If big companies weren’t paying these little slags next to nothing to make cheap shit then how the hell would these people make a living, and how would we get our cheap tat? Primark clothing doesnt grow on trees people! Just think of all the poor single mothers who wouldnt be able to find a bright green mini skirt 2 sizes too small to match their fake tan and hoola hoop earings, and not only that, one that has a pocket that exactly holds a giro, 20 regal, a bling PAYG mobile and a greggs sausage roll.

Cocoa means nothing, its all about the coca.

Ha! skinningrove is nothing compared to some of the areas around it! All born with the steel trade and dying with it. Sad, true, but certainly not hard!

Too many pinch flats = tyres not inflated enough for terrain?

I have a PDA that performs similar functions and its much better having full colour OS maps and being able to put Memory Map on it. Smart Phones aren’t cheap though and neither is memory map.

You can add more than 3gb to your PC and it will be shown in the PC general details screen (window key + break), but if your using a 32 bit OS (i.e. windows xp) the maximum it will actually make use of is 3gb.

I’ve decided to test lightweight schwalbe tubes with sealant instead of going tubeless, I reckon it’ll be easier.

Then some skag heads in said car park spoiled the old couples day by washing their car with a bucket of piss and charging them £5 for it.

If your using a Microsoft backend you could try something like DotNetNuke, you just install it and manage the content yourself, pretty straightforward and I’m certain mr IT will more than capable of getting it up and running. Its open source so I wouldn’t recomend it for an internet site, but its fine as an intranet.

The latest version of DotNetNuke doesnt require a SQL server installation either, it will run from an attached database instance that should run as part of the standard configuration.

I’ve not had a great deal to do with Sharepoint but from what I remember sharepoint has “discussion lists” and “Discussion Database” features (i.e. the sharepoint version of a forum) but they’re poor at best and would certainly dissapoint users with their lack of functionality.

I’ve had good and bad experiences of auctions, but I would say that (depending on how much your planning to spend) private sellers are a slightly better option.

Firstly you can take a mechanic (if you know any) and have them take a good look over the car, secondly you can take it for a good test drive (something you cant do at the auctions), thirdly I would bet you can knock a private seller down to not much more than auction price once you start waving some cash at them and they know our serious.

Have a look through local papers and admags, and the autotrader (although its a bit gash now), but do go to the auction.

Car prices are like everything else though and are very region dependant, so you may be able to pick up a better deal by looking a little further outside your local area.

It depends on the type of technology your web and database servers are running (or more importantly if you actually have web and database servers running!!).

You first need to know if your running linux-apache-mysql-php (LAMP) or Microsoft .Net and SQL server, or something else entirely.

Find that out and I’m sure we can offer some options.

Is the disc brake mount on the chainstay or seat stay, and are the holes facing the ground or at 90 degress to the ground?

    Max,
How much did you put in, have you topped it up at all, and how often has the bike been ridden.

I am wondering if theres more chance of the sealant going off if the bike is stationary for long periods

All other mountain bikes in the house have car type valves, so it makes sense that I convert the only MTB that isn’t schraeder so I can use the same spares when out and about.

My plan is to find a sealent that will last 6 months or so with minor topping up and replace the tubes away after that, as I do more running than cycling over the winter anyway.

Amongst other things, I was concerned that if I go tubeless and it dries out its a pain to clean and reseal the tyre, with tubes and sealent if it dries I just rip out the tube and start again with no mess, and also trailside tube changes should be a bit cleaner if they’re ever necessary..

Well I never, the valve hole on my Mavics are cut to take Schraeder and fitted with a presta adapter and tubes, filling problems solved and let the experiments begins.

Guisborough woods, roseberry topping, captain cooks monument, clay bank, wainestones, carlton bank (has a downhill course as well), osmotherly… that should keep you busy for a day,, I dont have any exact routes as I usually just ride up there and try to spot tracks I’ve never ridden or ran before…

Takisawa, thats what I think I’m going to do, just until I can test selant and trust the stuff enough to go tubeless.. I reckon if I buy some decent Schwalbe tubes with removable cores I can save at least 50g’s per wheel over the standard tubes currently fitted, and I need some more spare tubes anyway as my scott scale has Presta valves and my Trek has schraeda.

I’ve just been running through a local country park this afternoon and it looks like they’ve been doing some trailside tree/bush/etc maintenance over the winter, but with a tractor,, so what was previously a nice smooth trail perfect for high speed cycling is now a rutted ripped up mess with potholes (currently puddles) all over.

I might just try getting an inner tube, filling it with stans or sludge or something and ramming a nail through it, just to see if it works. Hmmm I’ve got a few days off work so it might just hapen if I can drag myself away from the PC…

I was out on my mountain bike a few sundays ago, at the place I was cycling there is an old concrete train platform with a sign saying “Cyclists dismount”, it is clear the platform is for walkers.

Next to the platform is an open grass area that has a single well defined path through it, clearly carved by cycles. This old woman was walking on the bike track with a bunch of dogs taking up pretty much all of it; Rather than stop I hopped up onto the concrete platform as she clearly wasnt going to move(the platform was absolutely clear of pedestrians) she shouts “Your not supposed to cycle on the platform”, well I probbaly gave her more reason to dislike cyclists as I just stopped the bike and swore at her continuously until she moved off the track and onto the platform.

I would describe myself as very tolerant and considerate but some people just ask for it.

I typically run 35-42 PSI as I like to keep it rolling fast so pinch flats are not really an issue but thorns were a problem last year, for some reason the main places I ride are littered with various thorny bushes as apparently the wildlife like them, well I bloody well dont… Anyway I might have a bash at that sludge, if it gets 8/10 from a mag it cant be that bad.

Admins – how about a mag or website feature on different methods of puncture prevention and their effectiveness?

Its confusing because its sorted by a column thats not shown (posted time), if they showed the posted time column (or bettwe still that and freshness, or how about hovering over the freshness column to show the time posted) it would be perfect.

How about options for all,, click on the column header to sort by that column, for example topic, author, time posted, freshness.

I liked the old forum as I could sit at work and just cilck refresh once in a while and see the most recent posts immediately, now I have to click and fiddle..

Yeah I passed you, I was on a carbon scott scale in a grey haglofs top, came in the car park exit (oops), rode to the railway platform, smelled the mud and decided not to get it mucky just yet seen as I’ve spent all winter getting it so clean…. pussy.

I visit Croft a couple of times a year for touring cars and other specials, the ruling is rediculous. Once again the enjoyment of many has been spoilt by the few. I imagine that Croft will be a housing estate in 5 years time.

Same as hairspray, slips on when wet and sticks as it dries out…. I’ve got a feeling its more down to the garage being damp rather than the old tricks not working. By the way its not my hairspray, its no use to me unless I can polish the bike with it.
