About 600k in on my 35mm gravel king SK’s, running tubeless. No flats. About 250k gravel the rest country lanes. Can’t fault them. Started off the year at 90kg so expecting the odd flat or two.

Cool, for some reason Zwiftpower filters me out of the results, which is annoying. There’s guys avg over 4w/kg in C not getting flagged so don’t really get it. May just die a horrible death in B cat!

It says minimum cat C, almost B.

Hi guys. Just did that race too (C cat) saw a few of you STW lot in there..rode alongside Ivan for the majority! Fairly new to all of this, but can someone please explain why it’s asking me to upgrade? My average was 3.2w/kg which I assumed was ok…there’s no red numbers on Zwiftpower.
    Cheers & good race, P.Payne

Wish I could get my cat to crap on the neighbours lawn. If she’s out she’ll howl and scratch at the window to come in. She’ll take a dump inside then f back off. For reference, left unchecked, her toleys stink the entire house out. That’s even with the best poo tray technology that the internet offers.

Depends on if you’ve time to repair and to what degree. I’d probably go for a poor condition focus RS mk1 to fix up, or a Clio 200 Cup. Both great track cars.

Edit: forget about the RS, even crap ones are going for over £15k..bonkers

You’re route over Eaglesham Moor takes you on some pretty exposed gravel roads (and can’t think of a decent camping area) personally for the first part I think I’d go (after Barrhead) via Newton Mearns, Eaglesham then over to Strathaven following the small lanes. It’ll save you an hour at least. There’s some decent camping spots on moors between Whitelees wind farm and Strathaven.
Mearns has a big Asda in a small shopping centre to resupply, should have gas. I can always drop off a canister for you to save you the effort just in case they don’t.

Edit-as above the visitor centre is slightly north of your route. The pods are good, but on gravel base

There’s two things I’ll never understand in these wacky times
    1. Why people vote Tory
    2. Why people buy brewdog beer.

If you were turning right how come your left headlight unit is fecked? Was it more of a head-on?

Edit: hold on, was the other car coming from your left? I.e queue jumping the traffic in your (nearly) lane?

I have sort of given up on the videos….but I can do it!! Went through a huge spell of wheelieing about 50m bit only 1 in every 10 times, the rest pathetic 3/4metre attempts. The big breakthrough came when I had to revert to my 29er FS as I’d tacoed the back wheel on my 26ht from all the practice. All of a sudden it just twigged…balancing the bike seemed easier on the full suss, and can regularly pull of 40m wheelies without embarrassment. Did have my first fall last week on a road though…not covering the rear enough. The 2 beers probably didn’t help 😜

And what (financially) is your wife bringing to the table?

Sorry, DLH=Lufthansa. Operated by Eurowings. I presume to get on that one you’ll have to book with Lufthansa, but worth trying Eurowings. I’d definitely check with KLM though. As I said, people/business are not bothering to call KLM to cancel/postpone their flights-so actually the flights are full on paper, in reality they are running at half capacity.

Just spoke to KLM guys inbound to Glasgow, they are definitely passenger flights. Only issue is KLM have obviously reduced their service to one flight a day from Glasgow/Edinburgh/Aberdeen to Amsterdam (assuming you’re from Edinburgh area). This means remaining passengers have been rebooked onto these flights-the problem being is that people are not turning up yet the flights are fully booked. Still, definitely worth calling.

Alternatively Eurowings fly once a day to Cologne from Edinburgh-but I think it’s a DLH flight anyway, so may not be of help.

I know that KLM are still running a daily (if not twice) from Glasgow to Amsterdam and Edinburgh to Amsterdam. I’ll know more tomorrow regarding DLH. Personally I’d book KLM then train.
Edit:I presume these are bookable. It may be they are just cargo, but flight numbers & types remain the same

Was reading yesterday the effects C19 has had on housebuying (apart from the obvious price drop) was people’s wants from a property have changed. Now having a garden is number 1 on the list. But also up there was a room they can work from whereas wanting a garage has slipped off peoples wish list.

From local experience (relatively new build estate) 4 houses have already converted their garages into a study or a kids playroom..so they obviously think so!

It’s not the place on Titwood road near Shawlands is it? They stripped a spark plug on an old Nissan of mine. Amazingly it still fired and I could drive it home. They had the cheek to try and make me pay for the service by handing over the new plugs. Nobheads.

Had a 2001 T4 for 5 years. Easy to work on, just make sure water pump is replaced as often as is possible, they are crap. I had issues with rust on the bodywork mainly arches…but the previous owner effectively parked it next to sea for 10 years! Considering that it was structurally sound, which is probably why I’d give that one a wide berth!

Me. Bought it February this year, and so far it’s worth every penny. I use a combination of Zwift\RGT, both work flawlessly so far (IPad/mobile app).
A few things I considered before buying…its floor space is smaller than the equivalent turbo + bike. For me it’s important as it’s in the house and the smallest footprint the better. Don’t think it’s any noisier than other machines.
Initial outlay is greater but reliability and after sales back up seem excellent. My issue for other smart turbos is the additional wear on chain/cassette, not to mention some terrible reliability reviews on the likes of Wahoo.

