On a somewhat related note, is there anywhere round milton keynes where you can try out different wetsuits. I’m not keen on my current one but not sure if it’s just wetsuits in general i dislike swimming in or this one in particular.

Tends to be higher gains in a wetsuit for weaker swimmers.

The thing that gets people cycling is not improving cycling facilities but making driving less attractive. Far more cyclists in Nottingham than Milton Keynes, and Nottingham have been busy making things worse for drivers for years 🙂

Nottingham city own the only piece of national cycle route in the whole country that you have to pay to ride along so I’m not sure that they really support cycling.

Landform panorama is still available but there’s also a new height product OS Terrain 50 available as Opendata which isn’t 30+ years old

I’d try the rash vest first, Decathlon sell them cheaply. You may find it improves as the water warms up, I suffer far more when the water is cold.

Do you breathe to both sides?

Are you sure it’s actually the seam that’s the problem, rather than just the movement of your neck against the edge of the suit as you breathe? A rash vest helped but didn’t eliminate the problem for me.

I’m doing the Derwent Epic swim. Did Ullswater and Conniston last year, which due to the weather were completely different events.

Other advantage for us with a gas burner is no issues taking it on a plane.

We got one for our trangia a few years ago. A really good investment imo. It’s great to be able to cook on a stable base and adjust heat.

New HMO rules in a lot of university cities mean it’s not as simple to rent a house to share as it once was.

The average 29k graduate salary is calculated by looking at graduates entering graduate schemes and the like. It completely ignores the fact that many graduates will not be doing these sorts of jobs or be earning those sorts of wages even though the job they’re doing might list a degree as a requirement.

I’m lucky enough to pay mine back when earning over 15k and until I retire (or die). 🙂

Compound interest means it’s not the highest earners who can reduce the value quickly who pay most, but the middle earners who will pay back for a much longer period.

I’m working in Milton Keynes for a few months and the suburbs seem pleasantly green in comparison to a lot of other places but I find the centre a bit depressing.

Redways are a maze and designed for ambling along cycling as opposed to transport. I’ve abandoned them for much of my journey in now as they’re just too slow and full of mindless pedestrians and dog walkers.

If you’re wanting multiple day trips to Copenhagen I guess you’ll want to stay in Zealand. Nearly all the biking we have done is in Jutland, so not much help.

When I lived in the States I adopted a shortest word possible philosophy. So trash went in the bin, I stuck with lift and torch*, but adopted laundry and gas station.

Rode home from work in Milton Keynes, New waterproof did a great job. Only really ended up with wet feet.

We had a pretty good year considering the late start although won’t bother with celeriac again. Pumpkins being put somewhere else as they took over last year. Otherwise we are doing peas, beans, carrots, parsnips, potatoes and leeks.

Great whites rely on movement to breathe so they don’t sit still to sleep.

I’m doing contract work, paying my own accommodation not claiming it from anyone but I can offset this cost against tax due hence the need for a receipt.

Paying by bank transfer but apparently a written receipt proves the payment but evidence of bank transfer doesn’t.

It’s well below the threshold under the rent a room scheme so no issues there, and only likely to be for 12 weeks anyhow.
