Yeah, you don’t get too much of this sort of thing in the UK.

The river is why I’m thinking of avoiding driving into Reading and stopping in Didcot and getting the train from there as I’m driving down from up north every Monday.

    What’s Didcot like?

The worst one in my view is the
COOP, they spout their much prized ethics while
    giving suppliers the Tesco treatment.

    ^This

In 2012 milk farmers were asking consumers to not buy milk in morrisons, Asda, lidl, coop and Asda due to the prices paid for milk. Funny how the unethical tag just sticks with Tesco.

Timewise it’s doable but costs of a camper one way trip might be prohibitive.

I’ve camped plenty of places around there and haven’t been eaten by a bear. :) No food in tents and you’ll be fine.

I’ve sent a few enquiries via spare room but thought no harm in asking here too, more likely to have space to keep a bike :)

Following on from this is there anyone who lives in or near Reading who would like a Mon – Fri lodger for 3 months?

Made plum jam, chutney and lamb with plum curry today. Still got some plums left over!

I’ll probably only be renting on a mon-fri basis so weekends are out.

Thanks for all the advice, think I’ve probably got a good idea of where to avoid. Now I just need to find a room.

Unlikely to be doing any biking other than a short bike commute.

So if West Reading is bad but Pangbourne is good where’s the border between good and bad?

    Purley on Thames/Tilehurst?

I’m happy to train it in to Reading up to about half an hour, but need to be north of Reading really as will be driving down Mon am. So open to suggestions

Forgot to mention, I’ll only be enduring in Reading Mon – Fri so commuting time more important than being in nicer surroundings. Just want to avoid anywhere totally dodgy.

I’m using an umbrella company at the moment as my initial contract was only 12 weeks. I’m looking at a new contract now so looking into a ltd company but it all looks rather daunting.

The buzz box in my car was fairly easy to locate when it failed (it buzzed but no electrics to lightboard). Just wired in behind one of the rear light clusters.

Was nowhere near the size of a deck of cards though. More like this sort of thing

In my last place of work we bought data that had been collated from energy performance certificates and surveyors like these, it was a pile of poo. Both the properties I’d lived in were marked as having no loft insulation despite the existence of certificates to the contrary. There were a number of houses that had their roofs listed as thatch (there are no thatch houses round here) and there was a ground floor new build flat that had it’s walls listed as being made of cob, with the storey above being brick!

I found Mrs Crimble’s bakewell slices in the shop. Used to be able to find them everywhere but seem to be in short supply now.

I already swim with a club* but I’m currently working away and can only make one session a week so I need to do some sessions on my own.

The pool I’m swimming at has a pace clock but it’s obscured by the pool covers, so I need another timing method hence looking at watches.

*anything requiring consistent pace and I make sure I’m not at the front :)

Looks like my wrists might be too weedy for a swimovate unless you can add extra holes smallest setting the watch goes down to is 14.5cm

Just realised I meant up rhyd du and down ranger or vice versa, not crib goch

Up ranger and down crib goch or vice versa would be my choice.

Can someone with a swimovate do me a favour and measure what circumference it is on the smallest setting. I have tiny wrists, rules out things like the garmin I think.

If it’s something like OS mastermap all line features are likely to be within the same layer in Mapinfo but styled based on attribute data contained within. Exporting to dxf/dwg loses all this styling info (and often all the attribute data as well depending on the export method used)

Worksop to Lincoln must be more like 45 minutes, maybe even more at commuting times.

It’s all ex-mining in that area so not some of the surrounding areas can be a bit grim, but then you’re coming from Scunthorpe so it’s all relative :-)

Plenty of road and off-road biking for after work sort of stuff in the area. National cycle route 6 takes you to Clumber and there’s the Dukeries trail which will take you all the way to Lincoln.

Always thought Christmas was peak season for the Canaries. The places we have rented out over there are more expensive Nov – May than June – Oct
