Great group at the front. Thought it was on for a split at the half way climb, but I’m guessing Harrogate allows the heavier riders (like me) to regroup quickly on the descents. Interesting sprint finish..S.avoyad came out of nowhere to pip me for 2nd (well, photo finish at least 😜) Oh,and that penultimate climb is an absolute bastard.
    Cheers again Robbo.

I’m out for this & next Thursday unfortunately due work commitments. Was contemplating asking my boss if bringing the turbo to work was acceptable. Good for Tuesday night as it stands.

No shame in getting dropped. That was a tough circuit. Didn’t quite feel like I was at the races today. Normally in a TTT I don’t watch the Km’s to go, today was an exception. Last 5k was a tough ask.

There’s lots of reasons why I shouldn’t be riding on Thursday, but as it stands, I’m still in. I may disappoint.

That was a heroic effort by the front group. Hardly any gaps at all.
I know it’s not a big hill but it comes round far too often!
I had 4 laps with no power ups-is that normal? Then got lucky with an aero boost on the last km before the line. Thought I messed up the sprint but I was looking at the wrong avatar!
    Cheers Robbo! (Paino)

Robbo, bit last minute but any chance of adding me for tonight?
No worries if I’m too late.

It may be at the cost of the TTT on Thursday as I’ve been roped in for a 100miler on Friday morning.

Covered concrete canopy type thing like they do so well in the Alps. Probably the cheapest workable (although disruptive) option.
Otherwise do nothing and fix it every single time. This generally works well till a bus load of tourists gets killed.

    Love it.

In for Thursday evening. Companion app says Harrogate again?!

Didn’t think we’d catch that last team, but then Robbo got back on and ignited the afterburners! Had to push 400W just to catch him.

Think we got it bang on with the formation last night. At worst there was a 2 second split on the climb-and we did well to get the power off to reform. Absolutely no point in splitting the group up.

@zilog6128 thanks, I’m in. See you next week.

That last 5k was fun 😂. Couldn’t get on the Discord channel. Did I miss the invite or is there a STW channel I can dial into every week? Paino

I’m in for 1830 tomorrow. Can’t do any later times this week. What with the pen delay it gets in the way of drinking wine. Paino.

    Got a fan?
I tend to leave the fan on for 30 mins or so after a session. Gets rid of the stink pretty well.

It’s a total shambles. What a surprise. These idiots can’t do anything right. Total incompetents the lot of them.

    So what’s the answer genius?

Same thing (unsurprisingly) happened in Scotland a few weeks ago with the new school term. Testing centres were inundated with little Olivias & Jacks with runny noses and sniffles. Absolutely zero point in further testing stations as they’re all empty again now.

Sublime grammar error in thread bemoaning desecration of linguistic standards.

Hangs head in shame. I was too seething with rage to check my grammar.

Am I right in saying there’s no TTT? Would love to see one in the latter stages. JV seem to have all the fire power. Not sure Ineos could match them for team speed. For me it’s Roglic’s tour this year.

…and who is going to be tested positive for C19 today? And if so, what implications for other tour riders?

Firstly it’s Zwift…it’s £13/month although you can set it not to auto renew if you’re not using it. Personally I found Zwift the most motivational mostly for the social rides/races and good workouts. I’ve tried Rouvy, RGT and the Wattbike hub, but keep coming back to Zwift.

Given what you’ve said I’d get the lowest cost smart turbo capable of taking whatever mtb wheel size you have. That way, if you don’t use it then it’s no great loss.

Harrogate is my least favourite Zwift world. Probably the one where I get dropped the most…but I’m in for next week again pending any work issues.
I think overall we did really well last night, we were bunched nicely for the most part. Apart from losing Ivan we kept a tight unit, even after that horrible underground climb! Be interesting to see where we came overall.

Cheers guys, enjoyed that. First TTT, and first use of the discord so excuse my lack of muting!
Thought we held it together really well. Massive turns on the front by Phil. Chapeau.
One question though….Is there any way of warming up in the pen? Paino.

Great, pending a work call, I’m in! In on Zwift. ZP seems to be temporarily down so I’ll change the name later. See you guys later (Paino)

Thinking of giving this a go later if there’s room? Technically I’m on call for work so not a definite.
I’m a Cat B, so will I be out of my depth entering the A race?
Zwift name Paulo Paino (STW)-do I need to change the STW bit in Zwiftpower too?

