Great vid – i went there 3 times in the early mid90’s, a mate from Uni went out there to work as an engineer for a firm that supplies to GM! It was a crazy place with a rich underground scene and some proper no go areas!

A Moots variation – my frame built by Kent Erisken(ex Moots). Its changed slightly since the pic, no cateye, steerer cut down and longer stem.

Its a chorus group and deda finishing kit.

The welds and build quality is stunning and it rides really smooth.

Anyone got any tips on cleaning titanium?

Lived in Sydney for past 7 years. Live in freshwater. 20km commute into city every day and trails nearby, you can string a 100km MTB ride together on northern beaches if you know where you’re going. The best trails are a 1-2 hr drive out of Sydney, ourimbah and appin. Trail mecca is Canberra. Great lifestyle but long distance from family can be an issue

Layback post is the standard from Kent – he doesn’t do a straight version.

    Cages are Blackburn Chicane

Spacers will be gone at wkend and steerer tube will be cut once im happy with stem / bar set up – still experimenting at the mo, so left spacers to allow for flexibility

It weights 7.2kg. Could go a lot lighter if i had more $$$$$$!!

It goes like poo off a spade!

I have battled a huntsman w vacuum cleaner….they move sooo fast, especially when you are chasing at 6am, having woken up to find one in the bedroom!

Its the funnel webs and red backs that you have to watch out for though – they will give a damn nasty bite and trip to the hospital!

‘bait and swap’ – the art of selling a person in a tender and then offering up a complete numpty once you have secured the project

‘pressure test’ – as in that idea/concept will need to be pressure tested in a workshop environment

i’m not believing tarquin either 8), i live in Sydney and the weather is perfect for riding, not too hot, dry (surprising given how crap summer was) and not to cold

It will defo be campag and i’m looking at Chorus throughout but i would consider things like a centaur front mech and maybe upgrade to record rear mech. I think the full group is the way to go assuming retailer has the spec (compact crank etc) i want

Or are you using any sort of LED light? I’ve found they can interfere with wireless computers./quote]

Yes, the head unit is mounted quite close to a Lezyne LED front light – it may be this, any suggested fixes? There are not many other options for positioning either the light or the computer anywhere else to move them further away from each other.

The lips on those waves are so heavy it makes me scared just looking at them!

@thisisnotaspoon – i would recommend something between 7ft 6′-8ft. you don’t need a longboard (ie. over 9ft). you do need it to be 3” thick. The extra foam will give you buoyancy, making it easier to paddle and easier to catch waves. The main thing w surfing is wave count, you will never improve if you aren’t catching waves!

I moved there in 1991 and left in 2005 to move to sydney – it was awesome; rave culture back in the day was unbeliveable, massive attack and all the associated bands made it a really exciting place to be during the 90’s, skateboard, bmx, graffiti scene is lively, excellent night life, riding from home, quality natural trails in the Mendips, Q’tox, man made stuff with 1-2 hrs drive. Its got everything a big city has in a compact city…..move there!!

I live in manly. going North:
Stop 1 – Ourimbah Forest Park. Its marked (not like UK trails) but good enough. Its a good blast about 12km loop – do it 2/3 times for good ride.

Stop 2 – Awaba. flowy singletrack but short loop 10ishkm.

Stop 3 – Glenrock, Newcastle – you’ll need to hook up w a bike shop and get them to show you the trails, theres a heap of them and they are good fun

check out the NobMob website – it has trail info / directions etc and you may be able to hook up a ride through them as well.

Dont worry about going in to a shop and asking them to show you around trails sort you out a demo bike or something, the scene is very relaxed and people really accommodating.

    Happy trails
