Considering your age has f* all to do with your premium once you're between about 25 and 65 that's a pretty pointless statement. More to do with your location, vehicle and accident record.

Incorrect anyway, at least with my employer.

I tend to do more running over the winter months, maybe I can strap it to my fat old heed and find somewhere dark to run….

Jesus that gun metal grey one looks good! I wish I could justify buying it!!!!

Would it be possible to machine one of those to take 3 or 4 internal 18650 batteries instead of an external pack? I'm trying so hard to convince myself I will use it enough to justify the purchase!!!

dr_brakes, you looking to sell your P7 torches, batteries, charger, etc cheap then? if so how many modes, what batteries, and what price? I migth be interested,, mail me.

Dimadan – People are still using the 5 modes (and other torches), although a lot are moving to the P7 bike light (because of the longer run time) or buying troutelights. My reason for having 2 torches over a single light is that if one goes dead or stops working I've got a backup.

Anything I sell I price higher as people will haggle me down and I will be glad to lower the price, and anything I buy I try to get as cheap as possible… admittedly I've lost out on a few buys I would have liked 'cos I wouldnt pay the price, but hey ho, maybe next time…

Dimmadan – thats the version everyone was using last year (SKU 12060), its a good choice as the 5 as the low can be used on road,, the problem with the 2 mode and the bike specific light is the mid/low setting on them is a little too dazzling for road use.

I done manual trade to software developer through a university degree, further education, and on the job training, the only downside is that sometimes being sat inside all day frustrates me. You get the same characters in offices as you do on site though so I dont miss the crack. Trust me though its worth it, you can only go so far up the site ladder before the reach top, with the right aptitude and attitude an office job (depending what office job you decide on of course) will see you go much further in life. And you wont be breaking your back doing it!

TD – The guy was old as hell itself, he'll be dead before long so wont be angry at MTB'ers for very long.

I always slow down for horses, walkers can move, and old people should be at home knitting. What amazes me though is how a single elderly walker can take up an entire pathway and be completely oblivious to anyone else walking, running, or cycling; they wont move but have a good old moan when you try and politely squeeze past.

I was out riding sunday, moderate speed, and some old dude shouted "OI!! Slow down where my dog is" (his dog was, at that moment, curling out a tyre grenade), to which I replied "Your dog should be on a f###ing lead, and clean its sh1t up you dirty old b##ard".. he stopped and was cursing and was shaking his fist, wanting to fight me. I nearly fell off my bike laughing.

You can change insurer but will not get any additional no claims for your time with the current insurer (so if you started this insurance year with 5 years no claims and you close your existing policy today you will only have 5 years no claims to go to your new insurer),, and you will also only get a partial refund based on the number of months left to run on your policy, unless you pay monthly, then you may or may not owe them anything depending on the insurers terms and conditions.

I was thinking about replacing the knackered rear hub with a standard shimano XT hub but what about the spoke pattern, there would be gaps….. (pics appreciated)…

I'll let you know, I think I have your email from when you sent me a gpx route a while ago.

BTW I've tried sourcing an M775 factory rear hub from everywhere I can think of and had no luck in finding one..

I've got a mashed rear M775 wheel, the hubs knackered (the threads are stripped where the freehub bolt screws in) but the spokes, etc are fine,, I am going to split it for spares if I cant get it warrantied so I'll keep you guys posted.

I plan to be over that way tomorrow, but I think I'm just running instead (taking the family for a day out but that doesnt mean I cant slip off for a quick run of +- 3000ft )… If I see you lunatics I'll stop and introduce meself!

Incidentally are there any shower facilities anywhere in the lakes? I am over there loads on day trips and always go home stinking, which is not nice for the family being sat in a car with me smelling like a <insert rude word>. I was wondering if Keswick leisure centre would be OK, do they let you use their changing/shower facilities for a fee? or does anyone know of any other places?

To get more people on the forum buying the mag, and more mag buyers on the forum, why not feature more articles about the forum users and make the link between forum and mag well known, what they do, where they ride, their 'home made bike remedies', etc… A feature on trouts lights might be good with the ensuing darkness, or an articel on how to make homebrew lights, etc (have we done this already, I cant remember!)…

    try laterooms:

    http://www.laterooms.com/en/Hotels.aspx?k=Windermere&d=20090910&n=1&rt=0,0#sfhvko

You'll laso get a bete deal if you stay a little outside of windermere, but ambleside will probably be just as expensive/difficult to find a place.

It all depends how old your tyre is and how much trust you would have in a fix but…..

Halfords sell large "self cut" inner tube patches for about 3 quid, I have used these before on the inside of the tyre,, to make a nice strong fix cut a piece of patch that covers the hole and overlaps by a fair bit and stick it on, then cut a second larger piece of patch, by a fair bit and stick it over the first one to give it a bit more strength, then finally if you like stick some duck/gaffer tape over it.

I've had no trouble with tyres I've fixed like this before and they've even been fine running tubeless after that.

I want a trout light for £50! thats what my bike and budget needs (..goes off to cry…. or to at least finish the email I started 4 hours ago)…

P.S I would also like a pair of action man underpants like I had when I was 6, unfortunately they dont make them in 'grown up' sizes…

When the battery pack failed did you return the whole unit to dealextreme or did they just send out a replacement battery pack?

spangelsaregreat – Whats the build quality like of your DX light (with reference to trouts previous "bastid" thread)? I'm wondering if it has improved since it first went on sale?

Someone was selling an Airbike SL1 for £70 last week, I dont know if it sold, but it might be a nice alternative for you (Better build quality maybe?, although I dont know how people rate the SL1..)

Try this to check if you can get connected in hyperterminal (to prove the cable/device s working)…

    http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/GPS_Serial_to_USB

Download the latest driver for your version of Windows from the BAFO driver’s page at: http://bafo.com/bafo/prodrivers.asp. Unzip it, and then connect the serial to USB adapter. The "Add New Hardware" wizard will likely see the new device. Give the wizard the location of the file that you downloaded and follow the instructions.

Once it is finished you can also test the GPS connection by setting your GPS to NMEA mode, then starting HyperTerminal (Start->Accessories->Communications->HyperTerminal). Create a new connection using com3 and setting the speed to 4800 bits per second. You should then start seeing NMEA sentences.

Post a screenshot of your PC's device manager (while your Garmin is pluuged in), any missing drivers should show up as a question mark in there.

Schwalbe evo sidewalls are paper thin, RR's are the only tyre I have suffered serious sidewall rips on.

Always carry a pair of tubes and some tyre boots even when running tubeless, they might save you a long walk!!!

Start memory map, under the "GPS" menu option select "GPS Setup", then configure as necessary…. asDigimap says try using USB and serial.

Good flood but also with with a penetrating spot, 3 settings low, med, high, built in battery pack (something like 3 or 4 18650's that can be removed and charged or easily replaced), cheap (of course). anything over 700 – 800 lumens should be enough output for offroad use….

    duckers

Standards aren't slipping, trout offers the best output for 200 quid, everyone knows that. The only reason not to buy is (if like me) you cant justify spending that sort of cash on a bike light.
