Yeah, looking at eBay at the moment, no weights listed, shall contact the sellers

I’ve just weighed mine for you; 1004g including it’s stuff sack.

They’re very overbuilt, with loads of strengthening points all over them. This is so they can be folded in half and used as a stretcher if needs be (although it’s bloody hard to carry someone on one!).

    An ex-Mendips local here.

There’s some cracking riding to be had, just make sure the weather is good. As above, the area can really suffer in the winter months. We used to regularly meet at the Crown at Churchill and ride a loop around the Rowberrow / Black Down / Burrington area.

Google will give you a few ride ideas (here, for example) but I think you’d be better off with some local knowledge to fill a weekends’ riding.

Current issue 24hr give you a nice strong sealable polybag to use if needed.

    …and kleenex!

Stamford is nice, but full of people plumped up on their own sense of self importance.

Stamford; the Singletrackworld of the East Midlands! 😉

Nice places in Peterborough? Stamford. I really want to like Peterborough, but i can’t. I hate the place.

Stamford, however is lovely! A proper little old world idilyic town. It’s only 15 mins north, and there’s some wonderful places to eat. I can certainly recommend ‘Tobie Norris‘.

    How about a BMW E36? You’d get a 325 within budget – lovely torquey straight 6 and rear-wheel-drive.

I had the same problem. I just bought a USB WiFi dongle for a couple of quid, which solves the problem altogether.

However, if you’re an OCD type then you may be unable to accept this…

Can’t comment on the Mayhem, but my MULE is around 5 years old and has been fantastic. If anything, the size of it makes it tempting to carry around loads of stuff you don’t need.

I really love Camelback stuff, and spares are readily available.

Not tempted to put the extra 5 miles in?!

    Good work!

Street Art looses it’s context once it’s removed from the street, i think.

That said, i hope they make loads of money and provide some good for the yoofz in the local community.

I facilitate team / confidence building events for a charity that works with underprivileged yoofz (16-24 year olds). I’ve also been subjected to endless teambuilding events over the years. They can be very effective.

In my experience, they work best when the team is taken into a mutually alien environment. Therefore if they work in an office, then you’ll be best off getting them outside and doing some hand-on stuff. You’ll often find the individuals who are strong characters in their normal environment will become a different person once they’re taken outside of their comfort zone.

He did the Yukon ride, then the Marathon des Sables then was traveling across America under his own power when he was hit by a truck.

I remember watching the Yukon ride first time around and them being quite matter of fact about how the winner beasted it but Mr Cracknell did very well for a newby who barely rode before he took this on.

I’m fairly sure he did MDS first, followed by RAAm (where he sustained a serious injury) then the Yukon was last. The whole point of the Yukon was that he was doing it after suffering brain damage.

Our instructors used Band of Brothers as training aids when discussing leadership in training.

There are some good examples in a few war films. In ‘Saving Private Ryan’ for example, there’s a good demonstration of what happens when people aren’t allowed the freedom to act independently.

    Link.

Not sports specifically, but human endurance from a science perspective:

’Survival of the Fittest’ by Mike Stroud. Awesome.

Small engines at high RPM. That’s what made the old F1 cars sound like they did.

It would appear the Big Orange Bedford is, or at least was, for sale: Clicky.

Anyone fancy a punt?! The price is a bit much for me. I could put a bodykit on a 206cc for that sort of cash…

If you can make it to Bristol there’s a lovely Chinese restaurant within 5 mins of the M5, here.

Not Bristol’s best, in my opinion, but really easy to get to from the M5.

I’ve done a bit more listening since this thread was put up. It’s pretty interesting, but there doesn’t seem to be much journalistic neutrality. On the subject of Maria Miller for example, the female presenter just launched a pretty direct attack at Miller and demanded her immediate resignation…

With all this talk about ‘football:taxi ratios’, ‘manhole cover engineering’ and ‘rope burn rates’, are you not in danger of simply employing someone on the basis that they can talk bollocks in a coherent manner?

Let’s see what else you can buy for £32k.

    Exhibit 1:

You’ll even have £1050 change. You could buy a bodykit for that. probably.

    Flange, GregMay and fozzyuk apparently.

I’ve seen that thread before. Unfortunately, Flange’s blog went quiet in july last year following an injury… Hope all is well, old boy!

There’s loads of free stuff on the Kindle store. Mostly old stuff that’s out of print.

‘South’ by Earnest Shackleton is very good, but i don’t think it’d interest your wife if she’s expecting some Catherine Cookson…

Can you still buy the Swift fork on it’s own? The Singular website only shows it as part of the Swift frameset.
