Was vaccinated on Tuesday, fine for about 10 hours, then horrible shivers, nausea, stomach issues. Spent all day in bed yesterday. Feel more or less normal today, just slightly achey arm.

My Fitbit heart rate trace for the day looks quite interesting.

I think they’d love to be the first Trust in the UK to do so.

Ah, maybe that’s why Nottinghamshire accidentally opened up their list to over 40s yesterday!

The big centres and Pharmacies are booked via the national booking service.

Some areas also have a local online booking service.

I have a pixel 4a in a spigen rugged armor case. I’m not particularly enamoured with the phone tbh, it’s too big, but it’s been dropped several times (because it’s too big for me to comfortably hold in one hand!) without issues. Previous phones also had spigen cases and I’ve never managed to break one in one.

4a 4g and 4a 5g take different cases so remember that when purchasing

Turns out Notts accidentally (?) opened up their booking system to all over 40s.

You don’t necessarily need a structural engineer. We had building control out and they said they wouldn’t require calcs if we used certain size of beam.

We did a most of the work ourselves to cut down on costs, so I sorted out a skip, bought the beam, applied for building control, we just had a builder in one morning to install the beam itself (100 quid). We then knocked the wall out underneath ourselves and he came back a few days later for his props, and then we made good ourselves.

Getting vaccinated tomorrow as they’ve now moved onto the over 40s here, having worked on government projects in the past I’m quite impressed at the speed of things.

I quite enjoyed working nights stacking shelves, always could see what you actually achieved at the end of a shift. I remember there were a few grumblings that I’d got put straight on the fresh food aisles as a new starter as that was apparently a high responsibility position but nothing more. Was more pleasant than working on a production line for sure.

Another scene I’d would have included would be when the owners come back and they say “sorry the watch was unrepairable, so we binned the old movement and I’ve stuck a casio digital watch on instead. Hope that’s okay?”

I’ve seen an episode where they were restoring a radiogram or something like that where they pretty much just bought a similar one on ebay and replaced most of the one they were ‘repairing’ with that. Didn’t seem quite in the spirit to me

First 10k ever run in my life today after starting running mid January when the pools closed, fairly slow but felt fine apart from my feet which now have blisters.

I’m giving up until I can get to a shop now. As of this morning I now have 5 pairs of shoes waiting to be sent back. My requirements are basically “do they feel comfortable when I put them on?” Two managed to pass that test, but one pair is too big and the other too small (i think) for running in. The pair i suspect are slightly too small are too expensive to take a risk with as I’m only a casual runner in the absence of other options.

No advice but I’d be interested to see how you go about construction.

We have a single storey flat roofed outbuilding/coal shed attached to our house which has a south facing wall where I’d like to build something similar.

We bought one last year when our old machine died. I actually first saw the recommended on here, mainly on the basis of the 7 year warranty they were offering at the time.

It washes clothes, reasonably quiet, has a load of different cycles that you only use two of. Much like every other washing machine I’ve owned at the 6 month mark tbh!

One pair of shoes arrived this morning, immediately discounted due to weird bumpy bit under heel which i guess is meant to serve some sort of purpose but just feels like there’s stuff stuck in your shoe! Back to the drawing board

The word you’re looking for here is “shibboleth.”

Nope, not looking for it. Perfectly aware of the definition, but 99.9% of people will understand ‘test word’ not so much shibboleth

I had La Sportiva recommended elsewhere, and would have ordered alongside the Boreal but they didn’t have my size in stock.

Hoka are also doing the 30 day trial thing, but I’ve heard they’re a bit marmite. They look horrible, and also everything i looked at was out of stock in my size but they might be next on the list. Expensive though

It would be easier to be honest, if shops let you filter by sizes in stock, a lot e.g Inov8, the filter only restricts to sizes the style comes in, irrespective of whether they are in stock or not.
Confused about the width fittings on womens shoes there, as they say 1 equivalent to a B but I thought I read that women’s shoes are generally a B fitting anyway.

The Asics were actually too wide/loose so doesn’t sound like Nike Pegasus would be a good fit for me. My feet are very skinny (OH calls them skeleton feet!) and low volume. Generally I need to try on at least 10 different pairs of shoes to find a pair that will fit – the Boreal’s will be the 5th pair i’ve tried on this week so hopefully getting closer! I have awkward feet, so trying to buy in lockdown is a pain

Give us an idea of what you need and what you’ve struggled with and someone may be able to suggest some ideas.

