Try swimming every other day to build up fitness and limit the pressure on the healing area.

I dont think development is a good option for you depending on age. Do you really still want to be learning your trade at 45/50?

IT manager to techie is the reverse of what most people do, and then you often find great technical people are not always great managers, and vice versa. Understand what you are getting into, software development is much more than just code and can take a good few years to become truly experienced, learning the code, patterns, best practices takes time and youll be competing with kids fresh out of uni for trainee roles; those kids will also have a years experience from sandwich courses so will be at an advantage.

Play on your management experience and existing skills, look for roles like release manager, and possibly take ITIL exams. It could also be advantagous to look for IT jobs in a business similar to your current employer and aim to become a business analyst, project manager, or other “soft” technical role rather than the full on tech side.

500ml, just turned up today 🙂 It includes a tube and measuring pot for filling but no syringe.

Looking at the instructions it’s 100ml per tyre so that will get you about 5 tyres worth.

You might have you add £2 postage if you’re ordering just that.

One to add to this – merlin have Fenwicks airtight at £7.99 instead of £20, never used it but apparently it’s quite highly rated.

I found this thread quite amusing, I always assumed “easygirl” was female. I had to check the profile when size 47’s were mentioned and my first thought was “Do they even make heels in that size?”.
    Please accept my humblest apologies!

+1 for westbrook, my LBS. Great guys and I’m sure they’ll price match or do a deal that’s pretty hard to beat. They may not be open for a couple of days yet as they occasionally have the week off over Christmas.

No worries, I’m browsing the sales for various bits at the moment!

Not sure if the XR 2.0 can be converted to 142, the end caps are threaded rather than pull off, so I would say it’s probably not worth the hassle of acquiring the parts and doing it – my personal choice is to get something that’s fits out of the box to save messing on!
I haven’t measured the internal width either, sorry! they look about average – nether wide nor super skinny, but that’s probably not much help.

£350 would get you a decent set of the tougher hopes (32H, EVO2, Flow), Easton Wheels seem to be the most commonly discounted at the moment.

Chain reaction have some deals – http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/clearance/wheels/mtb-wheels?ss=2527&f=4294957821&sort=discount

    As do Wiggle – http://www.wiggle.co.uk/mtb/performance-wheels/29-622-wheel-size/?ea=4294767022&o=5

    And Merlin – http://www.merlincycles.com/sale-wheels-44132/

    Also Rose bikes – http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/products/bike-components/wheels/mtb/?size=f:21893&page=1&order=aprice#anchor_products

not sure if you’re interested in a second hand pair but I have these for sale (shameless plug, sorry! make me an offer):

Whatever I cant find in the classifieds I generally use chainreactioncycles, there prices are hard to beat.

Brake pads check out uberbikes and get either race matrix or if you want them to last a bit longer with maybe a little less stopping power go for the sintered pads: http://www.uberbikecomponents.com/category/331/View-all-Avid-SRAM-Disc-Brake-Pads-here

Wiggle are a competitive alternative, and again once you find what your looking google it before you order to find any deals. An odd one but if go outdoors have any of the kit you want and you have a card, they do price match +10% off for your trouble.

    Distance 2,865.9 mi
    Time 183h 24m
    Elev 67,516 ft

Started Strava June 23rd, according to my cycle computer I am 30 miles short of 5000 miles for the year and I’ll be putting those in tomorrow morning. Hopefully I’ll have recovered from my Achilles tendonitis in 2015 and be back running and cycling harder/faster/more purposeful/more enjoyable miles and not riding as many mundane miles to maintain fitness.

Note to self: try it on a torque gauge before use

I’d be interested to see the results of that as well! Can you post once you’ve done it please?

It’s a bit boring sometimes, you need a routine or drills to make the time go quicker, definitely get some decent goggles as being able to see properly helps a lot, and it definitely improves core, upper body strength and breathing.

I always find the pool is usually quieter first thing on a morning or last thing at night.

Can anyone recommend a waterproof MP3 that actually works well?

Received and used – seems decent quality and certainly can’t complain for £25! thankfully most of the bolts on my bike were ever so slightly under tightened, pretty good guess work but why take chances (£25 vs. £££££’s of components!!)

    It’s probably a 370-a-like 3 pawl freehub.

Try contacting Syncros through their website – it took about 3 or 4 days for them to get back to me, and I don’t think their reply was entirely accurate

I assume it’s from a Scott bike? I serviced a set of XR 2.0’s from a 910 recently and emailed Syncros; they reckon the XR 2.0 hub is a DT Swiss 360, but I couldn’t find many details about that and eventually worked out it’s a 2 pawl Steel Onyx freehub. Pawls and spares are available so if it’s just a minor part needed it may be cheaper to strip and rebuild, it wasn’t that difficult.

There’s an exploded diagram of the Onyx free hub in this service document:
    http://www.dtswiss.com/Resources/Support/HUBS/DT-Swiss-Hubs-Onyx,-Cerit-Technical-Manual

And there are some pictures of the XR2.0 hubs here so you can see I the TR2.0 looks anything like it.

    Freehub MAY be this one

I think those eclipse prices are missing a decimal place somewhere 😯

I’ve run tubeless before and will again, then the lightweight tubes will go in the seat pack for emergencies, so it helps out either way.

Poundland – not rechargeable but waterproof, bright, 5 modes, and so cheap you don’t give a shit about losing, breaking, soaking it, and you can just splat them all over and light yourself up like a Christmas tree!

Resurrected as I’m very intersted to know how this works out, my bike almost went in the river last night when I got my 5th puncture this week 👿

What sealant are people using now, is stans still the weapon of choice?

    duckers

Puncture prone – I’m looking for something thorn proof, may go back to tubeless at this rate or stick some stans in the tubes!

Achilles tendinopathy in both legs – over a year since I last ran but I’ve kept up the cycling and cut back on hills and hard training, just had saline injections in one and it appears to have reduced the scarring/swelling, waiting for the other one to be done and sticking to the 180 eccentric stretches a day.

“piedi di formaggio” – I would be interested in hearing how the shockwave therapy goes as that’s one of my next options.
