Used AirBnb numerous times without any issues at all.

I do avoid booking places where it looks like an agency is just using AirBnb to rent out multiple properties.

When I booked flights in two parts I left 6.5 hours, still missed the connection :-)

Hadn’t even taken off on the first flight before second flight left!

postcodes are one of the best systems i’ve ever sued. much more precise than US/ French/ german systems

Combined with the US approach for addressing in rural areas they’d be great, i.e. your house number is relative to the distance along the road. Rural areas where a postcode covers a large area are a weakness

Is it not about time we move to a grid type system which expands on post codes to offer up an exact location, one that can be identified form the road or GPS?

There is already a national address database that records grid references for every property.

In Nottingham addresses do not generally refer to the suburb (too much controversy over where one starts and the other begins and people desperate to be in Sherwood rather than Forest Fields), but there are some roads that have a suburb mentioned so they can be distinguished from the other and will only be a few km from each other.

The FIRST tile dictates where every other tile on every wall will sit. Some posters above could have avoided needing tiny sliced tiles if they’d laid their first tile in the correct place.

If you’re working in a bathroom where you’ve got to consider a window, bath edge, doorways, sink etc. sometimes it’s a question of choosing the least worst option.

Is it best doing the walls before the floor?

    We did the floor first

I did my own but wish i hadn’t. It turned out ok, but took forever, and halfway through I was wishing I’d paid someone to do it.

Not helped by the fact that we had to cut an awful lot of tiles, I think one wall has only got 4 full tiles due to the door positioning.

We have a 5 year old Samsung and a 4 year old panasonic. No issues with apps on either but we only use iPlayer, netflix and prime really. C4 app only available on the Samsung.

I have a roku stick as well and find the apps no more or less clunky on that

A question on named drivers having accidents, presumably at renewal time the op has to declare a claim (even if non fault) and also has to declare the named driver has been involved in an accident. Does this get treated differently to if op had an accident as they could then declare one claim/accident?

Really nice! Laser-cut or hand cut?

Neither, cut with a silhouette portrait, sort of like a printer with a knife/blade

We hired with Avis via BA which was about 60% cost of booking separately.

Only negative was got a dodge which drank fuel. The Subaru we’d got in the same category a couple of years ago was much better on that front.

No requirement for international drivers licence

And any suggestions with a sub-5″ screen?

I got a Samsung A3 (2017) like someone up above, it replace my htc one mini 2 and is almost exactly the same size. I’d have preferred a HTC but seeing as they’ve abandoned small format phones it wasn’t an option. Not much other choice either – made the decision easier.

Are you staying a Saturday night away? We used https://www.goodtogoparking.com/ recently. Parking in the official car parks but much cheaper

It does sound like you weren’t paying attention to the difference between sex and gender.

Gender is a social construct, nothing to do with Biology.

Being a man or a woman is, to use your vocabulary a matter of how you think / feel.

Define man or woman without reference to biology then?

Another reinforcement of the notion that being a woman is how you feel/what you like/how you think than it being plain biology…

I went to a local kitchen appliances place/Neff dealer and asked what deal they could do if I committed to buy all 3 appliances from them. Their price beat appliances direct, ao etc. Sometimes you’ve just got to ask

Still had to order in advance but picked up in person

No ferry to Denmark either now, for a short trip flying is the only viable option

Having recently returned from Canada and from earlier trips it’s always surprised me how much the legal disclaimers you sign for various activities, e.g. whale watching & gondola trips waive responsibility for. I know they wouldn’t be valid in the UK but never been sure of the legal position over there.

We got quoted just over a grand for 4.8 x 3m (midlands)

We went for a different option instead (wooden base supported on feet on paving slabs)

We always use autoreisen on the canaries. Cars are a bit older but no excess etc so less worry about damage (We tend to stay places where parking and access can be interesting)

Sounds like you’ve found somewhere now, but the YWCA is reasonably central, relatively cheap and has secure bike storage in the underground parking area (only accessible by key fob).

If a woman was born in 1953, she received her state pension at age 60 in 2013.

But that’s not correct, born at the beginning of 1953 wouldn’t reach state pension age until 62 years, 8 months, 5 days. My mum born in 1950 didn’t get state pension at age 60 she had to wait another 9 months as they were already gradually raising the age.
