To some extent I think there is common ground between everyone that rides. Bomberman’s story hits another nail on the head, though. Other less kit-oriented activities don’t leave room for this kind of one-upmanship. Biking does, but thankfully there are masses of riders who just don’t care about scoring points. It’s possible to be interested in the kit without being a nob, but wherever there are consumers there’ll be that kind of venom.

I’m just reading the graphic novel and it’s amazing!

Can’t wait to see the film in IMAX.

The whole UK rave scene bastardized the sounds coming out of Detroit and Chicago to the point where the focus was on getting off your t.i.t.s. rather than the music.

Music doesn’t start pure, then go on to be unfortunately bastardised. It’s in constant flux as artists influence others. House music was strongly influenced by elements of soul- and funk-infused varieties of disco.

Now who’s bastardising?

Also, Detroit techno and Chicago house scenes were renowned for being awash with drugs. I suppose it’s debatable where the ‘focus’ was.

I got my first DSLR at Christmas, and have had fun so far bringing it out on rides and on walks and occasionally when out with mates. I’m right at the start of the learning curve, and keen to carry on up that hill. I’ve found that I look at my environment in terms of how could I make a good photo with it now, something I didn’t do before

I can see how it could become too much, missing out on life coz you’re snapping away. I’m not going to force myself to keep learning until it becomes a chore. It’s a hobby I’m enjoying, and long may that continue.
