I’ve just watched on I-player. TBH I bought an FSA Carbon Road Stem off Ebay a few years back from a UK Seller as soon as I got it I could tell it was a fake (and not a very good one)! the face plate wasn’t right and didn’t line up with the front of the stem properly, also the face plate was a bit rough… to be fair I emailed the seller who took it back no questions??!!
As said before, if it looks too good to be tru….it probably is! The only exception probably is if buying from an established uk shop and let’s face it there are some great bargains out there if you’re prepared to look for them. ENVE Riser bars £70ish, Race face Turbine Cinch Double Crankset £170 etc.

Tubeless….DOOOO IT. I’m a recentish convert and can’t believe how easy it was after reading scare stories of needing a compressor etc. Honestly…TR Tyre off, old rim tape off, Stans tape on, insert valve, remount tyre almost completely leaving a little bit to close, pour in sealant, “roll” tyre bead over rim and inflate with a floor pump….No sh*t first time no bother – there’s plenty on interweb to show you how but it’s easy – in fact easier than mounting tyre with a tube!!!
PS Mine were Stans Crest / Arch Ex and Schwalbe Nobby Nicks & Racing Ralph

Make sure the tyre is un seated from the rim – push the tyre to the centre of the rim all round where there’s a channel – the tyre should become loose enough to allow removing with levers

    Chr1s (And anyone else)
You mention that you’re interested in Burner 3.1….FYI Turner Black Friday are selling off stocks of 3.0’s for silly money….$995!!! You need to be registered for their news letter to get the deal I think – I just bought one from a uk supplier for just over £1100 (new)But $995 is an absolute bargain. I’d been looking for a while cos I prefer the aesthetic of the 3.0 for some reason and the Ano Orange!!

Interesting comment re aero spokes creaking – I have wheels with both cxrays and aerolite on road and mtb wheels and haven’t had a problem! The reason I like them is because of they’re supposed to be stronger & lighter than regular round spokes and easier to build with (for me anyway)because they can be held to stop them twisting when tightening nipples

Have you tried simply copying the file and renaming it by editing the file name i.e. .CAD to .dxf or.dwg
I say to copy the file so you don’t bollox the original!!

Sudocrem is what you use if you haven’t used arse butter for a long ride – sudocrem is (afaik)for treating rashes whereas chamois cream is to prevent by cooling & greasing, it also generally contains some antibacterial gear too.
So in answer – I guess no!!

Why not go custom carbon and get a Parlee?
If you want a custom carbon – how about a Viner hand made in Italy!! – I’m prety sure that their top 3 frames ar available as custom – Actually the Mitus & Maxima are definately available as custom bit not 100% sure of Perfecta! – Lead times aren’t too scarey either -Very nice bikes.
I have this dilema too!! Custom steel – Rourke – or Viner!!

    So, stainless vs Ti …..
    Ti…. more choice in usa….
….953 is s’posed to be as good?? Even looks like Ti.
If you have a full 953 frame built in the uk you WILL have a TRULY Uk made bike & if you go to Rourkes you’ll have a Midlands made bike – Yes folk from Stoke will tell it like it is without bs – great people. Not from there myself but wifes family from that area.

Also – don’t forget that if you stay this side of the pond – you’ll get measured/fitted rather than sending measurments (although IF dealers will measure you) – Brian will probably sit you on a bike rather than a jig – see how you look & ask you how it feels etc – advise on cleat positions, bars, stems…..

I’d go have a word with Brian Rourke, if you’ve not been there it’s well worth a visit – there’s always been 953 bikes/frames in the shop to look at – sometimes Sean Kelly’s or Brian’s bikes – they’re well nice, pictures really don’t do the justice – go see them in the ‘flesh’ they really are very very nice – lightweight modern classics.
I have a Rourke 853 hardtail – couldn’t be any more pleased with it – Brian & all the staff are really friendly & know their stuff – even if you don’t buy from them you’ll get great advice.
