Ive just finished renovating a house in the uk, it is a lot of work trying to get trades people in, even when you speak the language.

You can link garmin connect to strava, so garmin will automatically upload to strava – no need to export as gpx etc

I had the old scale 20 (26er), great bike and Id have another.

Sold that and bought a giant advanced xtc 29, my most used bike at the moment. Also a great bike.

Dont sell the bike to her. If something does go wrong………..

Just tell her that you can see from her response that it isnt what she wants and just say that you have someone else who wants it (even if there isnt), sell the bike to someone else, and move on.

    Youll not win this one.

Ive ridden mine around CYB countless times and have never had a puncture. I have had a puncture on a forest road though… Guess it comes down to luck!

Did you set up the sale so only UK bidders could bid? If so just send it to the UK paypal address, unless they are willing to pay the extra for the postage to switzerland?

Im also weary of advertised jobs with no salary, hence dont apply for them that often. I prefer to know the range before i apply / waste everyones time, including myself.

As somone who has had quite a few of the gps’s, satmap, older garmins, memorymap etc…… Sell the garmin 500 and buy the garmin 810. It is slightly bigger than the 500 but it will act as a do it all gps, perfectly fine for remote rides. Youll need to but the OS maps as well.

For hiking i use the viewranger app with OS maps on my phone. Take a portable £20 phone battery charger with you for multiday/overnight camps.

Went round there earlier this week, surprisingly dry but a bit overgrown.

Forecast is some rain so expect it to be back to its normal wetness.

Ive just bought a secondhand anthem 29, really like it.

For £5/6k id go for something more boutique/custom build, a carbon tallboy or czar or similar.

I think it has to be a little give and take.

Is your flue discharging straight into the neighbours garden? If I was them I wouldnt like that tbh.

That sounds like a way over the top reaction by these cyclists – not everyone is the same.

If it was turning violent, spitting etc I’d report them to the police.

My new hope 2’s are also quite quiet, prefer it that way tbh.

I paid about £2900 ish for a Morso 10kw stove, fitted including liner and paperwork. The stove itself was around £1750 if i remember right.
    No building work was required.

Mines done 103000 and averages 32mpg. Back seats fold flat and i can get a bike in without removing the wheels.

You can usually link the freesat remote to control your tv.

The only thing you want that to do is turn on/off the tv, same as you can do with sky remote.

Remember you have antur stiniog which is 20mins away from betws y coed as well if you want something different.

Penmachno is wet so id do marin first, then lunch, then penmachno.

I think you’ll be pushed nowadays to do those trails on a 26er.

    Depends what you enjoy.

    Cyb is rocky, quite technical.

Marin is more old school, more flowy.

Penmachno is inbetween the two, and usually wet.

I live local and enjoy all of them.

Penmachno and marin is possible in a day, id drive between the two eather than ride. Youll need a fair level of fitness as both trails come to around 54km with around 1500m of ascent.

Do you have a vertical stack/pipe on the outside of your house where all the waste pipes go into?

Disconnect the bathroom waste from this stack and see if any water comes out, if not try and put the bath water on.

I wouldnt expect the bathroom waste pipe to be that long tbh.

    dyls

    Is it just the bath?

Only reason I ask was that I had a blockage in the back garden and eventually all the waste pipes backfilled so they were either draining very slowly or not at all.

I have a lot of riding on my doorstep, but generally also ride 30/45min on the road to get to trails. I do it on a ht though, wouldnt fancy it on the heavier, more burly tyred fs.

Just seen your post, cycling along the a5 from llyn ogwen to betws y coed is fine. Mostly downhill from capel curig.

I would myself go to betws y coed and over the crimea pass, although it is quite steep if you have a lot of gear.

Even if you go from capel curig to beddgelert to porthmadog and then cyb you will encounter climbs from maentwrog up to trawsfynydd and it is a longer route.

If its by roadbike, all the roads are fine, plenty of people cycle along them. Come down the b5106 from llandudno way, a bit quiter than the a470. From betws y coed take the a470 over the crimea pass and follow the a470 to cyb.

Ive spent about £60k renovating a bigish 3 bed house, from bare stonework. Includes new bathroom, kitchen, plumbing, wiring, floors, plastering, 3x staircases, part double glazing 2x windows and 2x doors) & decorating.

Things like carpets etc are surprisingly costly.

    dyls

We need more info whats required!

Oil tank, oil powered boiler, pipework plus rads for a three bedroom house is around £6k

You can buy ready built staircases for around £750, allow £250 to fit unless its awkward.

What about plastering, painting, insulating, etc?

Plywood for flooring is cheap, you could do that yourself.

Allow £2.5k for a bathroom, £750 for a plumber to fit – £300 for tiles and £300 for a tiler

Kitchen say £5k (depends on what you want, but £5 k will get you the appliances as well, allow £1k to fit. Is the electrics in for the kitchen stove etc?

I had a voyager, you are pushing for 2 people plus some space in that. Id think of it as a spacious 1 person tent.

Id go for the tn ultra quasar, or normal quasar.

Depends how much money you want to spend but the hillebergs are also good, some good deals to be had on ebay sometimes. Although quite long, the nallo 2gt is a good 4 season tent and quite light at 2.8kg.

I burn smokeless fuel and wood in my multi fuel stove. It is quite a big stove at 10kw (morso 08) and a bag of 25kg of smokeless coal will last me saturday and sunday for around 15 hrs use per day, the bag is £9. I prefer coal on weekends when Im out and about as I can leave it for longer, I tend to use wood on school nights.

I’d just keep it unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket – im the same with a top spec 26″ blur lt. An inch or so in wheel diameter wont make the slightest bit of difference to us as we will be limited by skill and fitness before the wheel size.
