A few assumptions made, it has already been painted/laquered and it hasn’t come from China (different code) then its either:

    8714911031 for carbon,
8714911035 for aluminium or carbon/alu mixed
or 8714911039 for all other materials.

I’ve just turned 30 and my fiancee and I relocated to Cornwall (Falmouth) back in august from Sussex, as we had an opportunity to get on the housing ladder and to be closer to her family who are all down this way. Its been great so far (other than the weather!), friendly people, good selection of pubs/restaurants to visit, great scenery for dog walking and an endless number of beaches and coves to explore with her young nephews. Even got into paddleboarding, surfing probably still a while off though.

Truro not far away for ‘big town’ shopping, etc. Exeter a few hours away for gigs/comedy and is a convenient half way point to meet friends for a day.

    Downsides so far:
    – Public transport is a bit hit and miss and taxis to/from the pub arnt cheap.
    – When I have to travel back across country for work, it takes a bit more forward planning as the drive is pretty long.
    – Bit of a mixed bag for decent off-road riding, but I’m still exploring and finding stuff (and it’s been very wet).

So far so good, but we moved to be closer to family not going it alone so to speak.

Got a part ex 2020 carbon comp model about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I’ve had the best few days out on a bike in years since I got it, unfortunately the weather hasn’t been great so use has so far been limited.

A mate has just taken delivery of a carbon rise, which also looks great to be fair. But I like the integration and looks of the SL and have a really good spesh dealer 20 minutes away so that helped swing it for me.

Slightly different case to most on here, I was given a half decent windows laptop to use for work so I replaced my old personal MPB 15” with an M1 Air almost a year ago. Its been fantastic, the battery lasts seemingly forever (although it’s no longer used for anything too strenuous, web, light office work and some photo editing).

Thanks doomaniac. It was a 2020 Levo SL I was looking at in particular. Not sure if the 4 year coverage applies to the SL or just regular Levo models.

I moved to an M1 earlier in the year and ended up doing a fresh install, copying over files as required.

I found that a fair few of my old apps were incompatible with the new OS anyway, so no point in syncing them over to the new machine.

+1 for floor planner. We built a pretty decent model and got some free rendered previews done over a couple of evenings with no experience in these building modelling programs.

Was an Eastbourne local for 7 years until last week. My usual weekend rides were Friston or Stanmer park in Brighton. Both good for half a day or so, see trailforks for the popular trails if you’re pushed for time. Surrey is also worth a visit, would suggest visiting on a weekday as it gets very busy at weekends. Whenever I went, I would meet friends at the main car park near Peaslake village and just tick off the popular trails from there, plenty of options. Bedgebury is a bit bland, not really worth it unless you’re heading that way anyway in my opinion. The loop there is pretty short, so I’d usually do two laps with a quick refreshment stop between as an after work spin. Newhaven pump track and the Bull Track are also pretty good if you have the desire to get the wheels off the ground at all.

Heres a cheeky tip which may be of use to some others, I was recently able to get PC World to price match the following, slightly dubious looking supplier to get some Airpod Pros for a substantially better price than I could find elsewhere. As some others have said, I find they stay in perfectly during exercise, and the noise cancellation is excellent.

My 2 cents – having ran a fully topped out spec retina MacBook pro for around 6 and a half years, which performed flawlessly for graphic and industrial design work every day at uni, I was still able to sell it and cover the majority of the cost of a new 8gb M1 MacBook air to replace it, now the demands of uni work have reduced somewhat.

That said I still use this new machine to do some pretty heavy photo and video editing, graphics and light CAD work. Even with 8Gb it absolutely flies, memory pressure never gets too high and it outperforms my old intel machine by leaps and bounds. Whats more I can happily go a full day in the office and work all evening at home before needing the charger and now don’t even take the charger with me to work on occasions. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

I’m just over a year into using the composite burgtecs and they’ve not missed a beat. Being plastic they do look a bit rough after just a few rides, but otherwise they’re great.

Another vote for VHS tape. 2 rides in and it’s definitely improved things on my Scott.

Not so stealth ad, but I have a lightly used GX eagle mech and shifter to be sold, planned to clean up and get the advert listed over the weekend. Message me if it may be of interest. Cheers

Cheers all. We’re actually down that way a few weekends a year to see her family, but other than a few visits to Cardinham, I’ve not been able to swing many rides in.

