I fixed a racing ralph (that had a large slit from glass) by first patching it with a standard size puncture kit patch, then patching over a larger area with section a inner tube patch from Halfords (the kind that you cut to size yourself). I had no trouble with it for the lifetime of the tyre. I think the large patch cost about £3.

O2 are (apprently) planning to stop unlimited data tarrifs, limiting them to 500mb a month, and £5 per additional 500mb. If it's true other providers will (probably) follow suit.

Wow, a cow with only 1 nipple. Wouldn't take long to milk that one

Judging by the size of its nuts you wouldnt want to try milking that nipple.

Impressive how the bruise and tattoo are so colour coordinated, it's hard to tell where one ends and the other starts in the third picture!

I think some of you fell for the labour spin hook, line and sinker. They just reported the figures differently and spun the facts to make it all sound more acceptable.

We're all in for a few shocks in the near future, the biggest will be the truth about what a financial mess this country is really in and theres only one party responsible for that.

I've had no punctures since going tubeless using UST rims and UST/TLR/LUST/etc tyres and stans sealant, thats a good enough reason for me.

If Eurovision were about the music it would be pointless, its just another opportunity for the europeans to express how much they hate us English.

I agree with SpokesCycles – this is a lot of bike for the money, you'll be pushed to beat it a far as an XC hardtail goes, light, stiff, fast, UST compatible wheels, quality components.

Additionally BIkeRadar reviews the Trek 6700, you could probably do much better for the same price or a little extra cash.

Did the dog have standard hinged jaw bones, or a special that that used bearings? maybe the the dogs special jaw used bearing supplied by kaeasae and the dog liked how smooth and long lasting the bearings were, and the dog decided that, upon seeing kaesae riding his super bike with super bearings the dog would give kaesae's super leg a super chomp to show its appreciation.

Maybe if the dogs special jaw used lower quality japanese bearings it wouldnt have been so happy to attack.

    wtf?/ bearings??

Every STW conversation kaesae gets involved in seems to end up with him discussing how high quality the cheap tat bearings he sells are, I thought i'd just help him along a little with this one as it didnt seem to be going that way.

'Mountaineer's skull fractured by falling bearing'etc

Was that a pregreased, sealed, or open cage bearing? was it super high quality from ebay? kaesaes bearings are much more suited to falling on mountaineers heads at medium to low spead, not high speed.

Maybe some of kaesae's super high quality bearings would have prevented the accident from happening.

I think Winstanleys is the cheapest place for Hope Hoops at the moment:

Keep your eyes open, the new Stans "Alpine" (Olympic replacement) and "Crest" (Flow replacement) are supposed to be coming out on Hope Hoops in the next 4-6 weeks…

I know you can buy maps from viewranger but I thought it might be possible to download and cache the opencycle and openstreet data.

Can I download the opencycle maps data to the phone? Just so I dont have to download it all on the move and risk the chance of having no internet connection available in the wilderness and not being able to get a map..

OS mapping data is free from 1 April so resellers no longer need to pay OS licence fees (as far as I know), so I would wait until after that to see if prices of Viewranger (and others) drop at all.

mi©k – I've got chicken rythms on CD somewhere, drop me a mail if you want a copy sending out (or could rip/zip/email)… Its a long time since I listened to it but if I remember it didnt live up to my expectations,,, the single version "Rising Star" (FACD298) was much better as well. Now I'm showing my age!! is it really 20 years ago….. [looks in mirror, yes it was 20 years, dear me…]

Next week can we have a "Rave" reminisce session so I can:
    1. Setup my "ghetto blaster" in the garage
    2. Order white gloves and whistles fom eBay
    3. Purchase the iPhone "Strobe" app
    4. Chomp a few "disco biscuits" and throw some shapes
    5. Cover myself in vic's and tell the entire forum (who I have not met before) that I love them all.

The Carlton bank track is not a huge long track but it has tons of lines all over it, but alsoa few walkers crossing those lines, so make sure you havea lookout if your doing anything.

Ayton quarry is a few miles from Carlton bank, there's also Guisborough Woods, Eston hills (very technical in places but a very dodgy area, think quad bikes, pit bulls, and giro's!), and a few other parts of the north yorkshire moors worth riding wthin a close area. I reckon if your travelling and looking for a good full days downhilling visit Carlton bank then Eston hills if you have any time.

I tried in vain to get hold of a 24 hole hub to rebuild an M775 rear, no luck at all bar a DT440 hub which was more £'s than the whole XT wheelset!!! luckily enough the wheel was replaced under warranty… Shimano's reply to me asking if I could source a hub from anywhere was "We can supply you a number of spare spokes in May 2010".. errr.. thanks but no thanks Mr Shimano!!

Yeah, sometimes trying to update the firmware through the phone doesnt get the latest version, try connecting it to your pc via the ovi pc suite and nokia software updater, if that doesnt work read the debrand guide here:
    http://forum.dailymobile.se/index.php/topic,1616.0.html

Careful… the writer of the last thread mentioning viewranger and free in the same sentence was branded a bike theif by some of the STW massive.

franksinatra – you can debrand your 5800 but it might invalidate your warranty, then again it could be worth it as you'll get the latest firmwares, free sat nav, etc, etc… I had an orange branded phone a few years back and they were terrible for firmware updates so I reckon you might be waiting a while…

I tried out the new ovi maps this morning, it's pretty good with traffic info, automatic route update, etc…..

All we need now is a free app for OS mapping that downloads the entire UK in 1:25000!!!!! (Maybe after April when free online OS mapping is available and someone writes an ap to cache downloaded tiles..)