My first memory of my Mum shouting at a stranger was in Torquay. We had parked, quite legally on a road in front of a B&b in the height of summer. The owner came storming out f’ing and blinding at us for parking there…“bloody tourists” she was shouting. The irony meter was obviously of the scale. To this day I remember my mum calmly telling her that her income and those of a good proportion of locals was based on “bloody tourists”.
That said I know it’s frustrating. I lived in Bournemouth for 2 years. Vowed never to set foot in the place (in summer).

    Yeah that’s what he said.

Apart from the bit where he failed to mention it’s actually DFS…and the loss making part of DFS at that. Not that would stop you from getting a deal, but the cynic in me says DFS will do what every other ‘high street’ store does and throw the crap in the fire sale. The irony of DFS actually having a “closing down sale” makes me laugh.

You know it’s still part of the DFS group until it actually changes hands. Everything must go lolz.

Well I thought that was the best episode yet. Such compelling viewing in terms of visually and the delightful banter between 2 best friends. First episode in which their relationship has seemed truly genuine.

Don’t get an old Porsche, you’ll regret it when the bills start piling up.

My car if choice for that budget is the Alfa Gulia Veloce
Lovely drivers car, carries the family & will outdo most of those older mlc cars.

Legal solution? FFS! Don’t be daft. People like you line the pockets of the law firms everywhere for absolutely no gain. Let it go man.

The river at Kinglas does drain comparatively quickly to lower lying rivers. Most water drains off the surrounding Munros straight into the rocky basin. That means in bad weather the path through to Loch Etive is pretty much a river too. A couple of dry days later it can return to reasonable conditions. If this weather pattern continues I’d take a wetsuit.

    My two penneth;
Your neighbours house looks terrible. An instant put off. Take some new pics front of house without showing their damp mouldy exterior.

Garden has been mentioned, but my eye is drawn to all that dark stained pine. Rafters fair enough, but all those dark wood desks, wardrobes & tables need removed before you take new photos. Dark wood really encloses spaces, especially where you haven’t got much natural light.

Overall those issues can be overlooked but my overriding feeling of your house is a lack of light. That dining room area looks awful. Wouldn’t want to spend any time there at all. It may well be cheating but get ‘Natural’ lighting akin to a film set before taking new shots.

Oh my God. Prestwick is mental busy with plane w*****s just now. Must be lockdown fever, this bloody 225 comes here every 3/4 months and never seen a crowd like this.

Phil…DRAM and WeeVans we’re out messing above Loch Lomond, but it wasn’t him over Strathaven-I’m sat next to Captain Ham 😎

It looks like a small rotation of the shifters/levers will help with the alignment of the hoses. Whether it’s suitable for your reach is another question!

I’ve preordered a See.sense bar bag. Just under 2 litres, perfect for snacks etc. ‘Half price’ at the minute but end of August for delivery.

Cajun seasoning, lots of. (which pretty much is a mix of all the above). Fry the chicken in garlic.

Surely the owners/tenants of your old place just redirect or return to sender? May be worth checking if they did…Utter ballbags if they didn’t. In that case I think you may* have a case as all correspondence from courts/dvla has a return address. Of course, if they binned it you’re screwed.

Horrible memories of that ride. What Lowey said…that path is shite. Couldn’t find the supposedly ‘great’ descent off Great Dun Fell either. Only good descent was that into Tynehead from the B6277.
Brampton is ace for the fighting at the weekend. That sportsman’s bar is the place for the scenes!

My favourite route in the area is just south of Brampton. Head out to Talkin past the Talkin Heads Farm. BW descent to Low Hynam then follow the well marked track over the moors south towards Newbiggin Fell. Climb up Cumrew Fell and look for descent heading west off the summit…Strava May be of help to find it, but it’s a belter. Head back on any number of tracks north to some ace village pubs.

Wattbike have the commercial AtomX-basically negates the need for punters to bring their own touchscreen devices. They’re based on the first generation Atom though-which has been faultless for me. Only issue with the Atom is the lack of saddle/bar manoeuvre (for and aft). The X may have a different system though.

I’m a total convert to decaf ground coffee. Cafe Direct, Macchu Picchu.
Aeropress it for a great brew. Dark chocolate overtones (apparently) yum.
