My plumber fitted the boiler and did the pipework into the boiler, fitted magnaclean and flush in a day. The pipe from the meter into the boiler depends how close they are, or do they need to go through quite a bit of walling. The external hole for the flue was already in by me, just because it is an old stone house (thick solid walls). The magnaclean isnt that expensive, around £150 i think.

My builder did a lot of the work for hiding the pipe from the meter to the boiler eg hole in floor or walls and then covering up, this can take time.

Do you have a plumber who isnt VAT registered, that’ll save you 20%?

Thanks for the feedback, I’m a qualified civil engineer so OK on that front. I would initially set up from home.

Any advice on what help, advice, grants are available? Or will it have to be a loan?

I would be working as a civil engineering consultant, so clients could be anything from a private housebuilder wanting advice or design of a small road/drainage system etc, to developers undertaking estate designs, contractors who undertake design and builds and mayby public sector clients. Could undertake project management, design, drawings, prepare and run contracts etc.

Set up costs wouldn’t bee too much, office, pi insurance and quite a bit of marketing initially.

It’s who you talked to, what advice did you get, what grants did you get, any advice from you….. I’m mostly after more than the civil engineering aspect.

Supply/fit liner and stove, inc hetas certificate will be around £1200 – £1500 for the 904/904 grade liner. This would include the plate above the stove etc.

Ive just bought a cx bike and was looking at these mudguards as well. The cx tyres are 35mm so im going with the 28-35mm mudguard version, i can then use a wide road tyre if i wanted as well.

I have one and think its ok. Used it wild camping a few times. I prefer the traveltap though, easier to fill the travel tap with water.

I would say yes. I gained a couple of minutes over a 20k route by having a lighter carbon bike.

Are you in a position to exchange quickly? Usually has to be done and dusted in 1 month. If you are a cash buyer better still.

offer less than the asking, think I offered -15% on mine and had to go up a little. That looks to be in a much better condition than the one i bought.

Factor in what needs to be done to give you a rough idea of the final outlay, allow contingency for unforseen things as well, im sure there are things that will cone up.

Do you get the car as well ??

I bought a repossessed house that was totally run down.I was lucky to be in a cash buyer position so it went through very quickly and stress free. i got the house for a good price and didn’t bother with a survey as I knew I would have to rewire, replumb and I also took it back to the stone wall and totally replastered.

If you are not in a position to buy then I dont think they will entertain any bids as all they want is a very quick sale. They asked me for proof of monies when I put in a bid and put a 14 day limit for purchasing, I think it took about 16 days in the end as we had to wait for the local council searches which took a while.

i do get the occasional letter addressed to the previous occupants but have had no other hassle.

Ive got a 2013 xtc advanced 1 29er, very impressed with it (would say that though!), light at 21.5lb including pedals. For xc duties, some road etc its spot on, something like the marin trail its excellent as it isnt too rough, but CYB is a bit too much imo and for that type of riding id get a full suss.

It maintains speed very well when you get going.

If you wait a month or so youll probably get the anthem advanced 1 carbon for less than the canyon in the sales. Thats full xt and fox fork.

The canyon is very good spec though.

Good event that, especially the number of spectators on the maes at the end and good weather. Ive done a few mountainbike events but haven’t seen nothing like that before – so well done to the organisers and those that cheered us all on.

Signed up for the canol but had a bit of knee pain following a mid week ride so did the bach and pleased with how it went.

Think i paid parcelforce large around £50, insured for £800 a few months back. Once you start adding insurance to others like parsley etc they bump up the price quite a bit, probably similar to parcelforce.

So depends really on the value of your bike and whether you will chance it without additional insurance protection.

I paid £1150 for the installation in January this year, included all materials plus a days labour for two to install. It included installing a stove as well as the hetas certification. I had quite a long chimney, think it was 11m and they installed the 906 multifuel liner.

Dont think they have had sleeping bags in stock for well over a year. Luckily i got hold of a pipedream 400 but had to go elsewhere for a winter bag.

Depends in what they told you when you phoned them and whether you want to work for them again. It may be just someone late in signing off your invoice.

If its somewhere to crash for the night a one man tent is fine, but for 1/2 weeks I’d go for something slightly bigger with more room. Maybe a terra nova voyager at 2kg?

From what I see at the moment schemes are getting fewer and fewer as we depend on government investment which is being cut all the time. This means there is a lot of pressure to cut costs but staff still to pay.

If you can find something not so dependant on government funding things may be slightly different.

I remember buying a blur lt back in 2009 when.all the hype then was about long travel all mountain ( whatever all mountain means) bikes. Every few years there is a different hype to get us to spend our cash, which is expected really. I’ve still got the blur as well, good bike.

I had 18 months off as all my spare time went into renovating a run down property. I did cycle maybe half a dozen times during that period. Starting back now.

Surely your manager is aware of your extra workload / has noticed you working long hours – but still runs to HR!! Either a poor manager, or a clever one using you to do someone elses job as well as your own so saving on employing and paying someone additional.

To me covering for someone means if someone is off sick short term, attending meetings if your boss can’t etc, but not doing someone elses job while they are off on maternity in addition to your own. Refuse to do it.

Dont go unless you legally have to. I assume you must have documented the incident, as someone previously stated refer them to that.

    Started around 1997,

    Schwin “something” hardtail
    Marin rift zone
    Spesh rockhopper
    Spesh epic
    Spesh stumpjumper
    Spesh allez roadbike
    Santa cruz blur
    Giant anthem
    Scott scale
    Giant tcr roadbike
    Giant defy winterbike

So 11 in 16 years. Probably only cycled properly in around 10 of those 16 years.

There is a path called the mawddach trail, which is an old railway so its flat, that goes from Barmouth towards dolgellau and just before dolgellau you can branch off it and take the cycle route 82, which is a minor road, into CyB.

I’ve been refurbing a house for over a year and only now an I seeing it come to an end. It has taken up most of my weekends and time during the week, to the detriment of other things. Mine had a lot of work though, probably £60k all in. I probably wont do one again for a while.

If you fancy renovating use the lower offer on your house to offer lower on the house that needs refurbing.

There are so many variables in getting a job I would tend to go with your own feel of how the interview went. You”ll have a good idea. As for getting the job maybe the boss’ son was trying, you just never know.

Not worth stressing over in my opinion. So many things can determine if you get the job, ive seen unqualified immediate family members get the job!

I decided against something similar recently, slightly more money but longer commute (+40mins a day) and more responsibility wasn’t worth it for me.
