Here’s a novel idea iolo, get yourself a job that’s a bit busier and phoning in work hours is not possible.
Not unreasonable to expect that computerized stock levels might actually feed back into the online shop in a modern world only to find three days later there is no stock. It’s too frequent to be a coincidence and totally amateurish.
dufusdipFree MemberCancelled my last two orders with them for that same reason, the last being 2 months ago.
dufusdipFree MemberDo people still have newspapers?
Upside down on the radiator after wiping off the mud with a wet sponge after washing the bike down. Same with the shorts then radiator gets the worst sorted for the next day and if they’re still damp, then sealskins.
dufusdipFree MemberI use the headband that came with my cree and an extension cord for the battery pack. That gives enough light to be able to tramp through woods in the middle of nowhere and a decent light on low beam too.
The battery pack is a bit heavier, but you can get alternatives that are still strong and take AA rechargeables, like this
dufusdipFree MemberBuzzrack takes 4 securely and tilts. Alternating bikes and dropping saddles takes 4 mountain bikes without turning the bars. Quite heavy and you feel the car handling change when fully loaded, but that’s the price for something robust I suppose.
dufusdipFree MemberFWIW, I thought the Rhino tape seemed decent value but it turned out to be a pig to fit and not as invisible as expected. Replaced with the 3M helitape off ebay and there was noticeable improvement in quality and went on a lot easier.
dufusdipFree MemberLBS struggle to get components from Madison at the same sort of prices as CRC can. I wouldn’t haggle with a LBS because they’re so small that it is their livelihood and will try to pick up something else if I can while I’m there. They need support for that one time you have something you can’t fix.
Happier to buy second hand to get a deal and built most of my bikes getting better components where someone else has paid the depreciation. No way I’d pay £375 RRP on XTR cranks, and still no way I’d pay the CRC price of £270 either.
dufusdipFree MemberHa ha! I stand corrected
Sorry must have dropped off as it was being shovelled.
dufusdipFree MemberI’ve run clipless on the road for years so SPD felt more natural on mtb.
But I did start to have issues running spd recently when I got my first northwave boot. Even running new cleats there is a lot more twist needed to release. Suspect the cleats are more recessed but this could be related to why you couldn’t release even on a low tension.
dufusdipFree MemberThe man has made an utter fortune from selling this and Situational Leadership to gullible HR departments of large companies.
Mildly interesting but also mildly patronising to believe everyone can be pigeon holed into four broad brush groups. Or are the psychologist creating boxes for us to identify with and feel comfortable to work within those parameters…
dufusdipFree MemberI’d be happy that the Beeb weren’t lining Bernie’s pockets if it wasn’t for the fact they have probably had to buy themselves out the contract only for C4 to pick it up for more than the remaining cost.
Was an avid F1 fan, but it is the most dreary ‘sport’ going now. BBC would be well advised to resurrect saturday afternoon Rallycross that was some proper motorsport! Seeing as they cba with MotoGP…
dufusdipFree MemberFelt very tired, almost like CE was just getting a bit of TV practice/exposure in the run up to Top Gear.
dufusdipFree MemberBridgestone BT016 were really good on Fireblade and Zx6, rear wore too quickly but was impressed by using the BT023. The old BT014 wore oddly on the front and ended up feeling like a 50p across the profile but not had that on the later tyres.
Pirelli Corsas felt vague and wore terribly unevenly.
Part worn race tyres were great and good value when they used Rennsports or RaceTec but Dunslops that they now seem to use are terrible, false economy, and dont hold the heat well enough for commuting on the road.
But check your pressures at least weekly. The bike is really sensitive to them across uneven road surfaces and over-bandings and it will cost you in tyre wear. I’m surprised you got that sort of mileage out of them and didnt fall off – respect!
dufusdipFree MemberLeftfield, Corn Exchange Edinburgh in Oct. First gig since Chemical Brothers in 2002 ish.
Excited.
dufusdipFree MemberI’d second the EPDM route. Did a large double garage flat roof in this and was simple to do, even though the roll of the stuff is heavy. Fit and forget, though not sure if it works on pitched.
dufusdipFree MemberIn case it didnt quite come across in written form correctly, what I was getting at was
1) Cycling gets a huge amount of investment these days in terms of infrastructure. That’s great. It’s not perfect and never will be, there is a danger that we come across as ungrateful for what we have and simultaneously expect too much without acknowledging how far we have come.2) In the pursuit of a little balance on a naturally-biased biking forum I was highlighting that it is not black and white. That pass looked close, but not that unreasonable from the front camera. The reaction and subsequent elements were out of order
3) Some cyclists on the road expect unreasonable gaps to be left and this can sometimes affect the cyclist’s reaction. Two cars on the country road was an extreme example for other road users and not something that would/should be appropriate, but for some drivers they might concede that they have already made some adjustment that they have given more room to a cyclist.
4) The driver was cautioned for his public order offences and assault, NOT for his driving or the pass.
5) Presumed liability for the larger road user is not going to happen until cyclists can be identified or be accountable. How on the one hand can we say ‘dry your eyes’ I only jumped a red light and not also dry our eyes if we get a bit spooked by a close pass. This might come across that I am defending the driver, which I am not, I am just mentioning that it will come across as slightly duplicitous from the cycling community.
dufusdipFree MemberAs a cyclist I really loathe these self-made cycling vigilantes and his You Tube feed shows he gets off on being sanctimonious to anyone he can video. I don’t think he appreciates that it is having a more damaging effect in polarising and cementing anti-cycling views.
