We had trips to ssv once every half term with school (about 40 miles away). Used to drive back via Northern General normally 🙂

My local council consulted on the changes and the vast majority of people voted to remove all exemptions apart from single person discount. Rarely seen so many people in agreement with a council proposal.

I was clearly expecting too much thinking there would be signs to central mk. I’m not sure I took a very direct route today!

Midweek I’m biking in from Yardley gobion, just don’t want to bike so far on the days I’m driving from/to Nottingham

You can pre-clear in Dublin for Chicago. I once flew Birmingham – Dublin – Chicago and was out the airport in Chicago before we were even scheduled to land. And clearing immigration in Chicago is normally pretty crappy.

Always found most trans-atlantic carriers much of a muchness. Although was on a crappy old plane with Aer Lingus and they had a fancy brochure showing you what you could watch on the in-seat entertainment if you weren’t on one of the crappy old planes (there were upgrading at the time). The ‘Here’s what you’re missing;’ bothered me more than if there was just no in-seat entertainment.

I think that they still fly out of Terminal 5 at O’Hare on the return leg, nothing beyond vending machines after security so don’t go through with plenty of time to spare thinking you’ll grab something to eat 😉

We got our worktops from worktop-express and really pleased with them. I think we got the original recommendation from here.

After the op (under GA) she looked like someone had crowbarred her in the face.

The first consultant I saw wanted to do the op under GA but I went to another who would do it with just a local. I think they have to treat you a bit more gently if you’re still awake 🙂

I had all 4 out under local on the same day, never looked like a hamster.

My top ones were the tricky ones as they had curly roots.

We went with Ikea precisely because I couldn’t be bothered with all the games around 50% off this week only [strike]every week of the year[/strike] that a lot of kitchen suppliers seem to play. It was half the price of the ‘60% off offer if you buy before the end of the week’ quote that we got from homebase.

Is this the back end of the Single Status shenanigans?

It’s been tacked on to that at my former workplace. Despite working there for 6 years, I joined after it started and have left before it was implemented!

On bridleways, I thought that cyclists had to give way to walkers and horseriders

You often see the signs “Cyclists give way to walkers” but I’ve never quite understood how you give way to slower people when you’re traveling in the same direction?

Not mainland spain, but in mallorca the small print of the companies that had a pre-pay option on the fuel said you could pay up to £100 for a tank depending on the car.

I’ve always had to declare an accident I was involved in when driving a hire car. although never quite know what to put when it asks for the value of the claim. And it does (or did) increase my insurance.

I’d have said something to her first, and then to the lifeguards if it was really an issue.

Could be somebody who was shortsighted as well.

I read an article a while back that talked about childcare in Denmark v the UK and the amount spent by the state was very similar for both but in Denmark they paid for provision whereas the UK provided more cash benefits.

    Here we go

Britain is one of the biggest investors in families across the OECD countries, spending 3.6% of its GDP on family benefits in 2007. Only Denmark and France spent more, at 3.7% each.

But it is how this money is spent that is under scrutiny. In terms of better outcomes – such as the ability to lift children out of poverty and to increase female employment – Britain lags behind countries that spend less, such as Sweden and Finland. The Nordic countries tend to spend more on services to families than cash benefits. The UK does it the other way around.

Apart from the “colourways”, is there any reason why shoes need to be female-specific?

Perhaps because a lot of men’s shoes don’t come in smaller sizes?

Winter boots are toasty warm 🙂

More seriously I just wear hiking boots/approach shoes with decent socks.

We’ve got a neff oven, gas hob and extractor. When i looked the more expensive ovens just seemed to have more features that we wouldn’t use so we got a cheaper oven and spent more on the hob and extractor mainly for aesthetic meetings.

Suspect different end of the spectrum to what you’re looking at as all 3 were £1000

    same language, etc

You know Swedish is a different language to Danish, right?

The fact that Saga couldn’t pronounce Rohde was brought up multiple times in the first series, although to be fair a lot of the time they didn’t bother translating the little digs made.

Bombay Indian Brasserie on Mapperley Top is a decent Indian restaurant.

4 cups of coffee a day is ok (recommended max is 5)
Contary to popular opinion it doesn’t matter were the liquid is coming from (and 20% of liquid intake can come from food) so if you’re not thirsty that could be fine too.

I often only drink 2 cups of coffee and 1 cup of tea in a day

Are you worried that 4 cups of coffee is too much or 4 cups of liquid is not enough?

We’ve been a couple of times as a winter sun destination. Not done any mountain biking but saw lots of tracks that would be perfect.

Lots of walking, both easy levada walks (although some require a head for height!) and more mountainous stuff.

We’ve stayed near Calheta a couple of times, which does have a sandy beach (artificial) but found plenty of pleasant snorkelling spots too.

We completed on the around the 18th of the month, payment being made at the end (28th) and I expected our first payment to be 1 month + 10 days, but we only paid the monthly payment.

Variable speed limits.. dear me.. a great idea ruined by mass stupidity

The areas I’ve travelled on where they’re used seem fairly successful, M42 going into Birmingham and bottom of the M1
