Riding on the road is great …..+1 for pedals & shoes – major difference. Lycra also very good – does what it’s designed for & imho looks right.
BTW I have some ultegra (sl i think) pedals & part worn cleats going if your interested – email if interested

I have read (I think Rogers book) that the drive side spokes on a rear wheel will obviously be a good bit tighter than non drive side & because rim manufacturers spec. tension should not be exceeded by too much you should get the drive side tension correct & the non drive side wil be what it is to achieve correct dishing.
You need to be concerned more that spokes on either side of the rim are the same rather than adjascent spokes – this also goes for a disc front although disc side will hold a little more tension.
Also when getting tght it only takes a slight turn of the nipple to significantly alter the tension.

If you started riding mtbs when I did you wouldn’t have a problem with lycra – everyone wore it back in the day!! – However in the summer it’s (not too) baggies for me these days – lycra on the road without a doubt – otherwise you’ll look wrong!

This is a leafy village where crime should be elsewhere!!
Of course Mildred a prosecution is a lot to ask for but they were seen by the neighbour who I subsequently found out followed in his car, flagged down one of you guys & sent them in the right direction – prossecution is a lot to ask – not because i think the police are crap – far from it – i think they do a fantastic job with ever shrinking funding – it must be a real kick in the teeth when your efforts don’t conclude with the hoped for conviction.

Yeah I see where you’re comin from spesh – thing is tying them down to the crime – no finger prints – but the reg of their car was reported – hence how they got caught – in fact neighbour followed them & flagged down the rozzers – the area was flooded with cops as it was a quiet night crime wise!

Yes & hopefully the **** will get prosecuted – well can only hope

Ribble good if you pay a bit extra for next day delivery – which is ok as prices appear to be cheaper than everywhere else in particular roadie bits – very good for campagnolo
High on Bikes on ebay really are superb too
CRC a bit hit & miss delivery & not as cheap any more.
    UK Bike store very good
Also used a few other ebay stores wthat have been very good – check the feedback

    Result
The Rozzers have recovered my bike – toe rag got about 150 metres – I live at the bottom of a hill – I guess they found a 53 chainring hard work & they couldn’t work out the gears!!
Big smiles & big respect to the police & my neighbour who alerted them.

Tired because you feel beat up or because you worked harder?
Could be because bike set-up is slightly different – you may be bringing different muscles in to the equation. I expect to feel tired tomorrow as first mtb ride for a while after months on the road bike – different riding position!!!

Springs flew out of my X0’s when i had ’em & managed to put ’em back ok & worked like new – was a right pain to change cables tho’ especially how you need to clip the cable end in to that clip thing (if i remember correctly) – Back on Big S now since bikes with sram were nicked!! 😥

No probs riding in just lycra (roadie too!! I’ll get my coat!!) but like the security on mtb of a tougher short over in case of a rider / ground incident

No!! Different spacing on cassette i think. You might get a front mech to work on a double set up! & brakes will work too!!

I agree Endura belts are pap – maybe i have a big gut for a 32″ waist which is pushing them down.
I seem to remember a similar post a while back – some one mentioned some shorts with a silicon type gripper strip

I guess I must be getting old……..Some of you newbies may not remember but….Back in the day (when I started mountan biking) we wore lycra – some was really gash bright stuff (I never went in for garish colours!!) Baggies came later.
Lycra on tarmac (IT WORKS) & baggies for dirt. Simple

I thought it was ok – not a bad watch. Bit too much history for me – I personally would have liked there to have been more on the frame building process – lets face it, the frame is the “heart” of a bike. Ok colours are not to everyones taste but imho the frame is spot on – if you see one of these in “the flesh” they’re really lovely!

Naked fella walking in the woods. Really made him jump back into the undergrowth.
Couple sh**ging in an open gateway next to a road – her on top didn’t miss a stroke when i gave’em a cheer (not tha i was looking you understand!!)
Another couple sh**ging in a 4×4 – blocking the trail, had to squeeze past – squeals from inside!!- mate had a flat at bottom of trail – 4×4 came down & past us – fella lookin quite pleased with himself – “lady” lookin a bit red! We gave ’em a cheer & hearty applause.

I think mrmo is right!! I guess that with a slight setback on the seat post you’ll be pushing over the top of the pedal stroke & down giving more smooth power rather than “chopping” down on the pedal stroke. It is all about the angles & traditionally set back posts are the norm so I’m guessing that if you need an inline post the frame could be a bit on the large side for your natural/comfortable riding position.

Veggie here too!! Go out in the cold, rain, snow wind etc. Interesting reading this. Veggies aren’t soft or “poofters” we just choose not to eat meat. Doesn’t bother me what others eat, why should it bother them what I choose to eat. My kids eat meat – I cook it for them, I’ll be cooking a Turkey at crimbo – just not eating it!!!!
I know a lot of veggies – most are as tough as any meat eater….Call me, or them a poofter….you’d better be able to run boy!!!

Is really bad news – horrible feeling!. Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago – $ bikes from garage – targetted? who knows but the scumbags got away with a lot of bike tokens worth of bikes – the custom bit hurts as it takes time & effort to get bikes built as you want them. Hope you get ’em back.

Speed/momentum is your friend so long as it’s the right speed. Smooth movement – weight distribution, braking with the right amount of speed to get you through stuff while still in control is the key. Practice, practice, practice & a little faith!!!!!!!!

Anyone living anywhere near Stoke on Trent should go & have a look, mostly only road bikes in the shop but go & get tempted. IMHO the bikes are gorgeous. Sean Kelly’s white 953 was there when I went for a peek – totally top class!! British bikes actually made in Britain!!

They are very nice frames – I bloody hope so!! should be getting mine in the next couple of weeks. Note to self to give ’em a call to get a progress report! Certainly the road bikes are very nice indeed, especially the 953’s, mine’s a 853 hardtail, white with deep metalic red panels & wcs bands, hopefully will be lush.
Karnali – What you gettin? sounds like a road bike??
