I have a knog oi and a sort of copy, they both work pretty well. The Knog is a bit quiet, the copy isn’t as nice looking.
Do you have a link for that rotating bell? I’d like one, but I’ve only seen the Crane which would not fit on my bars.
easilyFree Member@feed is correct, dogs don’t like thrown stones.
I’ve had experience of this when I lived in Thailand, and had wild/feral dogs on my route home. They seem to know what you’re doing when you pick stones up, and they scarper fast when you chuck a few in their general direction.
easilyFree MemberWhat you need is a Petzl Zipka, but for some insane reason they have been discontinued.
If you can find one for sale somewhere go for it.
easilyFree MemberThe price of the Murano Dark linked earlier by rogermoore seems very good – £14.50 per Kilogram. I think I’ll gibe it a try, it would save me loads of money assuming it’s as tasty as the reviews suggest.
2easilyFree Member“Unlike the US and Canada, we don’t have a whole lot of gravel roads to ride on”
You know how mountain bikes aren’t just for mountains? And road bikes aren’t just for roads? And touring bikes aren’t just for touring?
Well guess what …
easilyFree MemberThanks didnthurt, that looks like a wonderful ride. I’m moving to Scotland soon (east coast, not Fort william), so I’ll be looking for stuff like that. I’d guess the hardest part is working out which week has neither midges nor rain :)
… and yeah, looking at that video I don’t think I’d fancy a lot of it on a gravel bike.
easilyFree Memberdidnthurt
Lovely photos
That looks great for a gravel bike – were there other bits that were less gravelly more MTBy?
easilyFree Member… there is even a refurbished pair on offer:

Refurbished gloves!
easilyFree MemberGrail gloves are available at bike inn:
https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en?products_search%5Bquery%5D=grail%20gloves
Usually a good price from there, though it can take a couple of weeks for things to arrive.
1easilyFree MemberAfter advice from people here I bought a spider rack a month or so ago. I then spent loads more than I’d intended on various bits and pieces to fit onto it.
I’m happy with the rack, it works as well as I’d hoped on my bumpy commute – I’m looking forward to trying on something a bit gnarlier.
The bags and trunk are ok, but I wish Aeroe had thought about them a bit more. As said above it would be good to have orange in the large size, but they could also easily have added reflective patches.
I’d also have liked a carrying handle on the trunk bag, straps to carry a jacket on the outside, a small external pocket, and mostly a place to clip lights as the bags cover my entire Seatpost.Small things, I know, but these are expensive bags. You’d think Aeroe could splash out a bit on a few little things to make them more useful.
easilyFree MemberI always thought that was a clever design @jaminb , but they seemed a bit flimsy to me. Are they well made? Do the tools work nicely?
easilyFree Memberhttps://planetx.co.uk/products/carnac-equipe-v2-cat-0-3-photochromic-sunglasses-stealth-black
I always rec these – I don’t know why they’re not more popular. As it’s Planet x you always wait for a sale of course. At the moment they are 60% off – which if I’ve calculated properly makes them £18.
1easilyFree Member“This is the Mitsubishi Dialtone D160, the largest subwoofer ever built, it can shatter glass and cause small earthquakes within a 2km radius”
I want that subwoofer. Imagine listening to LFO from that!
easilyFree Member*sigh*
Link didn’t work, try again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsKMfnwA-1E
1easilyFree MemberFrog bikes seem a bit pricey, but they’re well made and they last.
Do you have other kids, or nephews and nieces? The bike can be passed around as various kiddies grow into it and out of it. It won’t seem so pricey once a few of them have ridden it.
easilyFree Member:)
I just listened to the double violin concerto to see if you are right. It’s close, but I’m not convinced. I’m putting up the third, the fifth and the ninth – what are you offering to convince me Bach is better? For what it’s worth I reckon Bach wrote more good stuff, but nothing to beat Ludwig at his best.
easilyFree MemberI almost started a thread with this title last Friday after watching the proms.
My answer is: Beethoven. There is nothing better than Beethoven.
easilyFree MemberThe Third Man. Or maybe Psycho or North by Northwest.
I saw them all on tv as a child, I wouldn’t swear what order I saw them in.
easilyFree MemberBeautiful. Is that in the Cairngorms?
I’m currently in Milton Keynes, though moving to Scotland soon (yay). I’m snapping pics of all my favourite parts there are so many I want to remember. It’s not exactly the Lakes, but it’s got many pretty bits. My eight km commute has less than 500 meters of tarmac, the rest is woods, parks, fields, canal path, and a little bit of bridalway.
easilyFree MemberThere are people like this in all workspaces aren’t there? Those who try to foist off some of there workload onto others?
I work with adults with learning disabilities. My role is mostly in offering activities and opportunities rather than personal care or social care.
There are a few key workers who are always trying to shift some of the stuff they are supposed to be doing onto my department. Sometimes it’s ok as we have the capacity, sometimes it has a kind of logic (eg I have computer knowledge they lack, so it might make sense for me to help in that area), sometimes the service users themselves ask me as they know they’re more likely to get a result, but sometimes it’s just taking the piss.
