I like the idea of the Pompier system here in France. It takes the pressure off Police and Ambulance services and instills discipline and sense of community in places where there may a shortage of worthwhile employment as society changes.

Not really sure how that measures out in cost to the community, but when I had a big off on the bike I was glad to know ten Pompier were legging it up the mountain to cart me off.

I ride a mtb with drops a lot at the moment, kind of roadie in training. Decided I had to get the guard off the clippers as a hair reduction exercise all over for summer, as 47 years worth of growth is all a bit much. I’ll not be going for the full on veet sheen though.

Looks great, but be careful not to garrotte yourself when you ride on the hoods 🙂

I once took someone out on bikes, me on my fancy full suss, he borrowed my gf’s cheap old hardrock with judy tts.

He then showed ridiculous amounts of speed and skill over rough terrain and put me to shame.

    I’d just use them

    Er, dodgy knee?

I’d be thinking you are going at it a bit hard considering your still recent op.

I wonder if it’s the same old, not bedding the pads in properly problem that mountainbikers have got their heads around, but roadies coming from calipers to trp’s, need to figure out.

Trains are great off peak, but you need to check that bikes are allowed when you book your tickets, fallen foul of that myself which ended up me killing time for a few hours.

I live near Monaco, and have a Renault Trafic van, google says 128km each way, how much were you looking at for transfers and how many of you are there?

    Just out of interest….

I was one of six kids, one of the reasons we spent so much time outside, was that my parents were very much a part of the pub culture of the day. The rest of the time they were working.
They really didn’t apply themselves to parenting in the same way modern parents often do.
That is why over a period of time we developed our own interests.

Saddles are strange. Rode from South of France to Uk on my Brooks it was ace. Recently started using it again and it’s whooping my ass! Will have to fiddle and adjust to get it right, but it will come right.

If you go to Monaco, trudge up to the palace for great views and make your way on foot from there to the Oceanographic institute for the kids.

    here

A trip inland to St Paul de Vence is good too, but go early to ensure best place for lunch.
