I Burped like this when I was in the alps but managed to deform the tyre to such an extent it now has a definite wobble when fully re inflated. Like the wheel is out of alignment even though it’s not. Guess the tyre is goosed (maxxis ardent)

dont get a Q5 from MIL experience they are massive on the outside, and tiny inside ( especially lack of leg room in the back seats), bit like the opposite of a tardis. We have a skoda superb estate and its got bags of space and also a Mercedes Ml which is cavernous. Main criteria for us though was to get a bike in the back ( seats down) and without taking wheels off.

Same as the op but with a Chris King hub I’ve been riding for 13 years, find it highly cathartic stripping it down for a clean and regrease job and then the satisfaction of that smooth feel and buzzy sound on a quick spin round the block.

A cannondale caadx tiagra is good fun and comes in under £1k. Wheels are a bit heavy and benefit from an upgrade

I suffer from anxiety regularly, cant seem to button down the cause, but I refuse to go in for medication. I manage it by riding my bike, and if I get 20km in first thing, the feel good feeling lasts all day.

I’ve bought shed loads of cycle stuff from Evans over the years clothes tyres pedals energy bars oakleys etc including two new bikes but I always buy online. And always buy sale stuff. It surprised me how they managed to have so many stores everywhere!

Tiagra is fine, got it on my CAADX, and tbh doesn’t feel much different to the 105 on my CAAD8. If anything the brake shifters feel more substantial on the Tiagra

What a great day out, came in midway in the pack on the full marathon, first half of jacobs was hike a bike for me but managed to ride much of the second after the bend. I thought I was a fast descender till I got blitzed by a very fast lady on a super tasty Yeti SB6. now I need to buy a SB6!

I looked at getting some wheels built for my cx but ended up buying a set of roval slx 24 disc, for a good price, theyre **** light @1600g, superstiff and spin fast, and have taken quite a beating so far without needing truing

Whilst you explore other options to keep riding, depending on the quality of the bits youre selling retrobike.co.uk might be a place to go to sell old 26″ bike shizzle

From what I’ve heard about their eco boost engines frequently going bang I’d avoid anything with a ford badge on if I were you.

If you go steady youll be ok, just rely on skills rather than suspension!  take big rubber EXO protection or dual ply tyres, dont use metallic brake pads as theyre noisy as hell  take resin or organic pads ( and spares ) is my only other advice

the trails I did in verbier would be brutal on a hardtail, I took a santa cruz blur first time and a yeti asr5 last time which were ideal. I do like going fast tho!

Think Im going to go for it. I saw the new models for 2019 but they’ve lost the sexy curves and gone all straight lines, copying santa cruz I guess and also what happened to Marin. How GDFU is this:

I’m thinking of jacking my current job in ( no projects coming through, yet loads of opportunities elsewhere) and also on 3 month notice, I am going to ask them if they’ll let me go early if I hand my notice in as a lot of the jobs I’m looking at want immediate start.

If they wont reduce the notice period you could:

do the ‘Roll in at 10 leave at 3 and take just 2 hours for lunch’ trick and ride your bike for free extra hours!

    Plan some holidays

Price up your mtb dream build.

Sell your unwanted crap on Ebay

Do some online courses, read some textbooks / papers related to your industry

Thing is I can get the current turq series frame for £2.2k (discounted due to the new bike release I guess) which is pretty much what the ASR5 cost back in 2011. How did it compare size wise, Im large asr5 and guess a large SB5 would fit ok?

Looking on Autotrader £11k gets you some pretty tidy 2-3 year old late model low mileage Yetis, Id consider buying used next time unless you really like the new car smell.. would certainly give you more flexibility should circumstances change

Lego to me ( years ago!) was that yes you could build what was on the box but you could ALSO build all sorts of other stuff with it when combined with bits of other lego you had lying around form other kits etc.

I dont get this new fangled super specific stuff.

how often will you use the motor home? If its only 2-3 times a year have you thought about renting one?

What is it with these downtube/seat tube junctions? wonky donkey springs to mind. Does it offer any benefit, or just a case of we don’t have to put a front mech in there so the design guys can go crazy?

I like this idea, having built up a collection of all kinds of styles of bikes I am now yearning to go minimalist and for the one bike that does all. Sadly I dont think it’ll happen as I now do a lot of road riding as well as mtb , tried to go the CX gravel bike route for everything but I really missed the suspension from my fs on those bumpy days out!

Im a big ebay fan, and often leave bidding to the last 10 seconds. This proved quite successful for a recent furniture purchase where I won one of the two items the seller was selling. Turned up to collect my furniture to be told the other bidder had backed out of the deal on the 2nd piece so a quick cash offer ( incidentally less than my max bid) and the 2nd piece was mine. I do however do my research and set myself a maximum bid….

I also occasionally ask the sellers to end early for a cash offer, bit cheeky though but managed to get some proper bargains over the years!
