I always ask for a deal when spending thousands on a new bike, as i do when spending thousands on a new car. Never ask for any other discounts, ie accessories and so on.

Depends what the girls like. Llandudno area might be a better base, beach, cinema, shops and not that far from Snowdon. Otherwise Betws y Coed/Llanberis area is a good base for walking and hiking.

Would it be possible to make a complete unit, like an exposure joystick ( and the same size as a joystick)
with just one of those led that last three hours on a 1000 lumen setting. That would be brilliant.

I’ve got a 900 lumen toro2, its more than enough for night riding. I prefer a balance between size of unit/light than all out power.

None of those will be rideable at the moment. There is supposed to be a thaw starting sunday according to the bbc, although there is a lot of snow to go.

I work as a Project Manager building new roads (civil engineering). Just finished a £15 million road scheme and currently working on an £8million scheme.

Qualifications wise have a degree, chartered and have a project management qualifications (APM). Also have Prince2 but we don’t use this in engineering. Also things like being able to use programme software (MS Project say) would be important.

If you haven’t any experience, start at the bottom, go on courses and work yourself up.

    No.

If they wanted to reduce from 5 days/week to 4days/week for a 20% cut then I might consider it for a short term. Assuming the £6m defecit is nothing to do with you.

thanks for the feedback guys, I think it was the hatchbag I saw on ebay – surprised a bit on their cost though.

I’d go for a dirtworker as well. I did have another one before, can’t rmember its make, but the connections were very poor and would come off in use. Also don’t take too much notice of the rated pressures, something similar to paper ‘lumens’ and ‘actual’ lumens. In life the two washers I’ve had were very similar in power, although there should have been a difference between them if I looked at the quoted paper pressures.

I sold a maxxd on ebay a few weeks ago and the winning bidder had 0 feedback but paid up properly and was good to deal with.

Assuming it is the bleeding that needs to be done? I also bought a bike online earlier this year (not wiggle) and had a problem with one of the brakes which required a new olive and insert and a re bleed. For a while I thought it was a problem with the seals on the lever. It was too much hassle to send it back so I did it myself but I wasn’t too happy neither.

Quick, if you buy off Wiggle today, its only £160 if you use the xmas-20 voucher. 😀 It’s a very good light for that amount and you can always purchase an additional handlebar light in the future if you wanted to.

I’d say they are very similar on light output on the max setting, well I cant tell the difference anyway! The diablo is a lot more compact though, although it wont last as long as the hope. Remember the diablo is only rated as 3 hrs on the medium setting, I haven’t really tested how long the battery lasts am my night rides up to now have been shorter than this.

I have a diablo and think its very good. Havent the experience of the Lupine though. There is a deal on WIggle atm with 20% off, so you could get a diablo and a piggyback battery for under £200.

It is the wireless idea that attracted me to exposure, I sold a hope 4 a few months back and bought a toro and a diablo. Impressed with both.

I also get the same, always slowish in the beginning, tend to take quite some time to warm up, feel tired. Then I’m always strong on the 2nd half of the ride, like I get a second wind!!

Anyone run the 2011 NN tubeless ready (non ust) as tubeless? How do you find them to set up and seal?

Some good online deals on these at the moment on WIggle & CRC. Got to say I’m really impressed with the diablo, good for a 1.5/2hr local spin (switching between high/medium) and even longer with a single cell battery add on.

Good choice, accurate reflection of stock (ie doesn’t say in stock when it isn’t), competitive pricing, quick delivery (next day or the day after at the latest)and no hassle returns/customer service.

I’ve got the new mk2 diablo and the medium setting on the diablo is similar to the high setting on the joystick. 300 lumens is enough for road riding, however with a diablo you do have that extra power if you need it, which you will if doing anything quite technical off road. The high setting on the diablo is similar to the high setting on a Hope 4, its very bright. For a few more £££ I’d get the diablo.

There is another exposure light for the road, cant remember its name but it only has a main beam and dip setting, think its 600 lumen max and 300 lumen dip. Maybe this would be better for you?

I’ve got an aluminium LT2 and think its a superb bike, usually I get bored of bikes quickly but I haven’t even looked at another bike to replace the blur. I’ve never ridden a 5 but know a few people who have them and rate them.

If you ride trail centre/hardpack stuff mostly I wouldn’t bother changing, maybe a mud tyre if you prefer more natural trails?

    dyls

It must be an issue with the non tubeless tyres as my ardents ust’s went straight up with a trackpump on my flow rims. You only remove the valve core to put in some sealant. IF the rubber bit is stuck, try an prise it out with a thin screwdriver and install a new olympic valve.

I’ve got one, they are very good, bright without being big. They are only 60 lumens less than last years hope4/Maxx D and much more compact on the bars.

How about a brand new mk2 toro for £250, nearly as bright as the 2010 maxx d, smaller and tidier on the bars and with a full 2 year guarantee. Save up some more for a joystick for your helmet later?

Yes, this years models have the usb charger, but they still work with the older style charger as well.

The 2011 Nobby Nics come in 3 diferent grip compounds, pacestar, trailstar and the other which I can’t remember. However I can’t seem to find any online.

I’ve used the 2009 versions of NN and have found them to be a good comprimise betwen speed and grip. I’ll be interested to see the new versions.

I use normal crossmarks on my HT and whilst they roll very quickly, the NN would be better for general trail riding imo.

I do quite a bit of solo nightriding, but I tend to do the non technical routes starting from my house, and let someone know where I’m going. I only do the techy routes when in a group.

Do the Beast on one day (this includes the best bits of the mbr and dragons back – you can cut out the top forestroad loop if you want) on one day, then head up towards Betws y Coed to do either Penmachno or the Marin on the other day.

Alternatively head south from CyB for 20mins (by car) and do the ClimachX in the morning and do the Tarw at CyB in the afternoon.

Suggest trying an Ardent. Been running one of those a lot this year. Really like

Do you know how does the 2.25 ardent compare size wise to the advantage? I feel the 2.25 advatage is a bit too big.

    dyls

The grip on the advantage is superb, especially in the 60/62 compound. As others say the 2.25 is big though, you might be better going for a 2.1.

Had my maxx d and diablo for a while now. The diablo is very bright at its maximum setting (claimed 900 lumen). I use this by itself for local rides from my house (with a backup battery) and just take along the maxx d when I go proper offroading. ALso the maxx d is smaller in size than I thought it would be.

If you average 15km/h (thats going very well) you’ll do it in just over 3 hrs. I’d say anything between 3 – 5 hrs unless you’re a racing snake. There is a good cafe around 1/2 way around if you want a breather and something to replenish your energy.

Some sections are nice and flowy, some are steep and quite technical.

I’m there quite a lot on weekends and did the dragons back, benefit of living locally :-). Its always mostly packed there on the weekends if the weather is dry/sunny.