The big plus is it takes no time at all to get going. No faff getting bikes on/off. No dirt in the house. Just power on, load app and you’re away.

The only issues I’ve found is during FTP builders, with ERG on coming down from say a 700W sprint to 100W is a pain in the arse. Most FTP programmes I turn off ERG so I’m in control of the gearing(rather than Zwift). Also the coasting could be more realistic-I find myself not coasting as much as I would on my normal bike. No complaints about the changes of gradient…was an issue pre updates but I like the way the Atom reacts to changes of incline.

@Kuco the area north of the wash is a Managed Danger area. The 323 complex. It’s not unusual to see dozens of fighters on an exercise in that area. The area itself is vast so civil ATC to/from Europe have to take a detour round it…even if the military are not playing in it. Generally there’s no sub hunting in that area…that’s what the West coast of Scotland is used for. A lot of the activity involves Falcon20’s pretending to be targets (usually Cobham/Rushden) which has a load of electronic jamming kit on board.
The MDA has now been moved over the UK east coast to cater for the new F35’s…(most of which don’t paint on that tracker)as they’re a ground attack aircraft as well.

In the grand scheme of things there’s very few countries in the world that I’d be ‘proud’ to call home. Understanderbly the U.K. had not been top of people’s most wanted lists, but nay sayers perhaps need to look at their own countries human rights, working conditions & history before casting aspersions.

We had an old ATCO in Atlantic House, well retired now, but he used to own a second property (flat) just down Sherwood road way. Asked him if it’s available to rent short term and his reply was, “naw, I use the place for taking a shite”.

    No, Glasgow airport.

    I am though.

Probably nothing more than the massive reduction in civil air traffic means the military are now playing in areas you wouldn’t normally see them…and they stand out more.
An A400 was doing circuits at Glasgow the other day too. Just cos he/she could.
Plus it’s the time of year for mil exercises/good weather.

    Couple more questions:
Is there any way of enlarging the profile that’s in the mini map?
Also, how do you see your garage, badges etc when not on a ride? The only way I can see it is if I actually start a ride, albeit not connected.

    eat_more_cheese

I’m biased, but I think the road riding is better to the south of the city. Lots of quiet lanes to explore heading over/past Strathaven, Eaglesham, Moscow, Beith, Largs etc. Loads of minor roads to choose from.
The north is still good, but to get there more heavily congested roads, then you’re kinda hemmed in by Loch Lomond to the West and due to the nature of the hills there’s just less roads and a result, more cars. I can’t stand the road up to Milngavie/Drymen, cars regularly tank past 60+mph. I’d rather drive north then cycle from Drymen, but that’s just me.

Try and find the flattest short grass as possible. Too long and the friction just kills the wheelie and I found I just came to a complete standstill. Day 5ish progresses to slight inclines-but don’t think it that necessary. As Ogden says road is fine-I now use the school car park so no one can see me!! Use flats though as you’ll be jumping of the bike backwards.

Day 10 for me (although repeated day 7/8). Coming on nicely. I’m using the local golf course (not the greens or fairways) as there’s some lovely long stretches to practice.
I’ve now progressed to tarmac and the difference is incredible. There’s days of frustration but occasionally I’ll nail it…as a 40+ year old who could never wheelie (properly) I’m over the moon!

Air traffic control. Very worried. Downturn in traffic even before CV. Regional airlines going bust is going to have massive implications on the smaller airfields. Belfast City, Southampton etc very concerned about colleagues’ futures there.
I imagine some bigger airfields-Glasgow for example are going to suffer massively due to Jet2 stopping flying to Spain. En-route traffic still holding up but way down on this time last year. Next few weeks could see some vast changes in my industry.

Misty Law is great, think I sunk up to my knees last time I was up that way, in the middle of summer. It does rain a lot on the west coast.

Strathaven is a good shout, great little community not renowned for mtb but great location for road/gravel riding with good links to M74/Peebles.
One thing worth considering if you have/planning kids is the proximity to schools (particularly secondary). There’s some amazing state schools up here, and some not so good, so well worth doing research regarding catchment areas.

Tbf he’s not denying climate change at all. He’s pointing out that longer term trends are more significant in accounting for the change rather than a short term jet steam adjustment.

The jet stream is in itself interesting, as a conveyor belt to effectively equalise the earths heat from pole to equator. Personally I think the suns cycle plays a far greater role in longer term climate change and am looking forward to the data pinged back from the solar explorer mission launched a couple of weeks ago.

Denying climate change is pointless-it’s been changing for decades, centuries, eras etc etc. But as humans have royally f***ed this planet the idea that we’re causing/accelerating any change can only be a good thing so as a race we can right a few wrongs.
