Do try to keep up at the back, old chap! 😉

WHat is the purpose of that response @mattyfez, except to be a total prick ?

It’s most probably a traffic safety control officer, they are there to ensure the traffic management is ok, eg the lights work, cones in place, all signs are up etc.

However thefts from sites have gone up, you cannot leave tools, batteries, small equipment lying around unattended. We had a water bowser stolen from one of our sites, it was found near a camp intact. I presume they thought it was a fuel bowser!

Thanks Lunge, £50 seems ok for a tailored plan – I’ll have a look at his website.

I have no time goal at the moment, cardio fitness is good from biking, but I need to transfer this to running now. The winter will help as its easier to run from your door than to cycle.

What would be a good time for a first marathon?

I have just entered the Manchester Marathon!

Bike fitness is good and I run occationally for around 1 hour.

I was thinking of doing a 12 week 1/2 marathon plan before Christmas – a break over Christmas itself – and a 16 week marathon plan after Christmas.

What are your thoughts on the Garmin Coach training plans, or would purchasing a plan on Training Peaks be better? (Which ones?) Luckily I have 6 months to train!

I have the 9.8 Procaliber – think it’s great and use it for gravel as well as light duty mtb’ing

Majorca is a great place for Road cycling, we have booked a last minute week there  at the end of this month. We are going to Alcudia – have been there before (it’s close to Pollenca) – plenty of places to hire bikes and some great routes up into the mountains, or to Sa Colabra or to the lighthouse.

I presume there are testosterone limits in womens as well as mens boxing?

The female boxer was born female and its not like her record is incredible, she has six or something stoppages in 50 fights.

Just look at some of the female (and male) UFC fighters, juiced to the gills!

Do you have a power meter – what was your average power?

    How much do you weigh?

I think possibly it would be better for a private enterprise to mayby run the centre and trails – simplify the buildings and invest in the trails.

I think its the building rather that the trails itself.

Imo a simple building with a cafe, bike shop and toilets are all thats required.

We also need to toughen up on sentencing for carrying knives.

    What is it currently?

Whatever it is, its not working.

According to the Ben Kinsella Trust (he was stabbed and killed in 2008) – reported knife (sharp instruments) crime increased by 78% in the last 10 years.

I think we need to look at legislation where the Police can search anyone on suspicion of carrying knives, without the fear of being accused of racism.

We also need to toughen up on sentencing for carrying knives. There is no need to be out in public with one.

When we were young we used to be scared of the Police, nowadays some people end up attacking and punching them –  and go on TV demanding action against them!

The Police have a tough job to carry out.

…. and this person is a multiple child killer.

Attacking the Police is unacceptable, as those did at Manchester airport and now it seems in Southport.

The Police should name the suspect, as it has been done with Huw Edwards.

By not giving all the facts, hearsay and speculation starts.

What an absolute horrific  of a thing to do to little children.

One thing is guaranteed is that he wont lasr long in prison with a big X on his baxk. Lwts hope he suffers.

I can’t see any acrion against the Police in this instance. If the Police sack the officer, I can see him winning a case against the Police.

Those arrested don’t seem to have a leg to stand on – they won’t get any public sympathy – as menrioned that assault in America and they would have been shot.

A well deserved kick imo, they were lucky they weren’t in America or they would have been shot.

It’s a reflection of the person and not being a roadie. I find it happens on the mtb as well.

When I hiked the GR20 I used an Anker solar charger to charge a power bank. Kept it either on the outside of my backpack, or outside the tent with a lead to the power bank inside.

You can’t really compare your speed as a solo rider to a group. You are constantly cutting through the air, the group takes turns on the front (They may also be fit and have expensive road bikes!)

A Fox 38 is a burly fork, way too much for Llandegla!!, so must either be an issue with the setup, or your grip.

No, the house has been renovated quite a bit. The ‘shed’ over the road from the house used to then do the snacks, but that has been closed for a while as well.

The trail center cafe was busy there last weekend!

For whatever reason, I just find it hard to do the indoor cycling thing. Doesn’t matter if it is Zwift, Wahoo or Trainer Road, after a few weeks I just loose interest.

I tend to do the outdoor/lights rides in winter with a little bit of running.

Israel was always going to respond to the attack from Hamas.

Hamas knew there would be a response. They are being influenced too much by Iran.

I take it manufacturers supply bikes to him for review – so it’s difficult to be negative about them if he wants to continue reviewing them.

I learned the hard way – go and test ride a bike yourself to determine if you like it. Although this is sometimes difficult.

You need a dry set of clothes for tent time!

Seperate the inner and outer tent if you can – or try and dry off the tent during the day.

Try and avoid 3 days rain in a row when planning your trip!!

I have done quite a few multiday camping trips including the GR20, coast to Coast, and most of Offas Dyke.

Don’t get to hung up on ultralight gear, as is, the lighter the tent, the smaller it is and the less space you have for sorting and drying gear.

Does it take account of a non-training (non-Trainer road) outdoor ride?

I did a month of Trainer Road back in January, then switched to Zwift, but to be honest, I have trouble sticking with indoor riding.

I don’t remember a traffic light system back in January, and don’t recall it taking account of outdoor rides neither, unless they were Trainer Road rides done outdoors.

I am, and pay for it annually. Is it worth it, possibly!!

I do like to record my rides and compare against myself. I’m not fast enough downhill to compete against the enduro lads and mostly ride road solo, so again, won’t be troubling any road KOM’s either.

I do like the heatmaps for mtb’ing and the route planner.

I have been doing your Welsh events for quite some time and enjoy the ‘gathering’ of it – I thought the Builth one last year was well busy. I missed last year’s Ruthin one though, as I was away on holiday.

I also enjoyed the Dyfi Enduro before that finished – not sure what happened there but is it an option to resurrect that one?

It looks like the youngsters today gravitate more towards enduro and ebikes and not soo much on fitness.

I would agree though with enhancing your promotion and advertising.

I will try and make this years Ruthin one!

I think Tenerife is probably out of it then.

So maybe GC (but lots of hills), Majorca (which I enjoyed and plenty of bike hire shops around). Hadn’t thought of mainland Spain – Costa Blanca. Will have a look.

Did they quote for removing the existing sub base as well? They may have priced for a complete new drive?

So new sub base, new binder and new surface course.

Can you post a breakdown of their price? Or did they just givr a lump sum?

I have used the ‘paint’ on my tarmac drive. It doesn’t last if you have cracking and so on in the tarmac, it will show again within 12 months.

You can overband any cracks, but its quite visible then from an aethetics point of view.

    50m2 is quite a big area – 6tonnes.

I would guess a couple of days total – to remove existing, touch up and level with sub base and lay 6tonnes.

I’d guess £750 materials, 3 man gang, 2 days inc mini excavator, roller and hand laid, another £1,250 to £1,500.

So £2,000 to £2,250 would be my guess, unless you are in London or somewhere more expensive.

I have put in an order for a few dhb clothing, which are reduced by up to 80%, happy to take a chance by using Paypal.

Won’t bother trying to return anything though.

As said above, there is a war against motorists.

But if everyone used public transport, walked and cycled – there would be a massive reduction in government income from no fuel duty, no road tax – no VAT from car maintenance etc.

Don’t think the government can afford for less vehicles on the road without increasing other forms of tax.

Our roads are in poor condition though!
