doors to get in. I guess. A decent anchor and an alarm of some kind.
    But I guess if they really want it they’ll take it.
    But think there’s plenty of cars and nice motor bikes to steal before mine.
    But i don’t want to take any risk!

    Please keep the advice coming .

    Cheers
