probably not, but they would let you change it to a house name.

Unlikely to allow you to remove the number, they may allow you to add the house name.

Hucknall to Loughborough is a hideous commute, especially with the roadworks on the M1 right now. I was doing it for 2 months until I was made redundant yesterday and thought it’d be an easy 40 minutes down the M1….

    Arnold won’t be any better

I’d advise to look somewhere south of the river.

Housing estate off Papplewick Lane you mention is ok, but I wouldn’t choose to locate there and work in Loughborough if other options.

Where’s just to the south of Nottingham? Neither Arnold or Hucknall are best placed for south of Nottingham.

Hucknall has the advantage of easy access to the countryside and tram and train access into Nottingham. There’s a lot of new building going on, a newly pedestrianised high street and it’s gradually becoming more like a suburb of Nottingham than an ex-mining town.

Arnold is just fairly nondescript suburb.

In the interests of transparency I live in ‘ucknall

We encountered this issue when trying to buy a mattress. Order in store for home delivery only, which a) costs money and b) requires someone to be home to take delivery. (Even more annoying as we have an Ikea bed and they keep the UK sized mattresses in store but the Ikea sized ones have to be ordered in)

No way round it afaik, we ended up buying a different mattress that was stocked in store.

Age is calculated from date of last period rather than date of conception which is typically 2 weeks later.

Have you got flights already? Always found it far cheaper to buy car rental as part of a package with flights than doing anything separately.

Only busy bit in Morrisons was the Christmas food to order collection point. Queue of 30+ people, just starting to get fractious.

Post Nord (Danish national post service) says the fault lies with Royal Mail, I was just interested in how likely that was to be true (Post Nord is not highly regarded!)

I’d assumed that between national mail carriers, if the Danish post service had sent it as far as the UK then RM would deliver and vice versa.

Sent from in the EU, it’s not a customs fee.

It’s a fee they’ve applied because they think no postage has been paid. Postage has been paid in country of origin but it is a code not a traditional stamp so a no postage fee has been applied.

Question was whether they have any way of checking whether correct postage has been paid in country of origin?

Nothing in Worksop, North Notts (yet)

We’re not far away (Hucknall) and only got a dusting overnight but it started snowing about 10 mins ago

Lucky to be getting anywhere near 40mph round Nottingham these days! I consider a 20mph average a good day!

At my last surgery I couldn’t book an appointment at all. It’s not that they don’t have any, it’s just that they only book 2 weeks in advance, so every morning there’s an avalanche of people trying to book all the appointments for one day 2 weeks from now. Which is dumb. If I can wait a month, why not let me book?

It’s like that at ours, urgent stuff is ok but trying to book something routine, e.g. for a medication review the surgery insist on you having before issuing your next prescription, requires several days effort on the phone. In theory you can book appointments online but i’ve never actually seen any available

They’d decided to put up “lane 1 closed” messages for shits and giggles earlier – at least I presume that’s why as lane 1 wasn’t closed.

Buy bulbs or wiper blades and a spotty teenager will fit it for you for an extra couple of quid.

Only if it’s an easy job anyway, they gave up on my mum’s car and gave her a refund

    A60/A52/A610?

Just as bad at the moment, judging by the traffic reports and google timings –
both routes say typically 1 hour 40 for evening rush hour

I think i need to work up to doing it on the bike, I’m sure I’ll be able to match the average speed (15mph ish) I’ve had for my journey over the last few weeks. Just not up to doing 50 miles a day right now

I suppose at least on the bit they’ve done already, you get some pretty signs displaying random numbers whilst you’re sat stationary with the handbrake on!

Traffic over the bridge at Gunthorpe has been horrendous when I’ve tried it, although even with that there’s not much in it despite it being 15 miles longer.

We bought ours from Tuin, took a day to build plus a day for the roof.

Very pleased with it, as simple as building lego

Lemon drizzle cake made with mash potato / chocolate cake made with canellini beans. Both substitutes for flour and much nicer than you might imagine.

Is it only for speeding that these fines are applied, or does it include other motoring offences?

Wayne Rooney only got fined £170 quid for drink driving…

We were on Vancouver Island towards the end of September a couple of years ago. We didn’t kayak but i remember seeing groups going out. I don’t remember anything being closed because of the time of year. In Victoria the low season prices for the hotel we stayed a couple of nights in didn’t start until October.

Weather was decent too, this was September 26

We were there early in the season so although the weather was great a lot of trails were still shut due to snow. The high up photos I think you’re referring too are actually just a walk we did from the gondola near Jasper. There is a walking route up there but was closed when we were there. We did have a book, will have to look up the title.

I really enjoyed the walk up we did at Squamish too, that was just something I’d found online.

Mostly we just looked up routes at the visitor centres, at the time of year we were there local knowledge of trail conditions is valuable.

When we bought our solicitors were also acting for the sellers but forgot to tell us
    and your point is ?

It’s a huge conflict of interest and there should be written consent on record that both parties are content with it.

I’d probably choose one or the other out of Vancouver Island and Jasper/Banff rather than trying to do both in the one trip.

Accommodation wise we camped for the most part, but we stayed in an Otentik just outside Jasper which was nice, i’m presuming if you were looking at RVs you’re not looking for super luxury accommodation.

Eagle wing tours for whale watching on Vancouver Island, bear watching out of Tofino is great too.

Canoeing on Maligne Lake if at Jasper. We also really liked Wells Gray and there are lots of canoe camping options there.

Local rivers* here too in primary school

    Trent
    Don
    Ancholme
    Humber

*one is technically an Estuary and the question about which of houses was not a river occurred in pretty much every school quiz.

That’s very similar to what i have al2000.

Bought primarily for camping, but just took it away on holiday and used it all week. No issues with it in my hand luggage.

On the M1 there’s frequently people sat in Lane 3 (of 4) doing 65mph whilst 1 & 2 are completely empty. I know technically I should be moving out of lane 1, all the way across to 4 to go past but I just carry on in lane 1.

We were in Norway last June, midges and other biting insects not a problem. It’s a great place for a campervan trip.

Canada this June was a totally different matter, I fed a lot of mosquitos!

Where were you meant to be going originally?

We flew to Madeira with Monarch on Saturday, flying back next Saturday.

Looks like this might be the better position to be in than a last minute cancellation.

I’ve been doing Nottingham to Reading for the past 3 years (140ish miles).

As long as I leave early (before 6am) it’s not too bad. Overall i spend less time in the car than if I had a 40 minute commute every day.

It helps that I have a couple of different options that are all similar distance wise so can choose which way to go to avoid anything major.

If staying away, try and find a Monday to Friday place where you can leave some stuff. Having some sort of base makes a big difference
