You’ll find no love for Bose products in these parts!

I love Bose, and have several of their products. I don’t have the Sound Touch however, so i can’t comment on it directly. But if it’s like their other stuff it’ll be expensive, brilliant quality and it won’t be compatible with many connection standards.

    Not much help, i know!

What is that yellow bike curiousyellow?

An On One Whippet, as seen here. Like an Inbred, but plastic!

Ever heard the P.T. Barnum quote:

no one ever went broke overestimating the intelligence of the American people.

    Thats what happened.

    Or as Churchill said:

You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing. After they’ve tried everything else.

There’s usually some good History stuff on the Iplayer.

If you’re bothered about what it weighs, then you’ve got the wrong bike. Anyway, the only time you’ll ever notice an extra kg is when you have to lift the bike over a gate.

Tuc biscuits, dipped into a freshly baked Camembert…

    My word that sounds good.

    You Sir, are not mistaken.

My wife and i went through a phase of dipping all sorts into Camambert. Tuc Biscuits were a success, Swedish Meatballs less so.

Listening now. Thank you for the pointer.

I’ve never heard of LBC before – i’ve been an R4 listener for some time, though.

+6 for Cae Gwyn. The barn is pretty basic, but for somewhere to sleep, eat and shower betwixt rides it’s fantastic.

Beware of cheap tensioners; i have a DMR fixed one on my vertical drop out frame. When i change my chain, it’s far too long for the tensioner to take up; however if i remove another link then it’s too short for the frame….

I’ve just bought an Inbred with fork-ends.

In fact, i’ve just found a load:

    Sauce.

Considering the price of these cars, there’s some pretty awful bikes on show…

I used to listen to music whilst running, but now i can’t stand it.

Sometimes i’ll listen to some Radio 4 podcasts, but mostly i’ll have nothing.

and it appeared to have more fuel than necessary on board….

There are a variety of reasons for which they will often take more fuel than they strictly need, especially when flying over water.

    Fair point, well made.

I still think it’s unlikely to have been landed anywhere. Time will tell, i suppose.

I believe that with the right conditions, low speed approach, maximum braking and reverse thrust applied (and depending on how much weight the aircraft is carrying) that a 777 can come to a full stop from the point of touchdown in somewhere between 600m and 900m. That’s not a very long runway

    In perfect conditions perhaps.

But this aircraft had 239 POB – that’s nearly 20000kg, at a conservative estimate. Add to that another 6000-8000kg for baggage and 40000ish kg for fuel (8200kg per hour burn, and it was 2 hours into a 6 hour flight – plus a bit more diversion fuel) and you’ve got a significantly heavy aircraft. And this doesn’t account for any freight in the holds.

Plenty of slack handed estimates on my part. But this isn’t an empty aircraft we’re talking about.

Double check those On One stems; the decent price only applies to the ones that are out of stock.

Any more to add to this thread? I’ll be able to post my new Inbred up in the next couple of months!

Very happy with mine – Octavia VRS, obviously (this is STW, after all). Bought new 18 months ago, and it’s needed nothing except a tyre which went bang as a result of a pothole.

I was in a similar situation, in that i got a big discount on a run-out model. Ours came with loads of extras for free; leather interior, sat nav, DAB radio, parking sensors, a fancy trip computer thing, etc.

I can’t speak for the Fabia in particular, but the Skodas are well recommended.

I know it’s unlikely but this could be an extra terrestrial grab.

Nobody can say it’s not possible.

    It’s not possible.

I’d also suggest it’s unlikely to have been the actions of some kind of terrorist organisation. Firstly, as the culprits would have claimed responsibility for it very soon after the event. Secondly as they’d have done it in such a way to generate media coverage for their cause (ie. not out at sea, where no one can see it).

As kryton says, you can use your existing middle ring, but you’ll need to fit some shorter bolts to account for the missing big ring.

Also, there’s no reason you can’t use your existing 9sp chain. Google “Surly Singlespeed 101”. There’s a load of great stuff on the website.

    Welcome to the brethren.

Thanks for the input, all. I am pretty heavy, and like the idea of fit-and-forget, so i think Arch is probably the way forward. Unless there’s anything else i should consider? Mavic?

WRT the Superstar wheels, i would consider them if they had the singlespeed hubs in stock. Also, this is going to be a bit of a special build for me, so i’d like plenty of Hope on there.

I once offended a Yorkshireman by putting Hope bits on an On One.

I bought an On One top a few years ago, and inside it says “Not suitable for sale or use in Lancashire”

Nice bike, by the way! How old is Abigale? I’m hoping to get Duffer Jr involved in some proper biking before long…
