Just take antihistamine every day and it seems to work

I’ve found that when I take them regularly for hayfever I can get fatigue regardless of whether they’re non-drowsy or not, so not too keen on a life of fuzziness.

/anecdotal/ I’ve also been told that some people with milder allergies just get used to dogs after a while. Mate of mine at uni said that when he went home he was sneezing for the first few days but was fine after that. /anecdotal/

    Thanks Cougar, useful stuff.

We’re probably looking at Schnausers – I like the poodles I’ve met but they’re almost as big as my partner. The dogs I’ve spent most time with are her folks (Westie) and the neighbours (2 pugs). I’m pretty much ok with the Westie, but then I take drugs before going. The pugs make me a bit sneezy, but then they shed everywhere and lick everything to death, so they’re probably one of the worst options!

How much do you* want one?

    *your missus obviously

I’ve told her she can have dogs or kids. I like dogs more than kids!

Ah, hadn’t actually checked stock – looks like I’m waiting as I can’t see my size either!

It’s going on a SC Heckler, so single pivot and would probably benefit from a climb switch. Have to say I don’t feel a massive benefit using the one on the current shock though (basic Float CTD).

fitnessischeating, where did you pre-order from?

Thanks – didn’t even know they made that! If this doesn’t work it’s either that or get a new shock.

But if you’re getting paid to do something for 2 years, doesn’t that effectively make that your job – i.e. you are a professional juror for 2 years?

96 people lost their lives. Do you not think their their families deserve justice, regardless of the financial cost?

Of course – I’m just curious about how being selected for such a jury would impact the jurors. Aside from having to listen to all the awful details of it for 2 years. Wonder if they get offered counselling as well after particularly bad cases?

Actually looks like very fair compensation. Taking 2 years out must have an impact on people’s careers though – skills could easily become out of date if they’re very technical. Would imagine/hope that would also be a reason for being excused though.

I think it’s great, mindless entertainment for when you don’t want to watch anything serious or read. Some of the faces the Manc dad makes are brilliant, and Scarlett (the lass from the NE – yes, I even know her name) is hilarious!

I couldn’t scroll either until I logged in – guessing it’s another ad issue as I’ve got them set to “off”.

I’d have thought the blues at BPW would be perfect. You get all the fun of going down without the pain of going up! When I’ve gone out with new people before the fitness has been the biggest issue – often found they can’t really enjoy the downs because the ups have taken too much out of them*.

No such thing as “your” CV – have a good/great base cv and tweak according to job

Would also echo that. If you’re not doing it already, try to tailor your CV to fit the job spec every time you apply. Had one recently at work where they quite clearly hadn’t bothered to change it (though the covering letter was good). If the pool of candidates had been larger they’d probably been rejected at 1st pass, but ended up seeing them and they’re actually a good fit.

I’ve been there, was out of work for a year after getting my PhD and it starts to get to you. As has been said, regular exercise and structuring your days helps. In all honesty though, you’re probably at the point where you have to cast the net wider and look outside your chosen area. Even if you have to move you can keep an eye open for roles where you want to live, and it always seems that the recruitment consultants only ring when you don’t need them to!

Yeah, rode degla the other week though so fancied a change. Cannock might be a good shout, not been there in years.

This happened to us, my girlfriend’s Dad is a white goods engineer and he gave the same advice, though admittedly for a crappy Hotpoint. Probably time to look for a replacement!

Yep, they’re a bitch to get off sometimes, particularly if it’s not been off since new. I got the LBS to get mine undone when it was in getting some work done anyway, they said it was as above, long lever is the key!

Exact same thing happened to me last year, back to just running them into the ground now! Changed it a bit before it got to 0.75 too.

Salt and pepper chicken wings are good. Think the jambalaya is also good if you want something a bit less deep fried! From what I recall the portion sizes are fine, certainly not small but also not massive. We’ve had starters when we’ve been but we’re not massive dessert fans.

I really enjoyed Far Cry 4, you can play however works for you, i.e. run n gun or sneaky sneaky. It’s also stupid amounts of silly fun, things like trying to sneak up on an outpost only for the alarm to get raised because you got attacked by a random honey badger, then having to ditch the stealth plan and go head on by jumping on an elephant and charging at them!

First 2 seasons are a bit patchy, but the 3rd season was great. Not seen s4 yet. If you don’t go into it expecting The Thick Of It then you’ll be happy, it’s got a similar concept but it’s definitely not as good!

Worth trying on as well, I got the attack shorts in a medium and for the life of me I can’t work who they’re basing their size chart on. The term voluminous springs to mind!

Also had it when I was a 14 year old, tried to manage it with ice and nsaids for a few months as I wasn’t keen on stopping sport, but eventually had to rest completely for about a month or two and after that it cleared up, though it was about 5 years before it was 100% normal again.

IANAD/P, but I’d guess that continuing to try and do exercise that loads the quads while it’s still there will make it more likely that problems will persist into later life. Might be time for him to take up swimming!

Maybe they don’t like having to stop every 20 yards or so to give way to traffic turning in/out of side streets?
How would running on the road remove this. Cars will simply pull out anyway.

I would have thought junctions would be even more dangerous if you’re in the road. Again, having run on the same pavement I’m struggling to see why they would have chosen to run in the road instead – if they were really concerned about getting a pb/didn’t like the surface of the pavement then there is a big park literally on that road that they could go run in which would be much more pleasant (Heaton park, for those as know Manchester). Admittedly they could have been running home after being in the park, or they may have some very good reason for running in the road that I’m not aware of, but it just seems like too much risk for too little gain.

I should point out that they didn’t get in my way and they didn’t annoy me, I just saw them and wondered “why?”.

Anyway, I agree the runner should be killed

Yep, my thoughts exactly, well done. /sarcasm

I’m not suggesting that people should never run in the road, just that in this situation the risk/benefit ratio seems pretty highly skewed towards risk. I’ve run on the pavement she was avoiding and it’s fine, pretty even all the way along. In contrast, it’s a busy road in a built up area, so i don’t see why you’d choose to run there.

Sounds awful, i think some driver’s tiny brains just can’t handle the extra thought power to worry about cyclists at roundabouts! As above, I’d get on to british cycling 1st if you’re a member. If not, you may want to contact a personal injury lawyer and let them worry about (for a fee of course). Not a route I’d normally advocate, but your injuries sound pretty bad and it seems likely you’ll need lots of time off work and physical rehab.

I like that. Particularly like that you can change the map display settings, interesting to see the big chemical (I assume pollution?) clouds over certain areas!

Eh? The point is surely that flooding valleys is not a cruelty uniquely inflicted on the Welsh (or Scots, for that matter).

Yes, but their point was that the list was pants because it’s inaccurate, not because of anything it showed about the distribution. Hence saying it’s not pertinent to the discussion.

Just a week, had a look at average time between death and funerals (it’s been a very morbid day) and it seems like 7-10 days is normal. So probably wouldn’t need to fly home once out there.

That’s kind of my view – everyone has said their goodbyes as they thought it was the end a few weeks back. However, I doubt I’d be able to convince the girlfriend of that.

Thanks, looks like we’d need to get cancel for any reason cover. Wouldn’t cover any return home though once we’re out there, so might not be worth it…

rice, just boil in some water & salt until done drain the water and stick it in the fridge, 2 mins in the microwave when needed.

Recipe for food poisoning that – rice is one of the things you shouldn’t really reheat.

Could it be that he is autistic?

Why not try to find out and if he is, try to find a way for you to deal with it.

Obviously IANAD, but I don’t think he is. I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone with autism though, and I doubt relying on the depictions on tv would help!
