My springer was a complete nightmare for the first 2 years. Started taking him out with me on the bike and he’d run for 10 miles no issue. We also joined a local shoot as beaters and he’d work for a good 6 hours on a Saturday and then tennis ball retrieval and then training dummy’s to get his interest. Excercise is the key. Once we upped it to extremes he finally started claiming down. He’s 13 now and the best dog you could ask for. Still fit as a fiddle and occasionally naughty but that’s springers. Stick with it.

Sounds like the same gang that did me in Breaston 2 years ago. Removed a whole window in the garage and took 5 bikes in total out the back garden and got away on the old canal towpath. Police thought they knew who it was but without proof they couldnt get a search warrant.

I was tempted to buy a milgauss for my 40th but ended up with a near mint 1992 submariner 14060 as the milguass was a bit too big for my skinny wrist. and its a joy to behold. and in the two years I have had it its increased in value by £1200! If you’ve go the cash go for it, if you want to polish out the shiny links on the strap get a jeweler to do it, and if you need a service from Rolex send it to them on a leather nato strap! None of their business what you do with the original bracelet…

I also find buying less stuff reduces the number of lorries on the roads, rumour has it they can make a bit of a racket too!

I got made redundant once, after 3 months of worry, saw it as a blessing though as the job was changing beyond all recognition ( for those that stayed ) and forced me to start work for myself, so within 2 weeks of getting the chop i was back up and running and managed to do this for 18 months, this was in 2011. Biggest worry was how would i afford to live, I now squirrel away around 6 months of living expenses so if it every happens again id be alright for a bit.

I once had to shoe the local hunt’s foxhounds out of my garden as they were frightening my guinea fowl and trampling on my asparagus patch!

You dont give up anything! Life is all about a little bit of what you fancy. For the record I turned 40 last year and have continued:
    1. riding my bikes, I try to get out every day if poss, did my first 100 mile sportives and the ard rock enduro, like to keep pushing myself
    2. Drinking Beer… though I cant drink much before Im pished 4-5 nice ales is enough for a weekend night out
    3. eating good food… lifes too short to eat junk, ( I’d bin off the McD’s!)

its a crazy state of affairs where as a race we’ve actually created a world that involves trying to co habit with millions of fast moving lumps of metal whizzing round us all the time often by people without proper control, attention or training , causing huge tolls of death, serious and debilitating injury, damage, noise and pollution. The woman is lucky to be alive and the driver has not been punished at all. 1 million people a year are killed worldwide by road traffic accidents and yet the carnage continues…. I love cycling on the roads but it does always stick in the back of your mind that it could happen to me one day when I read news stories like this.

    Similar position.
Good career well paid, travelled lots, tons of responsibility, yet lately just feel empty, highly stressed and lost the love for the job. Realised I was putting too much emphasis on climbing the career ladder, chasing the money, big house fancy car etc. none of which made me happy. Now on the long road of changing jobs to something I like ( who knows what!?!) and travelling less, making time for family friends and fun experiences.. long way to go yet but I’ve at least recognized the issues and have started the process of change. I too have had a year of relatively heavy drinking.. its a slippery but all too common slope.

had a blast on the 30km sprint, stood in lastminute.com for a mates missus who bailed. the stages way were may more techy than I imagined and had a fair a few 5p-10p moments but got down everything without incident on my old skool yeti 26r…. echo the sentiments about santa cruz, bronsons and nomads…theyre the omnipresent ride of choice it seems.. loved the pub stop between stage 2-3, so much so we managed two visits for a recovery cider. lots of folk wondering round with slings and leg bandages on too

Ive played some of the new 2015 gibsons and to be honest the quality is not there.

Had the same quandry this time last year, and decided to go for a gibson custom shop les paul goldtop. Took a lot of hunting but found one on ebay that some old guy had got from new and not touched it for 7 years. New price for these is £3k plus. I offere 1899 cash and got the deal. I knew what to look for and am amazed at the quality, playability and sound. Itll likely increase in value and is a beautiful thing to look at.

Been offered a spare ticket on this too….. Are they really pushing for photo i.d.? Why so strict?? When ive stood in for sleepless/mayhem riders a squiggle next to ‘your name’ was all that was required………

had a mk 1 superlight for years, then a mk 1 bullit, then a blur lt and now one of the last ever bullit. The swoopy top tube is what did it for me.
Never could afford one new, all mine were 2nd hand ebay bargains……….
Nice to see the new range though, I’ll be having a 2nd hand CC Nomad in 2019 when they’ve depreciated into my price bracket!

I was the 2nd owner bought with 70k and a fsh. It was a very nice car and the interior was real quality. Now got a Skoda superb estate.

Had this exact same 2002 1.9tdi A4 car for 7 years ran it to 150k miles at which point it developed an electrical fault with the central locking, phantom drain on battery, and a mystery leak meant it was time to offload. Got 1k for it though to a couple of polish guys which have a sideline in restoring and selling on old Audis! only routine servicing, one new clutch and a wiper motor needed doing in the time I had it. Rust was starting of front wheel arches which is a common problem.

Oakleighwatches.co.uk have some nice pieces, bought a rolex last year and couldnt fault the service