We all know which key workers genuinely need a hand and which are lazy gits who are trying to get out of a bit of work. I am of course happy to help when there’s a good reason for it – and often when there isn’t, as it’s the only way something will get done. The lazy ones tend not to last long anyway as it’s a fun but draining job.
I feel for you OP. It seems like it’s becoming part of the system for you, which is hard to deal with.
Can I just add my thanks, GPs **** rock! My health centre has had a few problems recently with high turnover and lots of temps, but every GP I’ve seen has been great – nurses as well. I took flowers in last Christmas as I thought they all been so fab.
easilyFree MemberI don’t do something that mildly annoys me, therefore it should be banned.
Cycling, dog owning, men with long hair, crocs, indie type music, fried chicken takeaways, ‘Athleisure’, horse racing, Crystal Palace … I don’t do any of them, but occasionally I find than mildly irritating or inconvenient, get rid of all of them.
I don’t drink alcohol and my life would be improved if other people didn’t, should I campaign for a ban? All your favourite pub gardens could serve tea and cheese on toast instead – I’m sure they’d be fine.
1easilyFree MemberTeenager?
Or the team in charge of ensuring the STW site runs smoothly?
easilyFree MemberThis thread set me looking once again, but the closest I could find to my perfect tool was another SOG:
This has a blade and pliers, and even has the bit driver – only problem is it takes 4mm bits rather than more common 1/4 inch. So slose!
If anyone knows of a multitool that fits my description please let me know.
easilyFree MemberThat’s the thing about versatility, it gives you choices. You can take 50 bits with you, or 10, or none.
I have a small ratchet bit driver I carry with me at work, annd I also have the half dozen bits that I most often use. When I’m on a long cycle I take the same tool but different bits.
…. And as I said, the good thing about a bit driver is it costs nothing, weighs nothing, and takes little space. It makes no sense to not include it.
For my own use I’d like a tool that has grips, blade, bit driver and nothing else. That would take care of my needs 95% of the time. I’ve never found anything that quite fits.
easilyFree MemberNice one aphex 2, that’s all good info.
I think I’ll bite, there’s usually a way of turning locking blades into non-locking.
I notice there is a SOG Powerpint on Ali Express, I might go for that.
easilyFree MemberHello
I just noticed that on a particular thread I cannot reply. The thread is:and I get a ‘ You cannot reply to this topic’ message I cannot see any reason for this. I’m using an iPad.
easilyFree MemberSome nice looking tools there.
What attracted me to the Powerpint mentioned earlier is the bit driver. I don’t understand why every multi-tool doesn’t have one, as this instantly makes them more versatile at virtually no cost and no extra space or weight.
Any tool with a bit driver can be used with any screwdriver, any Allen key, any star fitting. That’s far more use than yet another bottle opener.
easilyFree MemberI came here to rec the Dime, but I have been smitten by SOG powerpint.
@aphex_2k
Is it legal for uk carry? On the website it doesn’t mention blade length or whether they lock. It’s a good looking tool either way, but I’ve already got enough tools I cannot carry around with me.1easilyFree Member“ Nrubow?”
I have been pondering this since you posted it. I have now got it.
My record for time taken to get a joke is over 30 years, but yours is not a bad effort. Thanks.
easilyFree MemberMost kids are ok, I tend to get on well with 4-5 year olds as we have a similar sense of humour. Year 8 kids should be put in a pit for a tear (or sent on walkabout), but other than that they’re good.
Just do whatever they want all the time and you should be golden.
easilyFree MemberI was recced Keen here on STW. I bought some, loved them, bought some more.
The most comfy I’ve found I got for work, but I use them for walking as well as they are so good, also for cycling if I’m not doing anything too serious. They’re quite grippy, I use them to climb ladders at work.
easilyFree Member“So nothing, other than piece mix up.”
Yeah, d4 is a solid opening.
2easilyFree Member“what am I missing?”
The board should have a white square at bottom right, not black – the board needs to be turned 90º. That also means the king and queen on each side will have to swap positions. The knights and bishops on the white side are in each others places (unless they’re playing some sort of Fischer game).
…also, all those fooking mice need to be scrubbed off the board.
1easilyFree MemberMaybe not such high quality news, but if you don’t look at the Mail you might miss this. I saw the story on Twitter, by the way.
easilyFree MemberOk, here’s an example where I think the Mail has done a reasonable job. Can someone tell me what is wrong with the reporting here?
1easilyFree MemberThe Mail is often a good source for news stories. The editorial and other opinion bits are awful.
Twitter I never have any issue with. I never post, and just use it to get info – it shows me what I look for. Am I doing something wrong?
I used to read The Guardian religiously, but now I regard it as less trustworthy than the Mail.
easilyFree MemberTenchu
It takes a while to get in the correct mindset, but once you do …

easilyFree MemberBack when I was doing this sort of work one of my colleagues used to do a bucket before work started. I never quite understood how he was capable of working all morning, but he seemed to manage.
He’d disappear for a while at lunch break – presumably to replenish in one way or another.
