senditnow says "Your parcel must not weigh more than 30kg, have any one dimension longer than 1.5m, and the total size of the longest dimension added to the size of measuring round the thickest part must be no more than 3m."

    Same as all the rest.

I had a big argument with the Post Office a few months back about their T&Cs. I was posting a frame in a flatscreen TV box, and had to quote their own T&Cs at them to make them take the parcel. The guy behind the counter was using L+H+W till I set him straight. But I digress.

    As geoffj says, TJ's was oversize, girth being distance around the box, ie 80 + 30 + 80 + 30 = 220.
Does all this mean the only way to send a bike is in two boxes?! I'm flabbergasted.

    payperparcel say

"NOTE: Please ensure that the sizes and weights specified here are correct, we are now operating a zero tolerance to the oversize parcels using our automated tracking alerts.

No parcel over 31Kg is allowed to be sent under any circumstances.

Any parcel sent over the specified size will be held until the payment has been supplied along with an admin fee of £25 per parcel, parcels may be destroyed after 5 days of non payment."

    😯

Is there no way I can honestly send a bike with no hassle? 😕

A quick google tells me "Amtrak went into administration on August 22, 2008 and has ceased trading." 🙁

Is that what he said? Really? Is it? Eh? You know what you've done there? You've set up a false opposition.

Good idea. Let’s see how popular this place is when equal treatment begins.

Like Nico says, she’s Deutsch. Mate of mine from Munich saw her on a float at a carnival in New Orleans a few years ago, shouted some German at her, and she spotted him and threw him some beads. He was happy.

This thread = how to brutalise children

Or, why don’t we make them all feel fear of imminent violence before they do anything? You know, just by making them flinch when we pass, and glaring at them in the street and such like. They’d all behave then. 🙄

If they are on your private property you can take what photos you like!

It’s not where they are, but where you are. If you’re on your property, fine. If you’re in public, fine. If you’re on someone else’s property, fine if it’s still ‘public space’. If you’re on someone else’s property without permission to take photos, not fine.

    Dead easy, innit?

Some of you miss the point – it isn’t me I’m concerned about, it’s a 27-month-young daughter of mine who doesn’t sleep because there might be a spider “walking on my bed”.
Ambrose, MTFU? To a baby? You ****’ idiot!

Can’t you show her that it’s not a problem? Take this as a springboard to show her stuff about spiders she’ll be interested in. Films, books you can read with her, trips to nature reserves, etc. Don’t confront her fear, or run around trying to protect her from it, because either of those options simply reinforce it. Channel the issue into something useful instead.

Goods, facilities and services should be provided with regard to the religion or belief of people using them.

    Why?

    It’s the law.

Let’s hope this thread doesn’t evolve into the standard ‘religionists are WRONG!’ doggerel that periodically pops up on STW like an unflushable floater.

The law also protects people from unfair treatment on the grounds of any lack of religion. So if Spongebob’s landlady refused to fix the lights because she said he was ‘godless’, he could bring a claim if he so wished. It’s worth pointing out that’s all the Jewish couple have done. It hasn’t been heard yet.