It’s an interesting point though, the cyclist was entitled to be a safe door-opening distance into the road but it didn’t look an unreasonable gap. Cyclists should expect a little more room, but on some country roads when a car overtakes another there is maybe only a foot between mirrors; it’s not reasonable to expect a whole lane’s gap when passing.
It’s not breaking news that there are a lot of idiots driving cars out there. But it was nice to see someone gobby getting their comeuppance.
dufusdipFree MemberProbably in a minority here, but Haribo sweets are awful. And their adverts suck. Or is that the other way round…
Think that is what started me getting out my bed early in the morning, to beat my sister to opening the new box of Rice Crispies for the toy.

I would not employ an individual with visible tattoos not that I personally have an issue with tattoos
You should probably read this.https://www.gov.uk/employer-preventing-discrimination
And back in the real world, a piece of legislation might not be the explicit reason not to give the job, but sure as hell will be a contributing factor behind the scenes.
OP I think you have a good outcome here and probably helped to cement the respect with your son. Went through something similar with a motorbike with my old man and it didn’t go well when he just refused to engage or discuss.
dufusdipFree MemberTo be honest, slightly confused what you’re looking for. I don’t really think of trail centres as ‘singletrack’, even if they can be fast, and that’s more natural stuff.
Glentress is great, but busy unless you go for the black XC or the unmarked routes. Innerleithen is more flowy but has a much tougher climb to get the reward.
Comrie croft is great but short, so you need to do 3 or 4 laps really, but the blue there is a hoot.
Carron Valley is poor in comparison and not had a chance to ride many of the other trail centres personally, but I’ve had rave reports from a friend who has been up to Laggan and Golspie trails.
Glen Tilt is good for the scenery and the route we did was more landy track withe a long but gentle climb through some fords, then really fast on the way down to allow side by side racing. Plenty more up there that are more singletrack. But if you really want to stick to trail centres…
dufusdipFree MemberAnyone else getting the message Private video you do not have permission to view?
Watched it this morning and wanted another watch. Is it one time only?
dufusdipFree Memberthanks Matt – I laugh every time I pass that Strome Ferry sign. 🙂
dufusdipFree MemberJust signed up for some work supplies. We have a team cafetiere and all are impressed with the current one. We’ve been round numerous varieties from a wide range of sources – supermarket, Whittards, Artisan Roast and Valvona & Crolla and the Pact probably comes in the top 3.
I was a bit concerned how few varieties that Pact have so will watch with interest on whether the next batch gets a bit ropey.
dufusdipFree MemberInteresting stat, andyrm. What percentage of customers starting the sales journey were leaving things in their basket and not completing before the eamil?
Putting on my work hat instead of customer one…
dufusdipFree MemberRace face stash tank (which doesnt come with a tank, it’s a description of the sleeveless top) and tools in a bottle cage. The fake bottle is not big enough so put a Leynze bracket under the cage for inflators and nozzle, which I lost last weekend!
You need pads good enough to ride in, or enough ability not to need pads.
I’m not 100% sure on it. Seems to be less restricting, but not yet solved the problem of the water getting horribly warm.
dufusdipFree MemberI do sympathise. Many
horsesports cow owners are under the belief that everyone needs to do whatever is required to accommodate the very differing and individual needs of the cow.Seems it is commonly the car that the rider doesn’t seem to have control with several having been spooked by pedestrians. Any other road user not having full control would find themselves in bother.
Don’t think you were unreasonable.
dufusdipFree Member‘You left something in your basket’ emails.
No I didn’t. I was either:
a) fantasy shopping
b) found it cheaper elsewhereNow sod off and stop spamming me.
dufusdipFree MemberIs there etiquette?
Been caught up put me head down and gapped the catcher. That’s all bets off in my book.As said above I love following my mate fairly close, or anyone that’s reasonable quick, but I wouldn’t push past or want them to get our the way unless I feel I’m massively faster; which israrely the case. I’ll not try to be a dick and pass or shout arrogantly that I want past.
Two sides to each story therefore rarely a need to rant
dufusdipFree MemberGood that AB have confirmed oval!
Biopace in the 80s made a difference and I liked the change it made then, and I’ve noticed a difference on the NW MTB now.
dufusdipFree MemberSummer – motorbike and 35 mins on good day, normal 40.
Winter 1h 40 on a good day, 2h 15 on a bad. Not london, central scotland…
Summer on MTB 2h 30 on a roadie 2h.Who says public transport works??
Working hours half seven to half five. Cut it back from quarter to seven finish out of sanity.
dufusdipFree MemberContaminated pork meat is a really good dietary advance, I’ve heard it be said.
dufusdipFree MemberI’d seen that there were companies setting up to do narrow wide rings in the new XT offset BCD but I’ve not seen anyone being in your face about doing an oval ring.
I’m sure it will come in time, but I’ve got a set of XTR 980 cranks that I ran into the problem that I couldnt convert from a double to 1 x 10 oval because of the unusual BCD size of 88mm and none of the suppliers did ovals.
Absolute black are only talking about a round ring for XT at the moment.
http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/oneup-components-offers-narrowwide-for-shimanos-newest-cranks/dufusdipFree MemberSky performance is certainly well up there but they have been quite active in looking for alternative training and psychology methods that could make a difference across the entire team. Froome appears to have a different physiology and it will be interesting to see how strongly Sky team support his commitment to independent testing more widely in the team.
But at the same stage what seems to have been missed from much scrutiny is that Nibali’s and Contador’s performance drops markedly when overnight testing starts; both of whom have a lot more tangible doping related questions previously. Quintana was a bit more knackered by the final climb from the efforts Movistar were putting in pre-climb. Naively I believe he is clean too.
Porte looked burst in the hills today which points more to a real rather than chemical effort. Or clever cover story, as an option for the cynics.