I’ve seen Poldice, Unity woods and Grogley woods on youtube which are all on the hit list if/when we do relocate down this way. I think Unity woods are right near Scorrier so may be the same Wally. The coast to coast does sound like it will make the list, although maybe not this time as we’ll be pretty pushed for time.

On the subject, anyone here ride with a local group or with any lbs rides which would be worth joining? (when covid rules permit).

Thanks for the suggestion monkeyboyjc, I’d not come across the cell system either.

How was your experience with it. I quite like the look of the shift pod, but can’t tell what it’s like in practice. Do the pod buttons ‘click’? Also how loud is the servo in real world? Cheers!

I have the 2018 carbon tuned genius and also find the shock linkage bolts develop a slight creak after a while. For me, usually a strip, clean and degrease solves it for another 5/6 months.

The other slightly more annoying trait is the shock bolts working loose, even with thread lock applied, not sure if I’m alone with this?

I recently made the switch to trousers and picked up a pair of the bog standard fox ranger pants which have been spot on. Plain black, minimal branding, zip pocket and adjustable waist. £70 on the nose. https://uk.foxracing.com/ranger-pant/25139.html

I’ve just this morning pulled the trigger on the new M1 Macbook Air, to replace a 2014 15″ MBP which has been flawless since new, but now has a failed battery and is about to fall off official support next year. I did plenty of research and as Superficial mentioned, there’s plenty of very promising benchmark data available suggesting the M1 is more of an i7 and above replacement, ie https://www.anandtech.com/show/16252/mac-mini-apple-m1-tested/2

A good friend of mine has been making and selling a few of these for just the job, and they fold flat to store in the car boot, etc. Designed and hand-built in Sussex. If anyone’s interested let me know and I can put you in touch.

No, garbage. I’ve had two fail in the same way as Chester describes above, and the third had started developing a knock.

My 2 cents, put about 120km on the new spring, from gravel/xc loops to a few fairly tame dh jump lines.

I agree that initially it felt harsher off the bottom, so I’ve dropped around 5 psi and removed a couple of clicks of compression from my previous settings and finding it pretty much spot on.

Under it’s own weight it rests a couple of mm into the stroke, not the 12-15% I’d observed previously. Less noticeable dive, fork holds up well on the few berms I’ve hit this weekend.

Repost from a work colleague of my aunts makes for a tough read.

“I’m a consultant anaesthetist working in Frimley Park Hospital and this week all anaesthetists are being re-roled as intensive care doctors. We will be tasked with putting the sickest patients under anaesthetic and onto ventilators/life support machines. Each patient will require 10 days+ on a ventilator then may need a temporary tracheostomy to get them off the ventilator.

The intensive care unit is already full of COVID-19 patients on ventilators (12) with more requiring ventilation every day. My hospital usually has 4-10 patients on ventilators and is planning and EXPECTING 80 patients to require ventilation.

It seems the public health message is not getting through. Let me be clear. A lot of people are going to die. They will mainly be 70 years plus but be in no doubt, 30-40 year olds will die too.

Pubs have been busy, offices open, social events happening, kids parties etc. It all needs to stop. Infected people shed virus and it must be everywhere by now. It is your social responsibility to engage in social distancing. Actions NOW can prevent further disease transmission, ICU admissions and deaths in 10-20 days.

Two of my anaesthetic/ICU colleagues in other hospitals are off work due to being infected (doing ok). As health care workers, we are now EXPECTING to catch it despite PPE. This virus has been transmitted around the globe unchecked and will not stop until it has no where to go – social distancing/isolation Or patient death.

Here ends my public health message.

On a more personal level, my son turned three years old last week and is six weeks into a three year chemotherapy program for lymphoma. This virus is a big threat to his life and as I am going to be exposed this week doing my job, I can no longer live at home.

I have had to make the difficult choice: to do my job and save lives of people I don’t know, or to be with my son whilst he battles cancer. Alfie hopefully will survive his cancer and chemo, but many people will die from flu. My heart is broken making this decision, but I choose to save the lives of strangers and leave him in the care of my beautiful wife and family.

Later this week I’ll be moving into a motor home and will not be able to take any further part in his care for the next 6 months.

Bottom line. SOCIALLY ISOLATE or people die in two weeks”.

So had an hour to kill, decided to visit the old dirt jumps round the corner from my parents place.

Not ridden there in 10+ years. Safe to say they’re bigger than I remember these days.

Arrived here as well. Finned pads, both bled and ready to roll, although they’ll obviously want swapping.

Anyone know the part numbers for the correct olive and barbs to shorten the hoses?
