Not found any increased drag tubeless. All depends the pressures you run i think.

Was there last weekend. Stiffed with Paris hotel prices for not much benefit despite trip advisor. Musée d’Orsay was excellent the last twice I’ve been but didn’t make it this time. Walking tour round montmatre was really good (free but ‘Tip’) and a wander round l’opera, louvre, notre dame and palais royale is worth it even if you don’t go in. Twenty years since i went up the Grande arche of la defense but it was different. So too was montparnasse tower at night but 30 Euro.

Advice from a local was don’t eat anywhere with pictures on the menu, lots of translations or lots of choice on the menu (frozen food) stood us in good stead.

@golddigger having thrown wheels about the garage in frustration trying to get them set up tubeless with various gorilla, duck, pvc tape combos, with pints of stans, i went with fattystripper.com. latex strips you stick to rim. Up first time with floaters and no loss of pressure over time. Delivered from US really quickly too.

Don’t get me wrong the incidence rates and vehicle are a large part of it, but so too is the individual. Big data is profiling individual based on factors mostly driven from postcode.

I don’t work in car insurance but the techniques that are being touted round my industry are cited as having been successful in car/ house/pet insurance. The price certain individuals will tolerate differs so you don’t need pare back prices, and for the ones that have greater propensity to claim – say high alcohol buying and high smoking rates indicating poorer socio economic profile – you increase prices beyond that individual’s price point and acquire more profitable business.

It’s a murky world and hard to establish the array of factors that are behind the decision making algorithms as data feeds have up to 1000 items that are profiled at each postcode. Clubcard, bank create an income stream by collecting and sharing depersonalised data of purchase histories.

The EU GDPR regulation is coming but because this is postcode data and not individual based data it falls outside the scope of the proposed directive.

Facebook is irritating, the scary stuff is happening behind the scenes. That car insurance price or house insurance is based on your postcode. One of the big drivers is not how much car crime there is on that area but what individuals look like.

They’ve taken postcode, looked up Experian, FSS or acorn to work out what kind of income you have, what papers you read, approximate health info and your socio demographic. Oh and probably where you shop and typical products bought.

Because it’s at 20-odd houses it’s not “personal”. But the price you get is how willing they are to do business with you and they’ll price themselves to be uncompetitive. That’s fine until they all start doing it and suddenly it’s a fortune because the area round your audi are all alky gits who make lots of claims.

I’m breaking out the tin hat and paying cash for everything. Including my counselling…

Had steering issues when i changed to a Bluto and was sent the wrong race crown. The right one made huge difference, floaters were fine.

Galibier seem to be road orientated, but their stuff is really well made for any biking. All it needs is to leave any preconceptions at the door.

Tried gorilla tape on v2 on one wheels and couldn’t get it to seal. Tired split inner tube and couldn’t get the bead seated – but have since seen vaseline suggested to lubricate the beads over the inner tube – soapy water wasn’t working.

Ended up fatty stripper and providing you follow instructions carefully it works a treat. But i then rolled tyre off the bead on a mound of grass whilst up in the hills so decided to change my rims.

A friend went gorilla tape route and it worked but took three goes and a lot of fluid. Got a message from him on Friday that the tyre had flatted after spinning on the rim at 12psi meaning a walk home.

Touch wood I’ve had no problem on BR710 and fatty stripper down to 4psi. This might be unfair, but I get the impression the on one wheels aren’t overly amenable to tubeless.

Thanks, both for further pointers and the offer of help! I’ll have a shifty at those.

With the three inch dusting in Clackmannanshire I’ve just had the fat bike out in snow for the first time. Fun, but feel it in the legs!

Depending on if you lash with sweat, spare cycling gear for return leg. Nothing worse than putting on wet stuff for a cycle home when you’re tired after the day, and tempting to skip it from your packing to save weight!

Beatles seemed nothing more than a boy band

The Queen a relic and sad icon of years of abuse of power and wealth.

Back to the future franchise. Badly acted nonsense.

Galibier mistral jacket is excellent shower proof soft shell that’s intended for roadies but I’ve only had mtb experience, which has made it jacket of choice.

You can get day 1 cover from some of the friendly societies (exeter or cirencester) but price tapers the longer the period of disability before a claim is made. So 4 weeks is lowest offered by most traditional insurers, going up to 52 weeks.

Be aware that claim amounts are half to sixty percent of earnings because it’s not taxed. Important that whatever cover amount you take out can be limited if the earnings in the 12 months before a claim drop. Payment will only be the 50-60% of that amount.

Friends Life no longer exist and they’re part of Aviva. LV= gets decent product ratings. Others too, but all much of a muchness.

Only done Glentress and Innerleithen on a rigid fatty. Glentress was ok but definitely more arm pump on the couple of trails after spooky. All doable though.

Inners was what persuaded me to get a Bluto though. Felt completely smashed after that but that’s trying to keep up with mate on full suss.

But surely must be better than being bikeless.

At least with the crown race from on one (a tenner) you can always put a Bluto in it if you want.

I like the floaters a little harder and 10 is fine but needs 12 at Glentress otherwise i get tyre roll in corners. 13st 13 (in denial about being 14st…)

For the commute home once a week, 20 – 25 gets a nice roll on.

There was a lot of trees removed from that run that opened it up quite a bit. The trail is faster and has more flow now you’re not worrying about handlebars clipping trees.

Hadn’t noticed straight lines, so if I’m taking them it’s not deliberate but better trail after forestry work.

I’ve had the same issues with gorilla tape soaking up sealant so needed to add more, But the tape started peeling off and it was a right faff to clean up and reapply.

Stans is overpriced, WTB do a tape that used to be cheaper but the price seems to have nudged up alongside gradual acceptance of stans prices.

Thanks to rikon – never knew what the tape type was to look for non branded alternatives. Now purchased!

Fortunately not had any punctures since going tubeless on the fat bike but have read it is a waste of time carrying co2 as you’ll need a bajillion canisters for the volume.

Tend to carry a pump a light tube and worms just in case it’s fixable without the faff of putting the tube in.

They’ve been teaching motorcyclists the basis of defensive riding for years. Yes there are twunks everywhere that need to pay more attention, but really there is little point getting on your self-righteous soapbox from a hospital bed. Why not take some steps to appreciate that you are vulnerable, even if it’s not your fault? If you don’t want to do hi-vis, fine, but chuck a flashing light on the back particularly if you are going to be on country lanes.

Thatlooks neat. How much fuel do you carry on a trip for a couple of days and how effective are the meth burners? How much longer than a jetboil?

I’ve got a jetboil but,as was said, the weight and bulk with a canister is mildly annoying.

Not tightening the rear skewer after building a new frame up. Taking off up the hill after showing my mate the rear wheel popped out and bent the rear triangle.

That was 27 years ago, had taken six months of saving, and I’m still traumatised.

Cocaine is a heart killer, particularly in young lives with normal coronary arteries.

Strong correlation with celebrities and cocaine?
