Bought a MaXx D around three weeks ago and very impreseed with it. My only complaint is that the gap from full power to medium power is too much, I’d like the medium setting to be a higher output even if it meant less running time. The reported 1200 lumens is very bright though.

Just sold a joystick which was excellent and awaiting a diablo which I’ll use on its own for local rides.

Mine still hasnt arrived from evanscycles – ordered on Monday and said it was in stock at the time. I sent them an email yesterday to ask where it is (theyve taken the money) but not replied yet.

Evanscycles. When I ordered on Monday it said it was in stock, confirmed this on the email I received at time of purchase. So I’m expecting it tomorrow/Monday. I’ve just checked now and the website now says at store.

Mine was ordered on Monday, at the time it said in stock, and free delivery is 3 – 5 working days so it should be with me tomorrow/Monday at the latest (I hope!!).

Yes I’ve ordered one from Evans, it said in stock on their website so I’m assuming it should be with me any day now.

Btw mine was the mk3 version, if you have the newer mk4 it could be different on them.

WHen I had mine and if I remember correctly, you could pull up the seat without touching the lever, however the seat wouldn't stay in that raised position, it would fall back to where it was before. The only way to get it back up and to stay there was to use the lever. (If that makes sense?)

Does anyone know what the prices are going to be?

I've got a scale 20 and think its a brilliant bike, they are very light but also stable through the rough stuff. They are fine at trail centres.

Why are you working 1hr each day unpaid? Surly fairness works both ways?

I've just put these back on my hardtail and for the hardpack/minor roads that I tend to ride a lot, there are none better in my opinion.

Oh these really look nice, I'm tempted myself. Would have liked more colour options though.

I've got rons on my hardtail and they have been fine (no rips nor punctures) around trails in north wales which are rocky and slatey. I've also used ralphs and they are also fine with no problems.

Theres one in CYB – alu, don't know the size.

I'd base myself arounf GT/Inners, plenty of trails there for a good weekend.

I've got the Blur LT2 and really like it, ideal for North Wales where I live. The Tracer also gets very good reports. Don't think you'll go wrong with either.

Base yorself further north (Betws y Coed?)and do Penmachno, Marin, Cowlyd loop and even Snowdon. Go further South for Nant yr Arian and climachx.

ClimachX, Marin and Penmachno are not that far away from CYB if you still wanted to go there as well.

I live locally and would recommend either the Marin or Penmachno. Don't be put off by what you read, I think it has a superb final descent and some nice techy sections. You can hire a bike from Betws y Coed.

If it feels spongy then its most probably air in your system, with the hose/lever fully tightened, try rebleeding your brakes. I did mine at the weekend before going for a ride but lost all power in the rear brake. I'm sure it is to do with oil leaking out (and air getting in) from the lever/hose connection as it wasn't fully tightened – which I just found out tonight.

I found oil leaking down the brake hose on mine so I have just tightened the hose/lever screw and see if that works.

The viewranger software works superbly on the Nokia 5800 – which is what I have got for hiking. For cycling though you need a gps system that you can attach to your bars.

This is mine, weights just over 28lbs (thats including a joplin) and use a fox talas 140 on mine.

I'd go for maxxis crossmarks or racing ralphs (ralph are more expensive).

The trail could still be there if you can remember where, it isn't signposted as it was on the 'old' side of the A470. There is a new route called Cyflym Coch at CYB which is quite smooth for a quick blast if you want, think it's 10km.

‘dyls, with reflectors and pedal platforms, please tell me that was taken when you picked the bike up from the shop!’

haha, if I’m honest it took me quite a while to figure out how to remove the platforms.

Nope, unless you like flat country lanes/cycle lanes. CYB is around 45 mins away.

CYB is more technical than the Marin & Penmachno. It’s also about 1hr:15min away from Llandudno.

Fitness wise Penmachno Loop 1 is roughly equivalent to the Marin (calories burned). Penmachno loop 2 is quite flat and pedally. Also for some reason Penmachno seems to hold water on the track longer than the Marin – so if it’s been raining recently you’ll get a proper soaking at Penmachno whereas the Marin drains better. (But getting wet and muddy is part of biking!)

I’d go for the Marin, ok the climbs are mostly forestry roads but there are plenty of single tracks with a very good last descent to the car park.

If they have some experience have a stab at Penmachno Loop 1, probably a little bit more technical then the Marin but nonetheless a great blast.

I’ve got the satmap and it’s very easy to follow with OS background maps. I previously had a Garmin with Topo maps but found the quality of the maps on that very difficult to follow.

    Satmap is more expensive though.

Yes a cracking event with friendly people as well.

I had my fair share of mechanicals/punctures today but still enjoyed it, especially the descents.

Not sure what happened to the person but on of the Marshalls was telling us to take care on the descents as somebody had been hurt on one of them and the air ambulance/helicopter was on its way.

Whats it like course wise, do I take a full suss or hardtail?

What type of riding do you like?

CYB is technically the hardest although the Marin and Penmachno are also a good blast.

Llandegla is quite smooth compared to the above although a good workout.

I very much doubt it’s possible with all the steps on the Llanberis path now.

CYB, Marin & Penmachno all 15min car ride away.