    @lunge
    – thanks, but being female and size 5.5 I’m not sure there’s going to be a wealth of information to be found here :-)

I managed to try on 3 different pairs of Asics last week in Decathlon and they just don’t fit my feet. I’m currently running in some old Salomons so ordered some new Salomons but they will be going back. Size wise they’re fine, but just not comfortable.

I now have some Boreal Saurus on the way so I’ll see how they feel, they’re disgusting colours though as are most women’s shoes. I’m running off road, but on fairly hard packed surfaces mainly, but hopefully i can get them muddy quickly if they fit! I’m trying the Boreal as i currently have a couple of pairs of their approach shoes that fit well.

I’m a reluctant runner (only running due to Covid, would normally swim for exercise). Biggest issue for me right now is trying to find some trainers to fit. I’m currently running in shoes that are 6 years old and have seen better days!

I didn’t think his accent was that bad, but I think there was something about it that she just could not process.

Many Americans struggle with British regional accents (some Brits do too!). When i lived in Missouri I worked with people with fairly strong Welsh (Valley), Glaswegian and Geordie accents. I’d often have to ‘translate’ what they were saying for some of my American colleagues.

Accents are great anyway, I never tired of overhearing an Italian colleague talking about Sheet Piles :-)

Yeah, I paid an extra £100 for my bike to not have one of the two standard colours offered.

I would have preferred not to have a black and pink bike but it was 500 pounds cheaper than the black and red one so black and pink won.

My main requirements for my last car were ‘not silver’ and decent cupholders

I’m starting mine off this weekend.

I’ve got some Hungarian Black which were a great success last year and some others that I got from my secret santa but can’t remember the name of.

Mine all go outside so no point starting them off too early, whenever I’ve tried to keep them in doors they get infested with greenfly.

Would it not be a no-fault claim?

No fault claims can still increase your premium as can no fault accidents. I had a no fault accident in my dad’s car as a named driver. My premium on my own car increased due to no fault accident at renewal. His premium increased due to claim.

What roof covering do you have currently? It should be reasonably straightforward to remove that, put celotex down and then a new roof covering over the top.

That’s how ours is done, roof boarded, celotex then roofing shingles fixed through the celotex into boards. Hardest part was finding the right length clout nails iirc

Dunno about you but I don’t drink 3+ cans of pop a day

1 can of pop equals about 15 coffee pods, have you not noticed they’re quite a bit smaller?

    ebygomm

I actually read something interesting the other day that said that a lot of the environmental impact of coffee is growing the coffee in the first place and as pods use/waste less coffee to than other methods they’re not actually that bad from an environmental point of view.

Nespresso original pods are aluminium and can be recycled. For some reason people still get upset about it but don’t seem to be bothered about soda cans in the same way.

If I was looking for a coffee machine now, I might not buy one because my usage has changed. But when I bought it I was working away from home so only making 3 or 4 coffees a week.

Mentioned to fitter we were looking at IKEA -he said we would be fitting it our selves 🙂

I wouldn’t trust any kitchen fitter who couldn’t fit an IKEA kitchen, doesn’t say a lot for their ability

Cleaned and refilled the feeders this morning, 10 mins to go

    The count so far

    robin 2*
    goldfinch
    wood pigeon
    sparrow 7
    crow
    blackbird 2*
    great tit 2
    greenfinch 2

*I haven’t seen two blackbirds or two robins in the garden at the same time, but they are def different birds (1 female blackbird & 1 male and 1 skinny robin and 1 fat robin) but think technically I’m only meant to count as 1.

Only slightly unusual thing is the one goldfinch, we normally see 4 or 5 or none, not one on its own.

You may have to be careful in coffee shop these days, a lot have started offering nut milks which increases liklihood of cross contamination.

Wasn’t it Tesco that gave you the item and the difference in price if the ticket didn’t match the till? This would of been 15-20 years ago..

Tesco at one stage used to give you double the difference. I remember being charged £9 for some wine that was on offer at £6 and I’d bought 3 bottles so got £18 returned to me.

what happened to B, Q and R ? – we think they’ve become out of stock by the time you edit the order and just get deleted – no warning, no subs – just removed.

The Tesco website lets me know this. If i go to amend my order i get a note about things that will not be supplied and informing that they’ll be removed when i check out.

I actually get a bit disappointed as lately we’ve not made any gains on substitutions as they’ve delivered everything!

Morrisons were absolutely useless when we tried. No option to individually specify substitutions and they charge you the higher price for stuff you do substitute. The order was so incomplete I had to go and do shopping anyway.
