    @nemisis

A heat map or similar is fairly easy to achieve with the OS terrain 50 data in QGIS

    These were done that way

Disappointed quite a few people at Cosby this afternoon by letting them know the Vulcan wasn’t turning up.

A bit poor really that they were still telling people at the gate that it *might* show up but not to count on it, when the no show was confirmed yesterday.

No chance those charges will stick if it goes to dispute resolution.

Even if something requires replacement you have to account for betterment, e.g. if a damaged carpet is already 8 years old the landlord can’t claim the full replacement costs.

How long had they been there?

You’ve got to hold on to the fact too, that it’s far more satisfying getting stuff done if your before photos look like this

    We’ve been here 3 years.

Kitchen took about 8 months and has been 95% done for the remainder of the time.
Bathroom has been done this year and just finishing touches to do.
1 bedroom is done, the other 2 still require woodwork, skirting, floor coverings.
Hallway and lounge not even started. Lounge currently looks something like this :-)

Does the seat base move out of the way to make a flat floor, or does the back just flop down onto it (like it does in the Leon estate).

Seat base doesn’t move out the way but it’s still a flat floor when the boot floor is in the raised position – boot floor can be dropped by approx. 4 inches

Mine is a 1.6 petrol, it’s v. comfortable to drive but not as responsive as my old corolla was (1.4). I find the gearing a bit random too but love that I can get my bike completely out of sight in the boot. Seats can be lowered from in the boot too which is good.

Toyota do their Verso range and the Avensis estate might be worth a look.

There’s also an Auris Estate now, with wheels off I can get the bike in the boot without putting the seats down.

I justified my most recent bike purchase as two days wages.

As a percentage it depends how much I work in a year.

The guy who caused the Selby rail crash through lack of sleep got a prison sentence, it’s hard to understand that they could prosecute him but not the driver in this case.

Yes there was v. minor damage.

I believe it was there prior to me picking the car up, along with at least 2 other similar marks on the same side, none of which were noted on the form at the time of picking up the car. The two other marks, which I would describe as dings, were actually more noticeable, the mark I am being charged for is more of a crease and crucially was marginally longer than the golf ball check that Enterprise say they use to determine if a mark is chargeable.

Enterprise say that this one mark was additional, the two others were existing and thus want to charge me for the repair.

Since all of them are too minor to actually photograph, my photographs cannot prove that these marks did/did not exist prior to me picking up the car.

In the absence of being able to prove the damage one way or another, I am now disputing that the repair costs are excessive (if indeed they have been done at all)

There was a 5cm long slight indentation, probably from being car doored, only visible if you stood at exactly the right point in exactly the right light. No paint damage. The damage would be in the middle of this photo, but it’s so marginal as to be impossible to photograph.

Bearing in mind 4 days rental cost me £56 how long did the ‘repair’ take?

Those who have seen the photo, exactly what bit of damage do you think is being repaired?

This was also Enterprise. I’ve used them at home and abroad with no problems before, not used this particular franchise before and it was a shambles.

My car hire started at 10:30 in a car that someone was returning by 10:30. There were about 5 people in there all waiting for cars that hadn’t shown up yet.

That is the photo of the ‘damage’, there is no scratch. The white line towards the bottom is the reflection of the chrome trim of the adjacent car.

Even if I had done it/not picked it up etc. can you see damage that would cost £344 to repair on the above photo?

I asked for them to be noted and they weren’t.

When checking out the car I started pointing out minor blemishes and was told that anything smaller than a golf ball could be ignored.

He’s referring to the urine colour not the MSU reading.

but when the nurse checked my sample she said” ooo, its gone pink

Surely if the nurse was just referring to the colour of the urine it would be “ooo, it’s pink” not “ooo, its gone pink”?

I’m fine on trains and planes, can manage as a passenger in cars but find buses really bad.

Too lurchy and esp. if at night the lights mean you can’t see out the windows which compounds the problem.

I just avoid buses, generally anything bus distance is cycleable :-)

It only took them a couple of hours to install the rsj, no material costs hence the cost. Most of the work is in making good and we did that bit ourselves

    ebygomm

But then you’re talking about the old system, where the interest rate is such that they might pay more in absolute terms, but when adjusted for inflation they don’t.

‘Interest free when adjusted for inflation’ is a complete load of rubbish, unless you live in a world where everyone gets a payrise that matches inflation each year…

Building regs for removal of a load bearing wall and installation of RSJ cost us about £160.

Put the building notice in, BC inspector came round to have a look, said no need for calcs if we put an 8 x 4 rsj and 20cm bearing. Bought the beam for £100, paid a builder £100 to install and then knocked down the wall and made good ourselves. Building control visited once more to before signing it all off.

Have ended up buying the Decathlon bike, I may yet end up buying another frame and swapping bits over but seemed worth it just for the components.
