If they started charging we might as well just use ebay.

If I were selling a lot of stuff then an occasional donation would be a ‘consicience clearing’ gesture I suppose..

Ive had the same ‘upside down’ issues with Avid and Hope as well. Funnily enough my old Hayes disks never seemed to do it.

You should apply to some of the UK’s major chemical producers.

I noticed, I wonder if the mods can make the page length longer on the classifieds.

Thats what I normally do but I was messing round with it last night with the car in the garage looking for an alternative solution.

Tried a different tape measure and its bang on 2068mm. Why the **** anyone would anyone own a tape measure that doesnt measure is beyond me.

Note to self: Next time you steal a tape measure from a builder make sure its accurate.

Further note to self: Next time you hire a builder make sure his tape measure is accurate before he builds you a garage, maybe then you’ll have room for to get your car in and roll your bike to measure tyre circumference.

I work ni IT and am job hunting at the moment, my job is quite stable due to teh small size of our team within a large company but sometines stability is just not enough.

Go for it, unless theres even the slightest chance you’ll be out of work because of changing jobs.

Have you got any more pix?

One pic from the front was enough to start suggestions of trailside homosexuality, god knows what would have happened if he had backside pics as well!

Oh yes because Labour caused a world economic slump didn’t they, the bastards. However **** Labour are, at least they aren’t the tories – does anyone actually remember the 80s and early 90s?

2009 is going to be much much worse than any previous recession, the worst period is just starting!

Been in this situation many times when running and cycling, and generaly tackled it with a bit of agression but never had to resort to violence, once I have raised my voice a little and walked agressively towards the dog either the dog backs off or the owner grabs the dog and makes it safe once they realise I mean business (even though i dont!) and I usualy get an apology, which is good enough for me.

I bought one for £200 in the sale there the other day and only just regard this as an acceptable suit for work (I’m skint, the others are getting wrecked). I shudder to think just how gash a £19 suit is

    Agreed on:
    1. I’m Skint (current suit out of date, last changed jobs 3 years ago)
    2. £19 suit must be a pile
    3. £200 seems a reasonable amoutn to pay

    Additionally:
    4. Anything I spend on a suit comes out of the “New Carbon MTB Fund”
    5. I’m glad your not interviewing me, all this talk of babies fists and “point”s reaching tops of belts.

I had decided a suit was the way forward after debating it amongst some chums, but their reaction was kind of like this thread (but with more abuse aimed at me), which is why I thought I’d see what peoples expectations were on here.

Scary thing is I’ve been out out pricing up the cloth today and already calculated the downgrades I will have to make to the new bike for each £50 increment in suit cost, either that or I sacrifice the Haglofs Oz/Ozone until next winter.

I’ve got a Garmin Forerunner 305 that I use for running (and occasionally cycling), its an absolutely invaluable training tool; it even has basic mapping functionality that’s nothing more than a compass, waypoints, and an alarm that bleeps when you should turn and I’ve used it a couple of times when running places I have never been to before and its saved my bacon more than once just by showing me I am going in the wrong direction and away from the next waypoint. I use the forerunner with SportTracks PC software and also memory map.

I do have a PDA that I use with memory map pocket navigator when walking or exploring any new areas and would definitely say that if I were buying a cycling specific GPS it would be one that can run memory map or an alternative full colour mapping system with a finger-draggable-interface, the main issue I find with the PDA though is battery life, it gets about 4 hours when the GPS is running so on day trips (or longer) its not really a run all day tool but more of a where-the-hell-am-I-and-how-do-I-get-home box of tricksl. Of course battery life could be extended using something like a free loader.

There are loads of ultra-rugged walking specific GPS systems that are similar to PDA’s and its probably a good time of year to buy as its sales galore right now!!

Would it be worth starting a new “suggestions” sub-forum (temporarily in this site, and permanantly in the new one when its arrives) containing “suggestions” for the STW forum/website/mag/shop/etc that can be considered for future inclusion. If you see a feature in the mag/web/forum that you like and would like to see more of, or have an idea for something completely new (regular columns or contributions from forum/mag regulars about their rides/experiences/kit/etc?, top gear style cycling challenges?) suggest it as a feature in the “suggestions” forum and STW staff *may* take it on board.

Who knows, someone may suggest something completely off the cuff that revolutionises STW for ever!

I’ve solved the cold hands issue with 3 pairs of gloves of varying thickness, but have yet to solve the cold feet issue. I was also thinking of getting a pair of SealSkinz mid thermal socks and using a thin liner sock as well, but I reckon SealSkinz are more waterproof than warm and I am not planning to get my feet wet so I reckon a pair of thick hiking/walking socks for a fiver would do the job just as well. Any oppinions?
