Thanks again for all the responses, went for the Samsung from John Lewis in the end

5 year guarantee and easy to take back if anything goes wrong, and looks nice.

Would be watching it from about 8 or 9 ft, does it make a huge difference even if I’m not watching any HD channels?

    defydude, thanks for the link.

    Maybe http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/lg-m2780d-27-full-hd-led-tv-08484759-pdt.html instead?

I rode it last week and it really put a smile on my face, I’m itching to go back and do it again. Also, great vid.

I used 120s with no problems, in fact it handled better than with 100.

Is it just me, or at 4.44 is one guy pushing the other guy’s bike while he has a waz?

ds3000 – can you let us know how you get on with the Deores? I’m very very tempted by those.

Had 3 or 4 rides out of them now and they are excellent, bargainous to be honest. The best modulation of any brake I’ve used, Oro/mono mini/juicy3. I would definitely recommend, bargainous.

Can highly recommend 2012 Deores from rosebikes for 30 quid each.

I can back up ElShalimo by confirming that the NHS does have access to a translation service, as well as sometimes using patients’ families (sons, daughters, grandkids can be handy).

The interview is next week, I guess I’ll drive and have a look at some of the villages around Batley. Mirfield looks nice on streetview.

Thanks for your responses. I don’t mind working in grimness, I’d just rather not live there. I like the idea of a nice little village, but also like a bit of hustle and bustle/cinema/butchers. Is Huddersfield OK? I’ve only been to the train station.

I’d prefer a cycle commute, also not averse to a short car journey as well.

2012 deores on rosebikes for around 30 quid – I have some and they are amazing.

I just got the 2012 Deore brakes from Rose for 30 quid each, I have to say that they are very nice indeed. I’ve previously used, Formula Oros, Hope Mono Minis, Avid Juicy 3s. The Deores are by far the best feeling of all of the above, great modulation and ergonomic levers. They’re not particularly light, but I suppose you’d go for the slx or xt for that. I can’t see myself moving away from Shimano now, unless they become hard to maintain.

merlinshearer – 32-18 and seemed fine, maybe could have gone 19 or 20 on the back but I’m unfit. The bar ends make a massive difference climbing though but get in the way a bit on the downs.

There are some really nice swoopy downhill bits at Llandegla, hadn’t been there before but liked it. The cafe is pretty good too.

    hahaha, excellent 🙂

tthew, not at all mate – was his comment, I don’t care really. Just wondered what he meant, now I’m getting a bit carried away on this internet forum…

So does that mean I’m not allowed to ride my bike because I look like a tool on it?

Maybe if I’d had 5 inches of suspension like he appeared to be sporting I’d have been able to join his gang.

So basically he thinks I’m a ponce.

    It was at Llandegla.

Pic of the offending bike. Now, I’m not an attention seeking whore, I just like the way it rides.

Note the stress in the sentence was on the word dirt with a rising intonation “I bet you think you’re dirt on that” He then made off down a trail that hadn’t been officially opened yet, signs saying such.

Gervais is an amateurish **** who has been told by unknowing hollywood types and the media that he’s a genius. Far from it, he just got lucky.

I wonder if Gervais would use the term in front someone with Down’s Syndrome, it would be pretty presumtive to assume that the person would find it funny and see the ‘irony’ in its use, as it would calling, for example, a Chinese person a Chink.

Oh the genius in his irony, only those on a higher plain of understanding can appreciate the hilarity.

Gervais is more like David Brent than he likes to admit, maybe that’s how he played the character so well.

Not XT brakes, however ordered some deores from rose bikes and have also been tracking the progress intently.

Going to pull the trigger I think, anyone used them before? Shimano brakes are usually pretty good, aren’t they? I assume the tech just trickles down over the years to the lower end stuff.

I’ve looked at mud x and beaver, they seem nice. I bit narrow for me though. I’m after something with a bit of volume, as running rigid. Does anyone know when the Minion 2.5 29 is coming out in the UK?

Women are suspicious creatures, if you lie about something like night-riding and they find out, then they will probably assume you’re lying about other, more important stuff.

You will like it, it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned.
