Come on now keep it amicable 😉.
The broads are an interesting area geographically. Large swathes of low lying land, with relatively low population density. There was an article a few years back by the then head of the EA in consultation with Natural England suggesting the broads would be largely lost to the sea. Does make you wonder just how much effort/resources they put towards protecting the area. I can totally understand Slackalice’s frustration, but as per the op would it not be better to be open with the public that managed retreat is the only option?

It’s colleagues of mine that plan which paths the airlines take across the Atlantic. Google NAT tracks and take a look at the Jeppeson charts that show the specific tracks relative to the jet stream. For Baltimore I would expect your flight to route south of the forecast jet stream, but it’s not unheard of to route north over the east coast of Scotland before heading over Greenland and back down the east coast of the U.S. Airlines, particularly U.S carriers are very careful about avoiding even the lightest turbulence.
More often than not, it’s crossing the jet stream at 90 degrees to the flow that causes mod-severe turbulence. Looking at the forecast it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

    Edit: NAT forecast

Detectorists, series 1 back on IPlayer. Just brilliant. More recently I really enjoyed The Spy, with Sacha Baron Cohen as the agent. Takes a while to get past seeing Borat, but well worth it.

Also loving the long tailed tits. I reckon they appear 3 times a day en masse (about 8-10 birds), stay for a minute or 2, and disappear as quickly as they arrive.
We’ve also got a resident sparrowhawk who seems to have a taste for woodpeckers. Not seen it catch one yet, but the hawk seems to appear moments after the woodpecker arrives.

I’m just under 6’1” and opted for the large Hightower LT. Originally I wanted the mk1 but the geometry just feels right for me on the LT. Bearings will not Last though, regardless of grease. I know new owners get free replacements, but I’m sure bearing warranties are now non transferable. I got my lowers done for labour cost at lbs. At 6’1” I’d recommend going for an xl, I feel like I’m right in the middle of L/XL.

The one they put down when making your bed, whilst you’re changing for bed in first class 😉

Can’t comment on that but the goose down in my Gulfstream 650 seem very comfy.

Mid you , a Jaguar F Type looks interesting

That’s what I thought this time last year, so, in true MLC:
    V8, check
    500+ bhp, check
    2 seats, check
Too scared to take out in the wet, track, or between Nov and April, check.
    Mrs hates it, check
Kept in garage and cleaned after every use, check.

It puts a proper smile on my face though. Noisy wee bugger so it is.

Airliner crash seems pretty coincidental. Just seen video footage online of the plane coming down in a fireball. B737 800 safety record is impeccable, a mid air explosion points to catastrophic event after take off. If the military/govt knew there’d be cruise missiles launched from the area why the **** are they allowing commercial air traffic to arrive/depart.

Been dry now for a month-and I’ve got to work over Christmas, so hopefully I’ll see it into the new year. I’m really not missing it, and I’m sleeping properly without alcohol too. Oddly, it’s the odd G&T that I miss-especially when Mrs EMC drinks one next to me!

I’m not a fan of the non alcoholic wine/beer though. Still expensive for a pretty rank product IMO.

Don’t get the police involved. Wouldn’t even bother with the insurance company, not unless you want them to bump up your premium. Get a second/third quote and ask the other party to cover half the costs.

Yes, and that’s what we have done in the UK. Doesn’t mean the idiots disappear, just means that they are not in the public eye, and that’s ok isn’t it ?

Well kind of, yes. This is partly about not giving the racist tossers the publicity that the tv affords them. Last night was probably seen as a victory for them, just take a look at the guy waving the ***** UEFA top. Shouldn’t give them the air time IMO, although it does need reporting.

They appeared to change for the worse since the introduction of Flux Direct. Always had campervan insurance with them and found them to beat everyone…up till 2 years ago, where they were over £100 more at both renewals. Eventually they prove matched so no worries!

Move on last week when I looked for a quote on a new/2nd car…quite honestly felt patronised and rushed into details etc. They came in over £900 more than Admiral!!! Surely a mistake I said, to which the guy replied “have you ever driven a fast car before!?!?” He told me to check back in a couple of years!! Totally wasn’t interested in swapping my 25 years no claims over to a new vehicle. Lazy shytes.

Thanks for the replies, yes it is a good price, that’s probably why!
As far as I’m concerned if the dealer is happy to advertise the car then they should settle the debt first. I’ve told them I won’t be paying a penny till I see proof the outstanding finance fully settled.

Cheers, yes I don’t feel comfortable paying off someone’s else’s debt so I’ve told the dealer I won’t be transferring any money till I have proof that their debt is paid.
I think my spider senses are tingling, so may give it a miss. The annoying thing is the dealer didn’t declare any outstanding finance before I put a £500 deposit down. Now I’ve got to go through the rigmarole of getting it back!

I kind of enjoyed it. Think Paddy is a natural presenter, and will only get better at the role. But can’t help but think the ‘banter’ (probably manufactured) seemed to verge on the edge of bullying. I found it uncomfortable, and more so that it seemed to stereotype the northern lads (I’m from Bolton btw). What I liked about Clarkson et al is that they took the piss out of each other in equal measure, here though it’s just taking the piss out of Chris….maybe it’s just me

I’ve been recommended doing backstroke in the pool for better posture-I can’t tell you if it’s working yet as I’m terrible at it! I generally only swim front crawl & breast stroke and I think those strokes, while building muscle, are not helping my already bad posture.

Yep, was excellent watching. Really interesting hypothesis about how Mercury got to be where it is…had no idea!
Between that and the Equator from the air the other night I feel the license fee has well and truly paid for itself.

The route up from Brig O Turk is the best for pedalling, but it’ll add an hour or so to the round trip-especially if you take the undulating path To the north of Loch Venachar. I personally prefer the off piste descent from the summit down into Stank Glen, but each to their own!

Without going through pages is Ben Venue worth doing? I remember a Sanny article on the mag a while back but can’t find it. Is it a straight out and back or is a loop possible? Cheers!

Bang on Duir. What’s worse is that the E145 hardly achieves its optimum flight/cruising level before its descending again-either as a result of short hops or ATC level restrictions-Aberdeen to Norwich being a perfect example. That increases the inefficiency of the flight where the DH8D will be up at 230/250 cruising economically for half an hour or so, while the E145 burns through its fuel.

For starters don’t worry too much about your kick. If anything relax your legs so you don’t exert too much energy.

Learn a proper ‘catch’ stroke. YouTube has plenty of decent videos. Keep your elbows high in the water as you draw your arm back-don’t pull your arm underneath your body. A great technique is to imagine doing a pull up-your hands should be shoulder width apart-this is your optimum strength/efficiency ratio. As you pull through the water your hands should be this distance apart which should in turn keep the elbows high.

After that do a few lengths with a kicker board out front and practice your kick-I’m crap at it though at tire quickly!

Why not get a WiFi switch-that still operates as a stand-alone switch? There’s loads to choose from, mostly Chinese made-which invariably means installing an app on your smartphone to control it-you can get these with timers as well. Only issue is you’ll need a neutral wire to connect it.

We’re recently back from a week with the guys at Riviera-which coincided with the start of the hunting season. It was a total eye opener. While we were there a 19year old boy was killed whilst walking his dog by a guy hunting for wild boar. The most extraordinary thing is no one seemed to be that bothered about it-just like it was an everyday occurrence. Delving into just how many people are killed in France and Italy every year made me realise one thing….I’m so glad we had guides who, knowing the locals were keeping us well out of the shoot areas. There’s no way I’d be riding those forested trails solo during hunting season, no matter how awesome they are.
